The fact the Obamacare websites didn't work isn't exactly surprising considering the fact they didn't conduct any beta-testing like an competitent business would do before rolling out a website...
I don't know about other sites but I got the URL from my friends and it did eventually load to the information page. They're slammed with inquiries so there is a delay in loading the page. All of which is explained while you wait on the page so you don't lose your place in line. ^_^ Line? We don't see no stinkin line!

You can believe what they are saying. CA said they had 2 million hits - they only had 60,000 and won't say if anyone signed up.

The dirty little secret of this is that you might hold a piece of paper saying you have insurance, but finding a doctor to accept it will be the problem. Many doctors are opting out and some hospitals will not accept it because they say it will implode before it can be of any help and they will be stuck with all those claims.

and many people plan to opt out of the system. I would support a system a bit like we have now, but you would have to have insurance but it would ONLY cover things that they have to treat for now anyway like a stroke heart attack

Either by opting OUT of the system and thus causing it to fall a part before it gets started good and/or they could just if they are at least 18 just not SEEK treatment to start with. Government can't make us seek treatment.

Obamacare is a license to either get sick or remain sick. That's the fatal flaw.
do what get sick or remain sick? um but some people seem happy about it.

... either that, or shut it down now.
People aren't selfless enough to shut it down. They're too go along to get along. The days for revolution by the people and for the people are long gone. And the government knows this.

America doesn't even learn from other countries socialized medicine/government controlled health care nightmares that the majority of people suffer through. While of course the rich will never have to worry about a thing.

7 December 2012 Morphine: The cheap, effective pain-relief drug denied to millions By Joanne Silberner PRI's The World

Saying it slowly won't get through either.

Access & Treatment(s)

And if you know anyone on social security can you imagine when the cuts come to Obama care? People are paying into the system in either premiums or fines for non-compliance and sure as you're born there are going to be announcements that certain treatment programs are cut for this or that excuse. Government is going to rake in billions and they're going to excuse it's not enough. Wait and see. Just like those on SS now suffer. When there are cuts that need to be done in the budget or wherever it's the dependent that are cut sooner or later. But not the rich politicians or any member of the three branches and their salaries and perks. Nope they're untouched! And RICH! And not even a thank you to the working class that help to make that possible.
No pain, please, we're British

By Caitlin Hagan and Caleb Hellerman, CNN
Fri February 8, 2013

Semmons' experience highlights a reluctance of many UK doctors to treat pain aggressively, including a reluctance to prescribe painkillers, especially opiates -- the rampant use of which in the United States is widely described as an epidemic.
Remember years ago an article about government controlled medicine in GB and how the government dispensaries had run out of narcotic pain killers for cancer patients? So they told the patients to use the UK equivalent of Tylenol to cut the edge off the cancer pain?

Over three million citizens in America and how many will get on Obama care?
I still say Chief Justice Roberts should be dragged from the bench and imprisoned. Talk about paying back for his appointment to the bench. He is a shame! He could have saved America from the disaster other socialized medicine countries have suffered but he didn't have the guts to.

What a true shame he is. What a legacy that will outlive him. :o

Big question is how many healthy, young people are going to sign on, and how many are going to opt for the penalty?

People that need the care are motivated to plow through a few obstacles.

My guess would be a good many that do not feel they need it would rather pay the cheaper penalty.

As I've pointed out numerous times - I live in MA, where we've had this very same program for several years. I know exactly one person who's opted for the penalty, and that's because he claims he can't afford the premiums (which isn't really true, given his other spending habits). Everyone else gets the insurance - the main reason is that even though the premiums are higher than the penalty, you're actually getting something when you pay the premiums, versus getting nothing when you don't.

The couple I know can get the Platinum coverage offered in their state at 86.00 per month premium.

What state is this? :o

Do you have some proof of this, or is this another one of your baseless speculations?

What are you talking about? At least in MA, before you sign up, you can look at the program's list of doctors. I imagine most insurance programs work the same way.

Texas - lots of doctors are just waiting to see if it holds. I've lost 5 doctors in the past 2 years. My present doctor is a pharmacist and he is waiting to see what happens before he goes back to being a pharmacist.

You don't get 'nothing' when you don't pay the premiums and fork over the penalty instead. You get the ability to buy insurance at a similar rate to what you would've paid if you were prudent and had insurance before you got sick. That's valuable!

I signed up for a silver plan last night. $39.38 after the subsidies. I ain't complaining.

My guess is that most young people will have less patience than even I do with a poorly designed site that is incapable of handling the traffic in an effective manner.
I know when I was twenty health insurance was the last thing on my mind. Death and dying was for old people, and not for people who were invincible to anything that fast cars and all night parties could dish out.

Good luck on finding a doctor who will take it. What will you do when it implodes - you will be out all you paid in. It will not work.
