A fourth grade "science" quiz from South Carolina has been making the rounds on the internet. I think it is symptomatic of why our students don't understand science. There isn't any legitimate science in the entire quiz, or any answer based on scientific study. The article is mistitled (there is no questioning of whether or not dinosaurs existed), but the quiz itself looks real. Anyway, take a look. Funny and sad at the same time.

Brilliantly sneaky.

People see Snopes and think it means the claim is false.

But in this case it seems they are pretty much confirming this is true.
It should be true.

If that is what the student is taught, that is how the student should answer.

And speaking of "brilliantly sneaky," did the OP mention it was a private Christian school?

From my link:
A friend of one of the parents who has a child enrolled in the fourth grade class posted the quiz sheets on the internet. The parent, like all parents who have children enrolled at this academy, had signed a statement, which acknowledged an understanding that sending their child to this Christian school would mean they would be taught biblical Christianity. The parent expressed dismay that his daughter was taught a biblical approach to dinosaurs. The quiz’s posting to the internet resulted in a number of atheist websites reposting the questions and answers, and many of them responded in rage and vehement attacks on the school.
Looks like the agnostics are getting in on that rage now, doesn't it?

How would you have graded his paper, Keith, if you would have taught him that?

Uh, yes, unless you are contrasting to public Christian schools.

Why would anyone teach a kid that stuff? I'd fire the teacher!
Fine -- but that's not what I asked.

(And, no, you wouldn't fire the teacher. In fact, you probably hired him.)

That or fire whomever put together that curriculum.
I somehow seriously doubt you would be placed in a position to fire someone from Blue Ridge Christian Academy for grading that test.

If anything, you would have hired him.

The school is a Christian school. What did Christ believe?
Christ believed that every word of the Scriptures is true.
Christ believe that the Scriptures are the inspired word of God.
Christ believed in the Fourth Commandment, which states that God created the world in six days.
Christ believed that Adam and Eve were real people.
Christ believed in Noah and the great flood that destroyed all air breathing living creatures not on the ark.
Christ believed that Jonah was swallowed by a great fish.
Christ did not believe the earth to be 65 million years old.
Christ knew that man was created by God; that he did not evolve.
Christian schools should teach children what Christ believed. If you don't like it, don't enroll your child. If you think the school shouldn't have the right to teach Biblical truths, then take your totalitarian self to China. We are one nation, under God.
We tolerate atheists, but they are a minority. Most people know better.
This world functions according to the laws of God, not the laws of science. If you can't understand this, get a fourth grader to help you.

Then your point can take a hike.

Stop acting like you're behind one of their desks in a prominent position.

Anything to ridicule.

What a joke. You have no idea what Jesus actually believed or didn't believe.
The point is that absolutely nothing on the quiz was science. Nothing was derived from scientific investigation. Nothing. Why was it called a "science quiz?" Why wasn't it called a "creation" quiz or even a "bible" quiz?

Yes, it is a private Christian school. Nevertheless, what is being taught there as "science" is not science. I would think you would agree with me on that..

You stated I would Hire them,
Fine -- then let's put it succinctly.

You would never make it on their payroll -- so you would neither hire nor fire them.

How's that?

You know the exact School that made this abomination of a test ?
And you know their current Hiring practices ?
