About an hour into the rescue, Katie asked rescue workers to pray out loud with her.

That's when a priest appeared out of nowhere."He came up and approached the patient, and offered a prayer. It was a Catholic priest who had anointing oil with him. A sense of calmness came over her, and it did us as well. I can't be for certain how it was said, but myself and another firefighter, we very plainly heard that we should remain calm, that our tools would now work and that we would get her out of that vehicle.Where did this guy come from? We're looking for the priest and so far, no one has seen him. Whether it was a priest as an angel or an actual angel, he was an angel to all those and to Katie. We would like to find this gentleman and be able to thank him."

The accident scene: What about the more dramatic miracles? Do they still happen? Can they happen when regular folks in love with the Lord share His Word and believe in His promises? Just ask Katie Lentz, her family and her friends. She is expected to make a full recovery.

CENTER, MO. (Catholic Online) - My readers know of my belief that miracles are not only real - but they can occur today, for those who have the eyes of living faith and learn to ask. I recently wrote about the miracles occurring in India. Today, I write of a miracle which occurred closer to home, in Missouri.
I offer below an excerpt from an article concerning this miracle. I stumbled upon in a secular newspaper. It was written by Rajah Maples and is entitled Mysterious priest performs miracle at site of Mercedes crash. You can read the entire article here.

"Emergency crews spent an hour and a half trying to extricate a 19-year-old Quincy woman trapped in her in crushed car on Missouri 19 near Center, Mo. The Missouri Highway Patrol said Aaron Smith, 26, crossed the center line and struck Katie Lentz head-on. Now, friends, family and those who rescued Lentz would love to find and thank a mysterious priest who they say helped make the rescue possible.

I lived in St. Louis during the flood of 1993, and I recall people in my Bible study group talking about people they knew whose car went underwater near a flooded bridge and who believed they were rescued by angels.

Another spoke of a personal experience on the Great River Road in Alton, Illinois (right across from St. Louis and a few miles north--beautiful views of the Mississippi) where she was stranded with no help (before cell phones) and was helped by people she believed were angels.

So I think God is watching over Missouri...

A beautiful story. And a timely rescue for all, either by an Priest angel or an actual angel.
I think we too are always afforded an opportunity to be someone elses angel. In times of need, even if it's a few cents at the grocery store to complete their purchase, we could give those few cents we're blessed to have to the cashier and bless everyone involved. And maybe they will one day pay it forward.
We can be angels at food banks, or for the elderly who need assistance, or at any charity locally that always needs more volunteers.

I say we should take some time out today to pray for our priests in the Church Militant and Suffering, and pray to our priests in the Church Triumphant!

Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs.

We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood.

Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith.

We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic bread.

We pray to You, O Lord, through Mary the mother of all priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen.

Amen.

I'm very curious to see of a priest steps forward.

I doubt that will happen Michie because there were no parked cars there and that part of the highway was closed off. There was no where for him to go, plus he doesnt appear in any of the pictures even though witnesses saw him there.

this just makes the hair on my arms stand straight up

It could go to these scenarios:

1.) A Catholic priest received a vision from the Holy Spirit to do something unto a certain location where there is a suffering person in calmness. He says that he will do it and then he was going to go there so The Lord sent His Angel to him in order to guide him to it at the speed of the wind. When the situation is cleared, the priest then was taken as if he was teleported by that Angel to another location in a split second, probably, back to his base.

Daniel 14: 33-39
Now, the prophet Habakkuk was in Judaea: he had been making a stew and breaking up bread into a basket. He was on his way to the fields, taking this to the harvesters, when the angel of the Lord spoke to him, 'Take the meal you are carrying to Babylon, and give it to Daniel in the lion pit.' 'Lord,' replied Habakkuk, 'I have not even seen Babylon and know nothing about this pit.' The angel of the Lord took hold of his head and carried him off by the hair to Babylon where, with a great blast of his breath, he set Habakkuk down on the edge of the pit.'Daniel, Daniel,' Habakkuk shouted, 'take the meal that God has sent you.'
And Daniel said, 'You have kept me in mind, O God; you have not deserted those who love you.' rising to his feet, he ate the meal, while the angel of God carried Habakkuk back in a moment to his own country.

2.) It is an Angel taking form of man, wearing a priest's outfit and did what the Lord God Himself commanded him to do.

Heb 13:2

Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.

The Lord Himself is indeed good! Gloria in Excelsis Deo! Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth! Pleni sunt caeli et terra gloria Tua, Hosanna in Excelsis. Benedictus qui venit in Nomine Domini hosanna in Excelsis.

3. The German priest
Bernhard Lichtenberg

Blessed Bernhard Lichtenberg was a German Catholic priest from Ohlau in Prussian Silesia who had served as a military chaplain in the First World War. He was 62 years old and the provost of the Cathedral of St Hedwig in Berlin when Kristallnacht, the notorious Nazi pogrom, convulsed Germany.

He responded to the atrocity by closing each evening’s Mass with a prayer for “the Jews and the other poor prisoners in the concentration camps”.

On October 23 1942 he also offered a public prayer for Jews who were being deported to the death camps of the East, urging worshippers to observe Christ’s commandment to “love their neighbour” specifically in relation to the Jews.

Blessed Bernhard was denounced to the authorities. He stood trial and was sentenced to two years of hard labour in Dachau concentration camp but died “on the way”. His tomb is in St Hedwig’s cathedral.

The priest was also a courageous critic of the Nazi euthanasia programme, writing in protest to the chief medical officer of the Reich.

He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 23 1996.
