For those of you who believe you've gotten signs from God

I'm wondering if anyone had gotten what they believe are signs from God, what the signs were, how they interpreted them, and how they knew it was from God.

Not me (despite many requests for signs). You would likely get a lot of responses if you posted this in the Pentecostal or Charismatic forums.

I'm wondering if anyone had gotten what they believe are signs from God, what the signs were, how they interpreted them, and how they knew it was from God.

The common occurrence for any true Follower of CHrist is to have Gods actual presence living in them which involves nudging, convicting, a strong sense to do something or say something at the appropriate time, to excersise caution, to have wisdom in a situation, etc... So. , these kinds of 'signs' are indicative of a true Christian daily.

If you are talking about more profound signs and wonders, then God sometimes works in that way too with certain people. One such sign that occurred with me was way back when I was a baby Christian and was hungering for Gods presence ; so, I was at this Sunday evening Praise and Worship Church meeting of about 300 people and went forward to the alter to simply worship God with many others at the same time. I felt a strong feeling of his presence. The Pastor was slowly walking down the front line and prayed for each person . When the Pastor got to the guy next to me whos name was Kyle and was about 6'5" tall.... Kyle fell backwards and was immobilized for about 5 full minutes ; his g/f and I were kneeling besides him and he said he could not move at all and that it was like electricity running thru his body . As he was describing this, I was experiencing a greater and greater filling of God which brought me to tears of humility and great love . I experienced Gods love deeper than ever before during those few minutes .

So, God chooses when to act and how to act with certain people for his glory and we should not rule out these kinds of very real distinctive visits. They have not occurred often with me , but that evening greatly kickstarted my walk with Christ and im sure Kyle was never the same after it either. We should be cautious when it comes to signs and wonders on TV as there are Charletons who fake it to make money , but, that doesn't discount the real thing either. Test the spirits as the Bible says.

Our prayed each day shold be for God to fill us with his power and spirit , and sometimes we can expect a HUGE filling to where we are simply amazed and taken aback. Its a delight when it occurs.

Everyone gets different signs. God does these things sometimes to help built up our faith. But He doesn't just do them for those that don't believe in Him. And one should not expect to see them just to test God.

Most of my signs came when I asked for guidance to help me understand what He wants me to do. They most often came when I wasn't asking for them, and least expect it.

But anyways, seek His face and not His hands and you'll get signs. It's a relationship.

I have received a couple of major signs from God.

1.) There is something rather than nothing.

This particular sign speaks very loudly to the existence of God and makes it impossible for me to doubt that He is. For my money, the best answer for why there is the universe rather than nothing at all is that God made it. And what greater sign could I have from God than the presence of an entire universe! Of course, this sign is not unique to me. Others before me have taken note of it, too. (Ps. 19:1; Ro. 1:20)

2.) God has given me His Word, the Bible.

This is a pretty incredible sign, really. It tells me who God is and what He wants from me. It is the "sign" against which all other signs are tested. In fact, so long as I act on the principles, wisdom and truth revealed to me in this sign from God, I have no particular need of impressions, inner urgings, superstitious reading of circumstances, liver shivers, or whatever to guide me.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

My husband and I don't get signs from God, we get specific instructions.

It goes like this: either separately or together in prayer, we ask God for direction. In the stillness that follows, the Lord speaks to us very clearly. To my husband, He gives visuals. I receive verbal direction in my spirit.

More often than not, we don't like the response. God rarely does things our way. But every single time we have followed His direction, no matter how much we don't want to, He has always been faithful to show us something we never expected that is always, 100% better than what we were looking for. The more we don't want to follow, the better the response when we obey.

We are experiencing this right now. We were directed on Sunday to give up something of very high value, which we were depending upon. Though it made no sense whatsoever, we gave it up. We have not yet seen what the Lord will do with it, and we are experiencing hardship in the meantime, but we know that if we wait, the Lord will take care of our need. He promised to do so, and we trust Him.

Don't look for signs. Look for the Lord. Listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit when you pray. That is all you need.

Two Novembers ago God gave me a Siberian Husky (my avatar) to get me out of depression. It worked too, I can't really explain it, but that dog gave me a new hope and a new surge for life that I was severely lacking at the time. The moment I was asked if I wanted a free (normally about $1000) husky I heard a voice in my head say "I want you to have this because I love you". It's one of those rare instances where I knew God was talking to me directly. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, I just know it.

It's happened a few rare times over the course of my depression, but this was the most recent one.

I think people have the problem of not looking around with eyes open. Meaning, we often don't expect God to show up, and yet He does time and time again. We give credit to nature, or people, but rarely to God. Not that we shouldn't credit people, but I think God is often behind the people, prodding them in the right direction.

Its a very complex subject due to various beliefs. I for one can tell you first hand if the sign you have goes against anything in the bible then its not from God. Interpreting signs or what can be signs can be hard sometimes. Its always best to talk to others about it or fast over it and see if you get a answer on something.

Regardless of religions or beliefs, we can have some things go our way and some things not. If you believe in signs, you will attribute good things to miracles, others will call it luck or fate.

Many signs. God will usually only give signs people understand. Many people are not expecting and have not been taught about the gifts of the spirit, so they are rare, people would misunderstand whats going on if they were manifest.
