Should Christians boycott Mozilla over firing of CEO?

I'll still use firefox it isn't like any of the other browsers are more "Christian" than it. I think the gay marriage promoters have pretty much decided they are sooner or later going to make it illegal to speak out against it one day.... they are already defaming people to the level of saying it is hate speech when there is no law. In other words they are nothing but "correct" bullies.

Not whining. You like firefox, use firefox. But apparently you can't see the effects of the rising tyranny of political correctness, and its chilling effect on people who don't agree with the dominant ethos.

I do see the effects. They're plain as day. If I were to speak out against, say, a gay parade in my neighborhood (I'd do more than speak out, I'd find a tank to block the road off), I'd never hear the end of it. Honestly, though, I don't give a rip what the "tolerant and diverse" sheeple think of me.

My point was, the browser itself has no more to do with the firing of the CEO than the firing of the janitor. And the sad thing is, even if it did, there aren't enough people to make a difference by speaking out.

:DGood one.
I'd like to see a Christian owned tech company come out with a browser so as to take proceeds and pursue the defense of Christian values in the legislature. And support Christian candidates.

Agreed! Very well said.

They may be making money from search-related advertising, ancillary products, related merchandise, and from grants and donations, all of which could be affected by market share.

Did the other companies fire their CEO for having a Christian worldview? As far as I know they haven't, disagreeing with people is one thing, persecuting someone for his religious and political beliefs is something entirely different.

Christians are supposed to forgive, not boycott.

Christians are also not supposed to condone evil, if we let them get away with this behavior, then other far left groups will take this as a green light to continue this persecution of Christians.

There's plenty of people. Motivated people with a good plan, that's something else. If it just takes a few small switches to cut off any revenue they may have gotten from my browsing habits, and if enough people do them, they'll be hit in the wallet hard. I'll need to look further into where Mozilla actually gets revenue, though.

Mozilla financial report 2012

90% revenue from Google searches. Mozilla/Google contract comes up in November. Maybe lobby Google not to renew it? That would effectively kill Mozilla on those figures.

Good idea. Meanwhile, use Duck Duck Go search engine.
I found that in the computer forum here in one of the threads reporting antivirus programs and the like that can be found online for free.
And unlike Google, DDG doesn't track you. Big plus there.

This video is to the point, note his point on Israel at the end

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuUHwOk_Z3M

Also another good point raised in another forum was could an employer now, say in San Francisco, remove a Jewish worker for having their son circumcised if they or a group of other employees were opposed to the practice? Note, that subject is for another debate but the point is where do you draw the line for being (in)tolerant?

Realistically speaking though, Mozilla will look elsewhere. Simply not using their products may be more practical long-term. But we can hit them in the wallet now while we consider long term options.

Well, where to start. I guess by giving my opinion on the question.
I do not believe that Christians, or anyone for that matter, should boycott Mozilla/Mozilla products. I have a few reasons for this:
1. As long as the software is effective, you should use it. Honestly, this seems like small potatoes to me, and not a repeat/explicitly anti-Christian offense.
2. As someone who supports gay rights, I don't see this working in reverse. You say you say you want Mozilla to support equality for all, yet I don't believe Christians would make a fuss if Mozilla fired an employ for being gay.
3. Either choice would have angered someone. Not firing him would have angered/been offensive to liberals/gays, and firing him would have offended Christians. I don't believe this was a personal message from Mozilla, just modern day maintenance of public image.

This isn't about which side Mozilla supports, this is about Mozilla firing a person for political reasons/holding Christian beliefs.

Mozilla crossed the line from free speech to violating the rights to free political speech of others.

Having bigots representing your company is never a good thing, the same thing would of happened if a leader of the KKK was given a position of power within the company.

Racisim was once acceptable in the USA, now its not.

Being against interracial marriage was once acceptable in the USA, now its not.

Trying to deny gay people their rights was once acceptable in the USA; and much like every other form of bigotry that came before it; its slowly becoming unacceptable.

God bless America.

Being against gay marriage isn't being bigotted, why should we have to ignore the teachings of our religious scripture because someone says we have to.

I'm sure he would have been more than happy with "civil unions" being legalized, just don't call it marriage.
