• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have had a lot on my mind, namely anything Christian. I read the Bible ever so often and pray on a regular, though not consistent basis. That needs to change. I would like to read the Bible, even a couple of passages daily and pray more or rather, pray without ceasing. Sometimes, I feel like I am the most disobedient child of God ever.

I have had constant doubts about being saved and I wish that I didn't have those doubts. I wonder if I am spiritual or being a false believer because of these doubts. When if I have never been truly regenerated, saved, or born again? Because of my doubting, when if I have never been faithful enough to believe that God rose His Son from the dead? I usually don't write about these things because I never really thought about writing anything so personal, at least in that particular vain. It is consistently been a bother for many years now and I still wonder from time to time if I am a true believer.

True believers have faith, no? We are to live by faith and not by sight or feelings, no? I am supposed to be strong yet it can be very difficult. However, I cannot recall many people truly say that being a Christian is so so easy. There is a sermon about Christianity being an easy ride. The preacher meant well, but I don't agree. It is a walk sometimes filled with gravel and unpaved roads. It can be a rather lonely road. It can be even more lonely if you feel like God is not there. The sad thing is only a few will walk the same road that I will walk. I am taking the path that few will choose. It is quite sobering since only a few will walk that road and that there is only one way. I did wonder if it truly meant that only a minority of the human race will enter Heaven, including myself. I also wondered if it meant about the only way to Heaven, which is one. Either way, Jesus did say that He is the way, the Truth, and the Life.

Either way, I do wonder if I am truly ready for Jesus' return. I have had doubts about it. I still do. I guess that that is what daily repentance is all about.

Ezekiel 36:26,27 notice what God says, "And I WILL give you a new heart, and a new spirit I WILL put within you. And I WILL remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I WILL put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules." ESV

Notice God is saying He will do everything. It's all Him. I know it's hard to not obsess about salvation because I have ROCD too. The thing is that it's God responsibility to change our hearts and He fulfills His promises. Really all we can do is take Him at His word and follow Him. I came to Jesus and trusting Him for all my salvation and relying on Him to make me the person He wants me to be. I realize with OCD we have tendencies to feel overly responsible for something's. Having said that I know Jesus saves and not our faith/repentance ect. We need to stop looking at our look and just look to Jesus.

I hope that makes sense. God Bless and keep on keeping on even with your fear and doubts. I am too.

Christianity is NOT an easy ride.... At all. In fact, the more you believe, the harder it becomes.

JAMES 1:
Dear brothers and sisters,[a] when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

LUKE 9:23
23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Ephesians 6:16
6 So be truly glad.[b] There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

1 PETER 2:11
Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls.

You know all of His disciples had doubt? And THEY even walked with Him? And wasn't it Peter who was called out onto the ocean, in the dark, because the Lord said "come"... and as soon as Peter took his eyes of the Lord, he began to sink. My friend, your heart is in the right place, ask and you will receive. Does a father give his son a serpent when he asks for a fish? No! Of course not. So ask for wisdom and He will give it to you. Big hugs man.

The more we trust that Jesus cleanes us from all our sin and that we are saved the less fear , condemnation, and guilt we will have. Your right with our abilities its impossible, but with Christ all things are possible. We have to trust that what He has accomplished is already finished. We do good works because we believe and want to do Gods will. We dont do good works to earn anything. Im a believer and I have stumbled but thank God Christ is there to catch me..... Amen WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS US.
