I Was going through some old threads, and saw some of them on Harold Camping, thought I'd google him after that.

Turns out his False Predictions did quite a bit of damage to Family Radio.
Harold Camping may be facing doomsday, but not the one he intended | Religion News Service

Recent reports indicate that the California-based Christian radio network Family Radio, run by evangelist Harold Camping, may be facing dire economic straits, as seen by public tax documents and alleged interviews with former Family Radio employees.

Did anyone actually take it seriously? I thought it was light entertainment good for a grin. Poor old guy he is getting old and loosing the plot.

Unfortunately, many did take it seriously--many times! He would change dates and lead a bunch more to donate to him--he made a lot of money while those poor, foolish people, got poorer.

“And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half.” –Daniel 12:7

From a folio cataloged as Yahuda MS 7.3g, f. 13v:

"So then the time times & half a time are 42 months or 1260 days or three years & an half, reckoning twelve months to a year & 30 days to a month as was done in the Calendar of the primitive year. And the days of short lived Beasts being put for the years of lived kingdoms, the period of 1260 days, if dated from the complete conquest of the three kings A.C. 800, will end A.C. 2060.

“It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner. This I mention not to assert when the time of the end shall be, but to put a stop to the rash conjectures of fancifull men who are frequently predicting the time of the end, & by doing so bring the sacred prophesies into discredit as often as their predictions fail. Christ comes as a thief in the night, & it is not for us to know the times & seasons which God hath put into his own breast." –Isaac Newton

But... This is Christ's return and not the rapture of the saints. This is when we return with him on earth to reign a 1,000 years. If I had to pick a rapture date it would be seven years before Haley's comet next return, which would be July 28, 2054 (exactly 7 years before Haley's comet official return). And then, I must reassert Newton's statement... Christ comes as a thief in the night, & it is not for us to know the times & seasons which God hath put into his own breast."

And there again... I believe in the doctrine of expectancy, which states it is a good idea to be ready for Christ to come (rapture, calling up, whatever) at any day and at any hour.

What is Yahuda MS?

I don't think that Israel was a state when Isaac Newton was alive, so he didn't see that major prophetic event.

I found it interesting that the period of John Wesley was the time of the Church of Philadelphia and the period of Billy Graham and Jimmy Swaggert was the Laodicean Church. I admit that we are the Church of Laodicea but I think that John Wesley would roll over in his grave if he saw what has become of his church.

There are many different opinions about the four horses. I've heard that the White horse is Catholicism, which was the world power for a time, the Black horse Capitalism, the Red horse Communism and the Pale "chloros" horse is Islam. Chloros means green and the color of Islam is green. Where chloros is used in Scripture it means green, as in green grass. Irvin Baxter teaches this and he says that the translators most likely thought that a green horse didn't make sense so they called it a "pale" horse. Just another theory.

Why Joel Osteen? I like him as a motivational speaker but I don't really think of him as a pastor. I like that he smiles a lot and flutters his eyelashes, lol. But I think his sermons are really soft and when he is asked a direct question about homosexuality or anything controversial, he dodges it, he doesn't take a stand.

I like how this thread has gone from a man repenting from his sin and recanting his predictions to a thread about every wind of vain prophecy and its assertions.

Well, how long can you talk about Harold Camping? I'm just glad that no one has brought up Hal Lindsey and his mistake. He doesn't make predictions anymore. But many Christians have a hard time forgiving him.

I go to a website which has a new "possibility" every day. He emphasizes that it's not a prediction but none of the things he's concerned about ever happen.

Jim Bakker predicted a terrible earthquake a few days before the Japanese quake and tsunami.

I'm just sitting here trying to work out what the church in Laodicea has to do with Billy Graham...

I hear they have a major league covered-dish supper. The church, not Billy Graham.

He predicted an earthquake was coming at sometime in the future but he didn't say when or where.

So someone who gives a prophecy of an earthquake has to say when it will happen and where? I'm not sure God tells all of the details. He made the prediction, I can't remember, but it was very close to the time when the earthquake happened. It happened didn't it? It's still not good enough for you? When God told Noah to build the ark I don't think he told him exactly when the flood would take place. Did you see the show? I saw a video later and I thought he said it was coming soon. I could be wrong, but I remember saying, "Wow" after I saw the video.

I had a terrible toothache for days and I didn't have money to go to the dentist. While watching Jim Bakker, and believe me, I disagree with a lot of what he says Scripturally concerning Revelation, but he said, "There is someone watching who has an infection in a tooth and it is very painful. God is going to heal that but not right away. It will take a few days because the infection is really bad." It took a little more like a week and the pain was completely gone without seeing a dentist or taking antibiotics or anything. It slowly decreased until it was gone. So when he makes predictions, I pay attention, though I don't watch him all of the time because his show is kind of like an infomercial for emergency supplies. It's not quite as bad as it used to be.

I know, God could heal a toothache instantly no matter how bad it is. I don't know why it took a week after Jim Bakker said that, but I also know that tooth infections don't go away on their own. I had suspected an infection because it wouldn't get better. It has to be treated and I'd been asking God to heal me because I didn't have money and didn't want to use a credit card.

You realize how common an earthquake is right? I could predict an earthquake and not give you any details of any kind and I will be proven a prophet simply because I chose something as common as an earthquake and was vague enough that any ole tremor on the news will do.

A prophet that does not make. I've also had toothaches go away on their own, and millions of americans get toothaches.

I'm tired of all these "prophets" trampling the gospel and making us look like wackadoodles. But I realize there are people who will be carried off by every wind of doctrine and who will constantly search for signs in everything. These american money makers are not prophets, God himself isn't an american. This american culture that has crept into the church and has deluded a lot of people. They're either deluded into thinking God doesn't care if they neglect the widows or the poor or they're deluded in that they accept every little thing people like benny hinn and coincidentally alex jones spoon feeds them.

Even the USGS cannot predict when earthquakes will happen. Only God can. Earthquakes may be common but 9.0 earthquakes are not and the prediction was given as if it were imminent and very serious.

Gee, I didn't know that you were such an authority on the rest of the citizenry. You don't know me and I guess you don't know that there is a difference between a "toothache" and an "infection in a tooth". Infections do not go away unless treated, no matter where they are in the body. A simple toothache can occur from allergies or sinus inflammation. I've had that and antihistamines can get rid of them. This was an infection and I knew it, being a nurse, because it had gone on for a few weeks and was getting worse in spite of antihistamine use. I was unable to eat anything solid. I know that a tooth infection can lead to cancer in places like the pancreas and so I was really praying hard about it.

I am very fascinated by Bible prophecy and I'm very careful about believing predictions because Jesus warned us that there would be many false prophets and false teachers in the endtimes. I don't believe just any prophecy that comes along. I am often disappointed in Christians who are right now, listening to false teachers in their churches. But we are all human and hopefully those false teachers will be realized before long.

Worse, however, than the ones being deceived in these days are those who believe NOTHING. The doubting Thomases are alive and well. They think they can judge from behind a computer screen that anyone who believes anything supernatural, is "deluded" and a "follower of Benny Hinn", etc.

Should people not believe that Jesus is coming back soon since He said it 2000 yrs. ago and it still hasn't happened?

I don't have to defend this to you. Nothing will convince you because you don't want to believe.

Here is the prediction if my link works, though my links have been known to fail on occasion.
It is about 4 minutes and 50 seconds into the video.

Jim Bakker's Thoughts On Japan-Part 3 - YouTube

If it doesn't work, I'll try again but it is Jim Bakker's prediction of Japan earthquake 2011.
