If not now when, well maybe after we find out a single fact in the case...like did he get them illegally, legally, was he unbalanced in a way that an exam could have seen or not...and a dozen other factors.

But as I have said once already, this is not the political subforum. Keep this thread for prayers and information.

Yay! Judging the gunman makes us the good guys!

Killed 20 children. Probably was a saint.

Maybe we should steer this topic about gun control like you tried.

From what news outlets are saying, the guns were purchased legally by the mother and the shooter suffered from Asperger's.

Excellent scripture choise calling everyone to take notice of our times and to get right with the Lord  Here's another one.
Luke 21:28 "But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
"Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man" - Luke 21:36

Christ have mercy...

Did you all know - in Switzerland - citizens have been required to own guns since the 1400's?
And did you know - they seldom [if ever] went into war because nations fear the liberal use of said weapons and ownership.
http://www.guncite.com/swissgun-kopel.html

We ought to take a page or three out of their rule book - since they have the Lowest rate of crime anywhere.

Ban guns at school? No teachers and such should carry them in holsters. [Kids would behave too - double bonus]
Theaters should not ban them.
No bans anywhere - and watch criminal wanna be's cower at the idea of being shot at.

AS for this tragedy... it hurts the very core of my soul that small babies were killed and their parents have empty arms - which at any time of the year is horrid - but before Christmas - the joys of being with their child and not having them there - is immeasurably awful.

Are you suggesting conscription in lieu of a standing army, like in Switzerland, and firearms and the license to posess them to be issued after military training has been completed, like in Switzerland, WA? I'm kinda surprised that you didn't mention thr Switzerland has pretty much the highest rate of firearms deaths in Europe, did that slip your mind? Did you also forget to mention that the Swiss are generally rich, and tht Switzerland really doesn't have much of a seedy underbelly, mostly because it is rather remote and not much at all is trafficked through Switzerland?

Switzerland didn't go to war often because they stayed neutral in most conflicts and because their land is of little strategic importance, not because the mighty militaries if their world are terrified of Swiss riflemen. Switzerland is a fascinating country, but few if any parallels can be drawn between it and the US.

If you're going to bring up another country as an example, you might want to tell the whole truth about them.

this is true. However most of the gun related deaths in Switzerland are from suicide, not homicide.

Switzerland doesn't have a standing military. So they train young men military tactics and give them a standard rifle to keep at home in the case of an invasion.

The reason why Switzerland has such low crime rates is due to its generous social programs and welfare systems. As well as having very small "crime sub culture". Drug addiction is treated medically rather than criminally, which has dramatically lowered their blackmarket. There is very little gang prevalence because they do not glorify gangs, drugs, and guns like American media and music do. Plus their schools are much safer because they don't have the gang culture like American inner city schools.

We know this shooter had many medical problems, mental and physical. Why wasn't he under proper medical supervision? Didn't the doctors see the signs? If anything it shows a good case of our failing medical system in the U.S. The mental anguish and stress among US teenagers and young adults is well beyond what is natural.

Now instead of speculation as to why this happened, as the OP can I ask that this is now a thread for prayer.

It's hard to comprehend this tragedy , and it's harder still to try and understand how one person could do this dreadful deed.

We are commanded to forgive people, and ask for forgiveness [ Forgiveness Vespers ] , but it's hard to do but it is our Christian duty .

We will never know what caused the killer to do this - all anyone can do is speculate.

Now we need to pray , pray again and keep praying for the children , the teachers , the psychologist and the killer's mother.

Eternal memory

We need also to pray :-

for the survivors - the families who have a gap in their midst now - a gap which will never be filled , which can never be filled - that they will receive healing and comfort .

For the whole community there, which has gone through something we most probably have never experienced and never , hopefully , will, that they will be supported now and in the years to come .

Lord have mercy

Just because you say it does not mean you are correct.
Switzerland world wide has the lowest rate of deaths and violent crimes.

So low in fact....

BBC News | EUROPE | Switzerland and the gun

Guns are deeply rooted within Swiss culture - but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept.

So i dont know where you get the idea they have a high rate - i noticed you didnt offer any publication.

Note: BBC is European.

I said gun death rate, silly. Don't move goalposts.

Fascinating. Now answer the questions I posed to you directly either here or in another thread, instead of dodging them.

Anhelyna, I'd take you a lot more seriously if you quit screaming in a "prayer thread".

There's plenty of opportunity for debate in the Politics section...:prayer:

One of the doctors who carried out some of the autopsies was in tears recounting his dreadful duty...:(
I made a separate thread in OBOB called Switzerland. IMHO - peace is the purpose of God fearing ppl.

Secondly, i heard an almost sobbing report about the autopsies.
He could hardly get thru it.

I am thankful i am not in that line of business. Surely, it has to be awful to see such tragedy - and get thru it - all the while seeing such fragile innocent lives - gone. Knowing how the parents are struck to their cores.

Our family saw tragedy - tho the world pretends they are better - it never goes away. And they must pretend they are not stuck in time where their hearts are pierced to the core - permanently.

My SIL said 'ppl act like 'life goes on' so dont be stuck in the past' as tho they have no idea that there is no comfort, there is never enough well meaning wishes or hugs that replace or return the child that used to be in their arms.

The sadness of this - as all the world goes on their merry way - remains an indelible mark in the hearts of parents - especially the mother who bonded with that child since the first she knew she has conceived.

:crossrc:
I can only pray their one comfort - the Lord Himself - is strong in their lives. And that one day - their struggles and reunion is beyond all measures of human joy.

This morning while my husband and I were sitting in the Quaker meeting - the scripture, "Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted for they are no more." The visual I got was of the Virgin Mary weeping - like doubled over, balled up, wailing and weeping. What I got from that is that heaven itself is weeping.

I visualize the Lord holding the children and their joy without description.
I also could see Him saddened over the loss of any souls that refused Him... perhaps, but i dont know, the one who murdered the children but had no time to repent.

I only know on this side of life - there is pain. Not on the other - for those embraced by the Lord. And it is with a heavy heart - that the parents of these children - remain separated from their beloved.
