You've labeled it a red herring. It may be. But I don't see how. That's the issue. You've called it a red herring, given a definition of a red herring, but not explained why a clarifying question is a red herring.

I think I'm wasting my time trying to get you to defend your views on anything.
You don't seem to know the nature of a red herring and how you use it.

Yours is another false allegation that I fail to defend my "views on anything". I do that regularly on CF, so would you quit making that kind of false allegation.

No, I guess I don't understand. Please explain.
I've already explained but you are evading. "Choose this day" uses an imperative verb which means "you choose". As a determinist, you don't seem to want to understand the importance of this dimension in responding to God and the Gospel.

The original question that you responded to was "what determines your choices?"

By your own argumentation, your original response was a red herring because it mislead or detracted from the issue. My clarifying question was actually still on topic to the the original question that started our discussion on this thread.

No need to apologize. Things get confusing in threads sometimes.

Why don't you refer back to the # in this thread where I made the statement? I find your undocumented source from me to be unhelpful.

But do you see what you do? Go to my reply at #245 and compare it with your reply in #246. You again use a red herring in #246. You are leading me to conclude that you don't know what a red herring is and you don't know or want to acknowledge it when you use it.

What determines your choices?
Is not the content of these 2 verses an indicator of what choice involves?

Joshua 24:14-15

English Standard Version (ESV)

Choose Whom You Will Serve

14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

I asked you to provide a reference # in this thread when you quoted me. What did you do here? You ignored my request. Another red herring. When you don't address the request and go and do your own thing, you use a red herring.

When will this get through to you?

Why do you discriminate against immature adults?

Your words were:
I don't know for certain if babies are lost. Scripture isn't crystal clear either way. I happen to believe babies who die are all elect, but I'm not dogmatic about it.

You could just click on the quote arrow. And it will be the exact quote I posted. But if you need the exact number, it's post 128.

That's too bad.

In Jn 10:37,38 Jesus continues to stress reasons to believe he is God's Son:

Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.

Jesus says these words to those who have attempted to stone Him - those whom he has described as 'not my sheep'.

You:
Why is God, Christ, Spirit, "deity", whatever trying to save people he knows won't ever believe?

Jesus is doing the very thing you say would be pointless.

Do you think Jesus doesn't know whether or not the people he is talking to will believe? Has Jesus lost his omniscience here?

Jesus was God and man and did not consider equality with God as something to be grasped at. Jesus may have know.

I did make a point which I can't see that you have address. Are you denying what Jesus said?

'...even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.'

I think your theology prevents you from accepting what Jesus is clearly saying.

Did he or not? Was Jesus omniscient? Yes or no? Your answer is important.

My theology prevents me from accepting what Jesus is saying? How? Please, substantiate your assertion.

No.

Omniscient means 'knowing everything'.

Jesus is demonstrating his sonship (of God) to Jews who have attempted to stone him and of whom Jesus has said, 'you are not my sheep'.
