Ephesians 6

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel

I recall in my early days i was taught to pray these things out as coverings .. as i've matured .. i've found that they are really part of the way you live your life .

The belt of truth .. it is around the waist .. truth has multiple dimensions within scripture in that Jesus says that the words of God his father are truth, that the truth will set you free, and that he is (I AM) the truth .. all within the same gospel .. John's a good one .

I find when i'm discerning the reason for truth being around the waist is for a number of reasons, because out of the belly comes all sorts of desires, not just sexual ones, it's a seat of where out basic needs speak, so it is important in this to remember what God has taught you, to not seek things that "entangle" because truth sets free .. so bondage is the opposite of that . and in that sense .. the way you are begins from your desires . so purifying those desires as a song refiner's fire speaks of though .. of the heart .. the psalms speak of the bowels in this manner .

in that the breastplate of righteousness .. i am reminded from the scripture that the righteous live by?? .. that's right . faith . or trust in our God and Savior Jesus Christ . so when the fiery darts get past that shield of trust in God .. they don't hurt so much .. because that hardened layer of experience and life trusting God have accumulated there as the fruit of that discipline

the feet having the gospel of peace on them is really important . i am reminded of a comment of James at the end of chapter 3 of his letter that the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of those who make peace ... what did Jesus say about that .. that the peacemakers are? who are they?? .. yes that's right .. the children of God.

The helmet is of salvation .. because Christ Jesus, our salvation .. is our head.

The sword of the spirit is the word of God .. because Jesus is the word of God .. the sword is given the attribute of "The Spirit" because our weapon against those dark forces . is the Holy Spirit . the sword leaves our mouth and rends the darkness in two .. just like Jesus does in that prophecy .

prayer is a big part of the armour . and so is sharing the mystery of the good news . ask yourself .. how often do you pray with others? how often do you express thankfulness for all that is? how often do you express what God is doing as something good?

I hope you found some encouragement in what came to mind . God bless .

Yes Michael, when we look at the statement “the whole Armour of God”, and when we read the verse we notice the simple little phrase “of God”.

Many of us don’t accept this weaponry, they speak about it flippantly, but they don’t believe that we have been given supernatural weaponry that comes directly from our Almighty God, our Heavenly father, who is the originator of this Armour. It’s not some Christian formula, or consolation prize.

Many of us struggle with life’s problems and if we have an unbroken relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, then we will enjoy the benefits of our spiritual armour. But, when we break our relationship with Him, then we step away from Him, unknowingly or knowingly, through sin we find our weaponry becomes shabby and distorted giving Satan and his forces to come against us. It’s believed that while we keep our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ intact, then our supernatural power source of the Armour is intact. But, what say if there is still unconfessed sin in our life, unforgiveness, and failing to love one another as HE commanded. Then if we fail to repent, does that leave a hole in our Armour?

These latter days, we are beginning to see many who ignore their spiritual lives and cease to walk in the power of our Almighty God, our Lord Jesus Christ as they prefer to listen to the “seducing spirits and doctrines of demons” (1 Tim. 4:1) that is full of “philosophy and empty deceit” (Col. 2:8) through false teaching of the new age gospel and practices that are being preached and practiced within the Body of Christ.

There are many turning from the faith and opening up their minds, or that is, emptying and cleansing their minds, to the new age “doctrine of demons” allowing their minds to be seduced and deceived by “false christs, and false prophets who will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Mark 13:22-23).

As we ignore God’s Word, and fail to “put on the whole Armour of God”, we then begin to wonder why our lives are falling apart around us, as we look deeply and meaningfully for dark reasons for our troubles that have erupted in our lives, when we really have missed the basic principles and commandments of God’s Word.

Many have a false idea of sin, and when we sin and we don’t confess or repent, then what do we expect. Many see repentance as “remorse or regret” and they do nothing about it, and fail to confess and repent their sins. Repentance means that we claim that we will turn away completely from those past life sins and attitudes, and those continuing sins as a Christian.

We just don’t realise that when we sin, fail to confess, fail to forgive, fail to repent that we have placed our walk with our Lord Jesus Christ on hold, and when that happens so does the “hedge of protection”, and the “Armour of God” will also be temporarily put on hold. Many us of don’t realise that we have opted to lay our Armour aside for unconfessed and repented sin.

Many awake in the morning and go through a ritual of putting on the Armour, which I believe is a good practice to enable us to focus better on their spiritual life for the day, but the daily simulation doesn’t put “the whole Armour of God” onto them. It’s our integrity of our relationship with HIM, our Lord Jesus Christ, and our “active Lordship” that does.

So, when it all gets down to the nitty-gritty of “putting on the whole Armour of God” is where we stand with our Lord Jesus Christ in regards to complete confession and repentance?

I wonder how many lets the sun set on anger: "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry” (Eph. 4:26)?

Yeah . if we fail to repent, if we fail to have mercy on others like God has had mercy on us, if we replace the Holy Spirit with a law of our own making . all these things .. leave holes in the armour .

in the sense of love being made complete in us so we have confidence on the day of judgment .. because in this world we are like him . applies very much to being prepared for the day of trouble/evil and having done all to stand .. to then stand .. applies to fear being a hole in the armour . but love when made complete in us .. casts all that fear out . God is that love .. as it was said to Abraham .. i am your shield and your exceeding great reward .. so it is for us .. the full armour of God we put on is the full nature of Christ .

This is so, but only if we confess our sins; forgive those who offend, hurt and abuse us; ask forgiveness from those who we offended, hurt, and abused; and then repent of our sins.

simply, we gotta be right with god and with anyone we mighta wronged .

Yes Michael, and the only way you get yourself right with our Lord Jesus Christ is through verbal prayer of confession, forgiveness, and repentance.

Many Christians are still struggling with the walk with our Lord Jesus Christ, because of much unconfessed sin and unforgiveness in their life. We commit sin daily, unknowingly and knowingly.

Do you ever get angry?

I was thinking back a several weeks ago about what I saw when walking this trail by a nearby lake near where I live.

I was listening to a teaching on "The Armor of God". At one point, I was having a conversation "with myself". It was like I was teaching myself, kind of laying it out.

At one point I said to myself: "The armor (or protection) of God not only protects you attacks of the enemy, it also alerts you to upcoming attacks, when a serpent is coming upon your path."

At that exact moment I stopped, and right at my feet was a bright green colored snake. It was small, but it made the point!

I should be the last one to speak about this, but I believe when we abide in the shadow of the Almighty (even though Heaven has no shadows), we'll have an abiding presence of God that exudes into our very thinking and direction of the heart. We'll go where we're supposed to go and if we even begin to turn aside from that, we'll get a sense not to do that. A disturbance in our spirits.

If we walk in that, we'll be protected and should be able to rise up in faith against opposing demonstrations of the enemy (indirectly or through others). Otherwise, we'll take the path where serpents and scorpions abound. The Word says we have authority over them, but our authority is "in Christ", a place of rest and obedience.

So if we're not entering into and abiding in the presence of God in our walks, and we wonder why things happen that seem to violate the very Word of God, here's a good clue.
