When Someone Prophesies Over You..

Does everything usually start falling apart after somebody prophesied over you, until God makes it come to pass? and when somebody prophesies over you, does it take quite sometime before it comes to pass?

I heard one person say this - when God gives a word like that, there is a waiting period before it comes to pass. God will take you into a time of training and breaking - the more God has called us to, the more He needs to break us so that we don't get in the way of what He wants to do through us. This means that sometimes, when we receive a word like this, it is followed by a time when everything in our lives seems to go wrong

I Thess 5:20-21 - 20 "Despise not prophesyings." The next VERSE 21 "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." Being given a prophetic word is just the beginning of a process.

-Foremost, everything has to line up with Scriptures. We have Holy Scripture, The Holy Spirit, prayer, hearing God’s voice, spiritual discernment, and confirmation to help us. Once we have proven all things , we hold fast to that which is good (Jeremiah 10:23, Psa 37:23; Prov 3:5-6; Acts 9:9-19 especially v 10-12; II Cor 13:1).

Not always. Instead of focusing on what's going wrong, I would say the prophetic words.

God doesn't break people, but the devil does attack people. Prophecy is only meant to confirm what you already knew, it does not convey brand new, unknown information.

NO, prophecy doesn't only confirm what you already know. It brings new information to light as well. Spirit of Prophecy is the Spirit of Revelation. Get your facts right.

@OP,
When JESUS was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended on Him, He was LED INTO THE WILDERNESS to be tempted by the enemy. Not by God, but by the enemy. Trials does come sometimes before success. God allows it (not cause it) sometimes because He works everything together for HIS own good and for your good as well because you love Him and know Him.

Moral of the story...always be prayerful, be close to God and remain firm in His word. Don;t fear and stand on what He says he will do about you. God NEVER fails. When He says it (if its indeed HIM) He will do it. No doubt about that at all

test and weigh and carefully examine any prophecy given in church or to you personally. Paul says for example let 2 or 3 give prophecy then let all the rest examine it.

29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.

in fact I would be very careful of any personally received prophecy as there are many voices gone out into the world and many are not inspired by God.

Having the others judge the prophecy is what Paul says so that nothing gets accepted that is obviously off based. Prophecies will never violate what
God has already said.

I used to go to a prayer study group in my college days and our bible study leader would give personal prophecies. He was just a young man who had a lot of knowledge about the Lord and an honest heart. We found it to be a very pleasant time, a time where you could feel the presence of God. However pleasant it all was, I don't really remember any of them, but I do recall the word of the bible as the Lord brings scriptures to my mind.

I would agree. However, whenever a word or prophecy is given over someone, that Word should always --- always confirm what the person receiving the word already knows. Before God will send a Word of prophecy to you... He has already been speaking to your heart about whatever the matter might me.

As far as the rest... I agree.. there is a time of breaking, bending, sharpening.

God is not 'breaking' anyone, 'He has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant'; we 'break' ourselves through walking by sight rather than believing Him. there is a more sure word of prophecy - the scripture; don't be moved by specific 'prophecies' that people speak over you, as they might be wrong! focus on His word, and you won't consider what people might 'prophecy' over you that doesn't line up with what He's already said about you in His Word
