There's a song about what I'm doing today:

I'm grilling in the snow, just grillin in the snow ... (Yes, it's the third season of the year here - still winter)

Salmon. Marinated in lemon, ginger, and courtesy of Tangible - cilantro.

Man is that stuff good! It can be an overpowering flavor, but not compared to fish, or ginger. Goes great mixed with red peppers too! (Another strong flavor)

Not a bachelor's 1 ingredient recipe today: fresh salad! Fresh spinach for a base, with about equal parts red leaf lettuce, said red peppers and cilantro, left the campari tomatoes whole on the side, and broccoli. Freshest, purplest broccoli you've ever seen! Prepping all this took a while so I had to have a bunch of it dipped in dressing, and of course I had to mix in some of the most finely chopped cilantro into the dressing first. :yum:

I'm so inspired I think I'll have to get the ingredients for Tangible's guac. Pink lemonade goes well with all this - no margaritas needed! ^_^

Listening to Lee Morgan with Jackie McLean, Hank Mobley, and Cedar Walton ... (rehearsal was cancelled today, hence my celebration)

Man am I stuffed! Needed it though, lots of work the next couple of days and I'm run down from skiing my legs off - feeling much better now :)

Marinating bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin for tomorrow (no cilantro lol)
I can't wait to make my salmon this way next time!
Already had fish 3 or 4 times in the past week. MMM.

I love cilantro and recently found it was much easier to manage
with kitchen shears.
Now I use them for scallions and even when I chop deli meat to
put in my lettuce salad lol.

sounds great, how was the tenderloin?
Skiing! good for you. Spring is supposed to
be coming around soon, enjoy it while you can!

Todays I had a big glass of ... you guessed it lol.
You could make it without the (shh green stuff that popeye eats)

  • 2 apples
  • 2 bananas
  • half to full cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 bottle of carrot juice
  • tsp fresh ginger root
  • Nice big cucumber
  • (hopefully minus pesticides )
  • juice of one keylime or lemon or..w/e
  • OH and today I added almond milk
  • and MMM was that a good plan
  • And then a boatload of what you don't like

OR how bout frozen watermelon and frozen banana,
smoothie? supposed to be delish, just like a treat!

I'll eat 1-2 grams of fat per meal throughout the day and save my juicy 10 grammer (or so) for dinner.
Hmmm, I am clueless about fat grams and such.
I do know though, that when spring came I told it
to go home for a while so I can shed that winter
fat LOL

Behaving yourself?:p

Yeah, I should have said, since your a green smoothis queen (bleck!) ^_^ I need meal kinds of recipes. I already drink like three smoothies a day on my diet.

Fat grams just sorta "sum up" the amount of fat intake you have, whereas the calories in any dish (besides that) can be higher or lower depending on the actual portion size. But fat grams and calories and such are often posted under each recipe at allrecipes. I collected quite a few but I think I have to reskim over any newers ones.

Makes things more interesting too:thumbsup:

Im on my own I guess lol

And yeah, I had to get out of here for awhile (sorry for any boredom you incurred). Though, I highly doubt that because you are pretty good at self entertainment ^_^

I can entertain myself for hours too, its truly a gift:p

God bless you sista' sunshine'

My wife is always drinking green smoothies that look like seaweed. Thankfully, she's already recovered enough from her surgery to start washing dishes again. I'm not kidding, if I had to hand wash one more green, slimey looking cup or glass or one more blender pitcher full of the same...

Don't mind me, I'm just venting.

lol.

Hmmm, I am clueless about fat grams and such.

There's a strong theory to say the carbohydrate (grams) are far more direct towards fat loss. There's a glycemic index which is relevant to this, which makes it such that it's really hard to get fat by overeating veggies. The worst 2 fruits? Pineapple and watermelon, with bananas not terribly far behind. One banana is a LOT of food! Fresh fruit in the morning is great because our glucogen stores (blood sugar) is depleted. No matter what we eat, those will be restored first, so might as well live it up a bit then. Same thing after intense exercise.

My friend went on a liquid diet--so she took a slice of cheesecake, put it in her Vita-mix along with some 1/2 and 1/2 and yoghurt and more sugar with a little vanilla and some cherry pie filling and a few ice cubes!!!---Somehow, I don't think that's quite what the doctor had in mind!!

What do you buy? do they taste good? what's the nutritional profile? (grams of protein vs carbs)

Its just okay bro, maybe because Im sorta tired of them over the many years of drinking them.

And I just get the whey protien from GNC (various, vanilla, chocolate, and banana strawberry) use skim milk (ice) an equal pack and chose out of a number of my #10 cans to add into one. Of freeze dried fruits (my favs are either pineapple, strawberry, banana) and/ or peanut butter powder (into whichever one I make). I like the chocolate peanut butter sometimes to break up the fruity thing going on (with the others). The peanut butter powder is low in fat (unlike the stuff at the store).

Each serving of protien powder is 110 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 20 grams of protein and 4 grams of carbohydrates.

Though you can higher the protein by adding into it powdered eggwhites. I get those too. One Tbsp of eggwhites is just 20 calories and adds 4 grams of protien and 0 fat. I buy this in a #10 can too.

But I dont do that, I used to when I used to bodybuild, but that was in my earlier years, cant do that anymore so there is no need. We tend to be fatso's later on because we go from obsessive excercise to sitting on our rumps. ^_^ Well some (like me) but because of an injury I cannot.

But me and my husband have always used that Bill Phillips diet "body for life". You need to eat 5-7 times a day (smaller meals throughout the day). Works well though, always has (for us both). 3 of those meals we take up for the shakes otherwise I'd be having to make too many meals (and man is that a royal pain)

The only fun stuff to cook is the fattening stuff (licking your fingers as you go)^_^

If you can get Sci-Fit brand it ROCKS. Cheaper, tastes WAY better (with milk its totally yummy, is even good with water) nutrition about the same. Not sure if there's a distributor near you

 All my younger years, working so hard, I lived on 1 meal per day. Absolute worst thing you can ever do ...

This is def the way to use protein drinks

Yeah Im thinking not lol

I forgot to look but I will do so when I go to the store (because I love cheesecake too) and theres a cheescake powder you can buy. Its either in one of those boxed (not homemade) cheesecakes or pudding mix deals. I would agree (not so good) but when you gotta a craving (and on a diet) even what you would typically reject becomes tempting lol

Im glad for your post because I go food shopping tommorrow and I got me a craving ^_^ I want to see if I can manage a lower in fat cheesecake type shake.

Glad for my diet though once a week you can eat whatever you want (and as much of it) as you desire so I can have the real thing then anyway.

Thanks for the reccomendation, this is great to know. I know my husband buys so much of it and I cringe

No, you are absolutely 100% correct, I know this by experience I have gotten FAT on one meal a day, and off season for three months would gain 15 lbs (resting from having to eat so much) because you honestly burn out having your life revolve around food and all of the gym stuff. I lose weight at 7 small meals and get FAT on one meal a day.

Its hard to get in gear to even desire eating so often. Man I just hate it because I try to concentrate on studying and need to set a timer (to remind me to eat) I detest (up, down, up down, up down) not mention the zilliong trips to the bathroom from guzzling water by the tons. I really hate this stuff.^_^

But my big ol' butt is huge and it will typically add futher problems to my back if I dont get moving.

Its all a drag to me. I will deal (for a time) I suppose

You got snow? Man we have tornado warnings here lol Hope if any hit my grill wont be taken lol Although Im not really fond of this grill so it wouldnt be such a bad thing.

Sitting on whether I should leave my doggies (at home) while I go food shopping, or risk going out and the hopeful possibility of being taken up in a whirlwind lol.

Im choosing the latter, so heading out now:thumbsup:

I wonder how many calories I burned thinking bout this?:p

It's snowing.

SNOW?!!?1!

Yup. MAJOR snow.

Checking the date stamp. Checking my phone. Still April. Not early April, still April 19th.

Still snowing.

This can only mean one thing: per sacred tradition, I must GRILL

Grilling in the snow has become tradition. That's going to make for one long summer, being unable to grill with no snow ...

Snow?

Where do you live, if I might ask?
