What did Jesus look like? a few questions.

Matthew's description of the events in Gethsemane offers an obvious clue to the face of Jesus. It says that Judas had to point out to the soldiers who among the disciples was Jesus. It is clear that his features were typical of Galilean Semites of his era. In keeping with Jewish tradition, he was bearded as well. It is the Bible, however, that resolves the question of the length of Jesus's hair. While most religious artists have put long hair on Christ, most biblical scholars believe that it was probably short with tight curls. This assumption, however, contradicted what many believe to be the most authentic depiction: the face seen in the image on the famous—some say infamous—Shroud of Turin. The shroud is believed by many to be the cloth in which Jesus's body was wrapped after his death. Although there is a difference of opinion as to whether the shroud is genuine, it clearly depicts a figure with long hair. Those who criticize the shroud's legitimacy point to 1 Corinthians, one of the many New Testament books the apostle Paul is credited with writing. In one chapter he mentions having seen Jesus—then later describes long hair on a man as disgraceful. Would Paul have written "If a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him" if Jesus Christ had had long hair? Jesus, as drawings from the first century depict, would have had short hair, appropriate to men of the time. The historic record also resolved the issue of Jesus's height. From an analysis of skeletal remains, archeologists had firmly established that the average build of a Semite male at the time of Jesus was 5 ft. 1 in., with an average weight of about 110 pounds. Since Jesus worked outdoors as a carpenter until he was about 30 years old, it is reasonable to assume he was more muscular and physically fit than westernized portraits suggest. His face was probably weather-beaten, which would have made him appear older, as well.

Would He have had long hair or short hair?

Can you please provide as much data as possible on this? Thank you

Also, can someone please explain 1 Corinthians 11:14-15.

Thank you.
I personally believe that the shroud of Turin has the imprint of Christ's face.
The image fits the description of Christ in Isaiah in that the Christ would
not be comely and that when people looked on Him, His physical appearance
would not be such that it would draw people to Him.

It doesn't matter really. The best way to answer your question... have you even been curious after hitting puberty what a womans body looks like? There is your answer. Curiosity.

I get your point, but my answer to that is, not really. Hahah.

I just wanted to add these thoughts...

1) Maybe, just maybe there are so many pictures of JESUS that look kind of similar, is because many of us have seen HIM. (dreams, visions etc...).

2) But saying all that, even though its Christmas. We don't follow a baby in a manger any more than a man that walked the shores of Galilee. HIS appearance was changed, (to a degree) after the Resurrection, so that HIS own disciples couldn't recognize HIM. HE had to reveal HIMSELF to them, or they couldn't see.

Hint: it is the same today, we need continual revelation of who HE is!

Paul said that there are different glories for different beings and states.
Your body is one type, but the real you, the SPIRIT inside looks a lot like you, but is still better and different again.

There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 1 Corinthians 15:40

But back to my main point, (and if this is going off topic, sorry).
Is that there are many in the world including some Christians that can handle this 'baby in a manger' but can't handle (or wish to stretch themselves) to this thought of a Risen KING!

They are happy with this JESUS and HIS wisdom on the shores of Galilee but don't understand that HE is the WISDOM of GOD and HE is in you!
Now! Today! see Colossians 1:27

You got me thinking again Zeener..Thanks!

and Merry Christmas to those that 'get it' and to those of us, that 'think we get it'.:)

It is almost certain, that we have the actual burial cloth of Christ and if you examine the moment of ressurection scorched imprint of Christs body on the cloth in this site...you can see some facial characteristics including length of hair : The Shroud of Turin Website - Home Page .

As to the passage you referenced, here is an explanation of it broken down : http://versebyversecommentary.com/1-corinthians/1-corinthians-114-6/

There is scripture that tells what he looked like. Some has already been posted here but he wasn't very handsome. He is said to have been average for the time period.

He did not have had blond hair, blue eyes, and white skin that is a ridiculous depiction. He was middle eastern and would have had dark skin and dark features. And probably a beard as it was custom to his time.

If you have never watched The Real Face of Jesus on the history channel I encourage you too. It was a great show and they create the face of Jesus with computer technology. They usually show it around Easter time.

Saw it. Yes, very interesting.

It's been years since I've pictured Jesus as white.
