Yes, on principle no. I would kick the fussiness out of her using a term of phrase. Alcohol dependency is not necessarily caused by alcohol, it is caused by culture.
What alcohol? I cooked it out on the stove. I mixed it with cream an egg and parmesan cheese.

I did think what I was doing so she had no alcohol.

In 10 min it was all gone. :)

Yes. It's fine.

I'd rather see kids eat tons of raw veggies and sea salt, but that's just me. I was raised on pasta. Monday, we had plain pasta with sauce. Tuesday, that same pasta showed up on the table, with hot dog slices in it. Wednesday? That pasta was right there mocking us, only we'd picked the hot dog pieces out on Tuesday, so instead there was chicken in it. Thursday? Sausage in the pasta. By friday we had a new batch of pasta on the table, only rather than spaghetti, mercifully, we were spared by rigatoni.

Sorry, memories. Pasta trauma.

Nothing wrong with the way you're cooking it. Sounds delicious.

my 12 year old girl is fussy food wise and tonight I made her a recipe that used pasta eggs, cream parmesan cheese anda dash of white wine. She absolutely loves it would you feed a kid that? The alcohol is gone via heat on stove.

I mix sherry wine with my macaroni and cheese all the time. There's nothing wrong or illegal about it. Rum cake isn't illegal for minors. I think(don't quote me on this), the laws for alcohol with minors is based on alcohol percentage of the entire food. Since 1) you're baking most of it off, and 2) you're mixing the wine with other ingredients, you should be fine from a legal standpoint.

Yay thanks guys. My only disappointment was her choice of ham as an inclusion. As I am vegetarian I do not like this but do not stop it. I told her your eating fancy restaurant food tonight.
tonight.

Can you imagine a guy next year taking her to Mcdonalds to impress her in high school?

Hidden wasn't sayingthere was alcohol in the food. They were saying they would be hesitant is that often we make alcohol acceptable by our actions. They are just concerned it might be sending the wrong message to your daughter regarding alcohol. I know when I was old enough to drink people at church introduced me to a drinking culture. Luckily as it was starting to get out of control I realised I was starting to have a problem. So just be careful in the message your sending. As far as the cooking goes your right there is nothing wrong there.

Legally, parents can give their children alcohol. It's not culturally acceptable here to crack open a bottle of wine and share it with the kids over dinner, but it's perfectly legal.

(Although getting the kids roaring drunk is bound to get child services involved! Would not recommend. ;))

Edit: It's perfectly legal in Ohio, not all 50 states. Thanks for the correction hedrick. :)

Just so you know, the alcohol is never 100% cooked off. Here's a handy list to help you decide what is best for you and your daughter:

Time/Process Alcohol Remaining
Immediate Consumption: 100%
Boil & Remove: 85%
Flamed: 75%
15 Minutes: 40%
30 Minutes: 35%
1 Hour: 25%
2.5 Hours: 5%

Two things you could try instead of alchohol.

Elderflower Presse / Cordial. It has a flowery taste similar to a white wine but zip alchohol. Admittidly its a UK thing and may be an imported luxury where you live.

A good fresh pressed apple juice - has the zing of wine with a little vitC.

We have a lot of fussy kids in our parish area; mostly down to poverty and a diet poor in fresh produce. The best way I have found to get them eating is to invite them to help me cook and suggest things we could try. I do tend to start from something they know and is not too alien for them like chips- but make a fresh tomatoe salsa type sauce to dip them in instead of the cheap ketchup full of fillers they are used to.

Not an option at all. Groceries were low/non existent and I was trying to make dinner interesting.

I Live in Australia, I go to church in an ex pub with its bar stil in tact as our after service eating place.

Unfortunately in australia alcohol is deeply in grained in our culture and even if I wrapped her up in cotton wool until she was 18 it would do no good afterwards. Diluted with water wine flavouring in dinner should not see her enrolled in the Betty ford clinic next week or the one after. She is banned from drinking here in our housetill she is of age and It wont be encouraged.

she had no idea what she was eating..

Ok the math mix cheap wine with water. put a splash in
wine = 13% alcohol water it down = 6-7% after 20 min it wouldn't bother a mouse.

If it had any intoxicating effects the vegetables served up with it were uneaten, and creative excuses were carefully created for not eating it lol so everything was normal.

If I made a stew with half bottle of it and cooked it for 10 min we would have issues.

I don't see anything wrong. It's like having beer-battered fish. You taste the flavor produced by the beer, that's all. Yes, the alcohol is still there, but guess what? You don't have to tell her what the ingredients are! Even if you do, explain you are using it for cooking and not drinking and there is a big difference between the two.

In 29 states of the US. In the others, it's not. [In my state, it apparently varies by municipality.]

Yes. I don't think that is a bad meal. What kind of food is fussy about? I'd encourage her to try any healthy foods.

It's fine. Probably had as much alcohol left over as a dose of Robitussin!

Perhaps kids wouldn't be so picky if more of us cooked things that actually have flavor! I'm sure it's different here, I live in upstate NY in a rural town where everyone works and nobody cooks, and it seems like all I see little kids eating are baked chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese! No wonder big kids won't eat anything but chicken nuggets and mac and cheese! Good for your daughter for having some taste buds!

*I don't give alcohol to minors in any quantity.
It's against the law in the part of the country I'm from and though it may not be against the law in yours, I wouldn't have it in my home if a child was living with me...IMHO.

I also note the high rate of alcohol usage in your country and mine--
and the rising increase of minors/youth abusing alcohol.

I know we have the "freedom in Christ" and in some areas of the world, we have the law that supports the consumption of alcohol etc.
I also know we are not to abuse that freedom in Christ, to cause a weaker person to stumble...so caution is recommended...I dare say,
it's highly recommended where there's a high rate of alcohol abuse prevalent where one lives.
