If a reasonable case could be made to show how my use of the browser is making them any money, then it would be a question worth considering. I don't donate to them as it is.

Do you use Google to search for stuff when using Firefox?

If so then most of their money comes from Google which is derived from adverts and hence sales made from them so perhaps you are indirectly funding the Mozilla project.

Sadly it is Christian groups that seem to be behind the anti-gay movement.

Not sure if you have the wrong end of the argument here but the workplace is rapidly becoming pro-gay where you can't speak out against it and voice free speech which is as bad or if not worse than the anti-gay movement which has opposed gays so far.

Glad you are not one of them.

Not sure what I'm not suppose to be but I am for true freedom and fair play. Sadly this is lacking from Mozilla on this occasion.

I really think this is a sad reflection of todays world,

Brendan Eich resigns as Mozilla CEO after anti-gay flapÂ[bless and do not curse] - NY Daily News

What do u guys think and should a boycott against Mozilla (Firefox/Thunderbird mainly) take place?

It's ridiculous, all these people championing 'diversity' clearly can't handle too much of it. I'd only boycott a company if it was shown that it's direct actions were discriminatory or harmful in some way.

I wouldn't demand that my taxi driver stop immediately to let me out if it transpired that he voted for the National front, it hardly makes him a bad or unsafe taxi driver.

Don't you think that "firing" a CEO for his personal beliefs isn't discriminatory?

I guess it opens the door to fire people if they have views on anti-abortion or other tricky social issues, even religion. Where do you draw the line?

Well of course he succumbed to pressure placed on him and stepped down. It is utterly hypocritical of those who champion diversity to discriminate against those who have diverse views from their own. As it is I don't use Mozilla.

Of course it does, as I said it's incredible how intolerant people are in the name of the toleration.

Excellent question, Eph. I'm glad you brought this up.

I don't know about boycotts as an orchestrated political force, but I uninstalled FF this morning along with my personalizations. It's such a little thing, but it's what I can do. I don't need that browser staring me in the face, telling me that I lack even the moral courage to use other browsers when I have the choice. If there were no other choices, that would be a different matter.

An online friend once said "intolerance has slain its thousands, and tolerance its ten thousands".

I use DuckDuckGo, does that still count? I don't believe I have bought anything from Google's ads either. I also use AdBlock Plus.

Thanks for the feedback :)

If anyone else is removing Firefox and/or Thunderbird from the systems the please let the Mozilla people know why,

and see what other people think about this matter,

I thinks it's going to hurt them...

Well using DuckDuckGo would not include you per se. You must remember that this issue is more a freedom of expression and social issue rather than a financial one.

Oh, yes. Practical considerations though:

Switching to Chrome won't be of any benefit message-wise. Google is also a liberal company.

If people do not switch to something else, then at least hit them in the wallet.

Excellent letter. Shared. Thank you.

Anyone looking for an alternative to FF: after giving chrome a try for a few weeks I am back to Opera 12.16. This is the classic opera before they went to the chromium engine and drew the public into a extended open beta test. It is not the download on their home page. Not perfect, but very good, highly configurable and good on privacy.

My point of view is, the CEO didn't make the browser. What he thinks of homosexuality has absolutely no bearing on my or anyone else's web browsing experience. It's all a bunch of media hype, and people are eating it up.

I mean, come on, people! Now that he's been fired over not liking homosexuals(which is one of the stupidest things I ever heard), is Mozilla Firefox going to suddenly start redirecting us to a bunch of gay sites? No? Okay then, quit whining.

Not whining. You like firefox, use firefox. But apparently you can't see the effects of the rising tyranny of political correctness, and its chilling effect on people who don't agree with the dominant ethos.
