No. I was a sinner. God chose me, redeemed me and now I am saved. I no longer have sin because God has taken it away.

Still doesn't take away from the fact that, from your point of view, God used to hate you because you used to be seen as a sinner before he saved you.

Not so. I was saved from the time I was a small child, so his hatred of me would have been quite short-lived. I don't think God hates babies, but I could be wrong.

Why are we then told to confess our sins?

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

I think you're getting a little confused. As a Christian, we are cleansed from sin. That doesn't mean we don't/won't sin. We still do wrong. You are incapable of being perfect, so long as you are human. That is why we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness.

We are both sinner and saint until Jesus returns.

You'll find out. Sin doesn't go to heaven. Neither do sinners. Reformed sinners or former sinners do, current sinners go straight to the fire pit. Revelation 22 makes this very clear. You'll learn.

You can't say God hates sinners and then say babies don't sin, because that's what you're implying (by saying God doesn't hate babies).

I haven't ever seen, "all have sinned, except the babies, and fall short of the glory of God".

We were conceived in sin and born into iniquity.

I don't believe sex is sinful, so I reject that view. God does hate babies though, you are right. He hated Esau and did not choose him for salvation. He was damned from his creation.

How do you know you were saved as a small child? Are you 100% sure you weren't just deceived? It says your catholic so I'm just curious as to if you know you weren't just deceived by a catholic priest or something. Can you give us a quick salvation testimony? Usually everyone who has been saved has a testimony.

Either way, what i said was "from your point of view". Which is what you have been saying in this thread for the past 20 minutes now is that God hates sinners. So you can't disagree when i say from your point of view that God used to hate you before you were saved. Because if that's what you are saying then yes for however long you weren't saved, God hated you because you were a sinner. Short-lived or not.

Not anymore though, so I'm good.

Are you that sure you never sin?

Do you really want to try and claim to be sinless in the eyes of God on your own works and merit?

You are haughty and proud for one thing, an abomination in the bible.

So I presume God hates you too?

I'm having a really hard time accepting that your saved, it really doesn't seem like it. I don't think a Christian would go around calling things gay and be so harsh to other people as you have been. Can you give us some proof that your saved? Maybe some info on what happened to you when you were saved?

Jude 1:21-23
21 Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

I wonder why it tells us to hate even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh? That saying "love the sinner hate the sin", comes not from the word, or God, it came from a man, who did not understand what the word teaches. This does not mean we do not love, because we love people with the love of Christ, to tell them what they need to hear and try to save them. God is love, but He also hates. We love, but we also hate. Christ's nature in the place of ours. Yes, it says "for God so loved the world". He loved the world because He gave His son in hopes that the world, through Christ, might repent and be saved. This does not mean that He doesn't hate those who utterly reject what has been given through Christ. Because He gave everyone a chance to come to Him. But not everyone has or will.
Psalm 139:20-24
20 For they speak against You wickedly;
Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred;
I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

Thank you! At least someone here has some sense.

The difference between us and sinners, is that we are being cleansed from those sins daily through repentance, hating what we do in our hearts, and not living by our sinful nature. We must realize that we are not perfect, and we hate our own sinful nature, just as much as everyone else. I must realize that I am the worst of all sinners, first. Then I can see clearly, what comes from me, is what comes from everyone, and our sinful nature/ourselves, is to be hated, and died to daily.

Leaving this thread now. No point in debating further.

You are saint AND sinner at the same time because of Christ and because you by grace through faith believe in Him.

If you think you do everything perfect in your life, I'm sure that your friends and family could verify that you mess up just like the rest of us ;)

When God looks at us (believers) He sees us through cross-colored glasses, but because we are still in these sinful bodies, we sin daily. We cannot love God with our whole heart. We cannot love our neighbors as ourselves. There are things we do that we aren't even aware are sinful.

You cling to the Gospel message which is great...that Jesus has cleansed you...but you ignorantly forget that the Law still hammers down upon you to help bring you to repentance in that you still SIN (just like the rest of us).

Everyone just loves to put that last clause in bold. Nobody ever wonders what it means to show 'mercy, mixed with fear', but a Biblical reason to hate even the clothing of that 'corrupted flesh'? Oh yeah, we're all about that.
