Moderator Crowley became focus of debate when talked turned to Libya

NEW YORK — Candy Crowley’s signature moment as moderator of Tuesday’s rough-and-tumble presidential debate came when she was called upon to referee a dispute over President Barack Obama’s description of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya as an act of terror.
When Republican Mitt Romney questioned whether the president had done so, Crowley said, “He did, in fact, sir.”

Can you say that a little louder, Candy?” Obama said, as the debate’s audience broke into applause.

Similarly, there was applause when Crowley suggested that it also took others in the administration as much as two weeks to abandon the idea that the attacks were related to protests over an anti-Islam video.
“I was trying to bring some kind of clarity to the situation,” Crowley said later.

She's just stating facts. Too bad Rmoney forgot to bring the facts.

One would think the center of this issue was how wrong Rmoney got his facts? But hey, let's make it about the moderator.

These are the facts.....

Sorry, Rmoney was wrong.

LOL. I provide exactly what was said and how it happened. You, on the other hand say what you want it to be. Even Crowley later admitted..she was wrong. Will you?

Mitt Romney Debates President Obama And Candy Crowley
Political Realities ^| 10/17/12 | LD Jackson

It's really hard for any political candidate to debate effectively when they are debating two opponents at the same time. That's what Mitt Romney had to do last night and he had his work cut out for him. I'm not convinced he completely pulled it off, but he gave it a good shot. Candy Crowley was clearly in the President's corner. It was never more obvious than in the exchange over Libya. The President told a bald-faced lie when he said he called the attack on our consulate an act of terror the day after it happened. He did no such thing and it seemed everyone in the building knew it, except for Candy Crowley.

During the speech Obama gave in the Rose Garden after the attacks, he did not call the attack in Libya an act of terror. In the following days and weeks, he and his surrogates were all over the news shows and in front of the United Nations, making sure everyone one knew it was that stupid video. How long did it take them to admit they were wrong about that? About three weeks. How long did it take them to admit they have been openly lying to the American people about what they knew and when they knew it? To my recollection, we are still waiting for that part of the truth to emerge from their mouths. When Mitt Romney tried to call him out on that lie, Crowley shut him down.

Some conservatives are claiming Romney failed to drive the point home, but what was he to do, tell the moderator to shut up and let him speak?
After the fact and during the aftermath of the debate, Candy Crowley admitted she was wrong and Mitt Romney was right. Too little, too late. About 60 million people watched as she took sides with the President on Libya and prevented Romney from making a completely valid point. The number of people who see her retraction is sure to be much smaller. That's what I mean when I say Mitt Romney was debating two opponents at the same time. It is also why I believe the Republican Party and any future presidential candidate should refuse to participate in future presidential debates, unless there are changes made to the process of selecting the moderators. Us allowing our candidates to be grilled and lectured by liberal moderators, with no chance of rebuttal, is just plain foolish.

You are confusing two different issues, just as Rmoney tried to do.

No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for,"

Besides, the label on the attack is irrelevant. What is terror anyways? Why is it 'terror' when the attack comes from the enemy? How will calling it terror bring back the dead?

It doesn't. Rmoney is a pompous jerk.

About "the applause."

Michelle Obama Broke Agreed Upon Rules, Clapped At Debate (video)
RealClearPolitics ^| October 17, 2012 | RealClearPolitics

At the second presidential debate on Tuesday night, a camera caught first lady Michelle Obama clapping after moderator Candy Crowley told Republican presidential candidate Gov. Mitt Romney that President Obama called the Benghazi attack an "act of terror" soon after the attack on the U.S. consulate.
Nearly all of the audible applause came from those sitting away from the actual debate, but when FOX News' camera shot moved to a bird's-eye view it became apparent that the only applause from the participating debate audience came from first lady Michelle Obama. Mitt Romney's wife Ann was also sitting with the debate participants.

She was wrong ... she over-stepped her bounds as moderator. Apparently, even she realizes it.
After the debate, debate moderator Candy Crowley said Republican nominee Mitt Romney was “right in the main” but “picked the wrong word” on the Obama administration’s immediate response to the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead.

Crowley interrupted Romney during the debate, insisting that President Obama had in fact called the attack an “act of terror.”
In fact, the president never did ... though he did use the word terror in a statement that day.

Sorry, Rmoney was wrong.

Those are the facts.
Romney was right when he sais Obama didn't call the attack an act of terror. Obama was wrong when hr claimed he did. Crowley was wrong to take sides in the dispute and she was wrong in her claim that Obama did refer to it as terror

“Say that again Candy”

CNN's Candy Crowley: Romney Was Actually Right On Libya - YouTube

CANDY CROWLEY:
Well, you know, I heard the pres[]ent speak at the time. I, sort of, reread a lot of stuff about Libya because I knew we’d probably get a Libya question so I kind of wanted to be up on it.

Didn't Candy choose the questions that would be called on to begin with?

CANDY CROWLEY:
So I knew that the pres[]ent had, had, said, you know, these acts of terror won’t stand or, whatever the whole quote was.
I went to CSPAN to check on this and found Obama stated these were:
Obama Rose Garden Comments:
"...extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi."

"The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack."

"And make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people."
It wasn't until Obama remarked that this "attack" by these "killers" had actually took place on September 11th.
Obama Rose Garden Comments:

"Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks. We mourned with the families who were lost on that day. I visited the graves of troops who made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hallowed grounds of Arlington Cemetery, and had the opportunity to say thank you and visit some of our wounded warriors at Walter Reed. And then last night, we learned the news of this attack in Benghazi.

As Americans, let us never, ever forget that our freedom is only sustained because there are people who are willing to fight for it, to stand up for it, and in some cases, lay down their lives for it.

Our country is only as strong as the character of our people and the service of those both civilian and military who represent us around the globe. No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.

Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act."

Transcript Viewer - C-SPAN Video Library
CANDY CROWLEY:
And I think actually, you know because, right after that I did turn around and say, but you’re totally correct that they spent two weeks telling us this was about a tape and that that there was a, you know, this riot outside the Benghazi consulate which there wasn’t.

So he was right in the main, I just think he picked the wrong word. And I, you know, they’re going to parse and we all know about what the definition of is is, but, I, uh, you know, in the end, I think John [King]’s probably right. I think this has a lot more to with jobs and the debt crisis and all of that kind of stuff.

I just think that probably it was one of those moments and I could even feel that here, you know, when you say something you’re not expecting. It’s just that was the natural thing coming out of me going, ‘Actually he did, you know, call it an act of terror.’ Uh, when, you know, half the crowd clapped for that and the other half clapped for ‘But they kept telling us this was a tape, this was caused by a tape’ so, you know, in the main, the thrust of what Governor Romney was saying, which is why I went back and said that, um, but I just think he picked the wrong kind of way to go about talking about it if that makes sense.

So Candy thinks Romney was correct, but he chose the wrong word?

It's pretty clear that she interjected herself in order to save her pres[]ent. Watching the reaction from the so called "undecided" audience with their cheers and applause from Candy's interjection gives us all a clue as to exactly how undecided they really were.

Well, Candy made sure she was part of this debate for sure.

Too bad Candy wasn't around to tell all the other "journalists" at CNN that the whitehouse and Oh-Blah-blah had stated from the begining that these were terrorist attacks way back on September 12th before his jet to Vegas.

"The White House, for the first time Thursday, declared the attack that killed Stevens and three other people a terrorist attack."

Must say something good for Candy...

I have watched her on the TeeVee for years and this is by far the best she has ever looked. :D
"HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Another debate, another debacle for America’s media.

In the runup to the second presidential debate, CNN’s Candy Crowley declared that she would not just be a “fly on the wall” as she played the tiny role of moderator, that she would step in whenever she chose to say, “Hey, wait a second, what about X, Y, Z?”

And boy did she, cutting off Republican Mitt Romney repeatedly and often throwing the floor to President Obama with an open “let me give the president a chance here.”

More, she alone decided the topics for the debate, picking questions from the 80 so-called “undecided” voters chosen by the Gallup polling organization. Her selections were tailor-made for Mr. Obama — Mitt Romney’s tax plan, women’s rights and contraception, outsourcing, immigration, the Libya debacle (which gave Mr. Obama to finally say that the buck stops with him, not, as Hillary Clinton said, with her).

Candy interrupted Romney 28 times...Obama 9 times. What a surprise.

"But the most telling Crowley moment of all came when she ordered, "Gov. Romney, sit down."

Crowley's rather rude directive was never used against Obama, although he stood up and interrupted as much if not more than Romney."

This morning as I switched channels to see what the various talking heads were saying....Scarborough on Morning Joe, MSNBC, said Romney was rude in that he interrupted Crowley and the President. "He shouldn't do that to a female commentator."

Hey...all's fair in this equal opportunity for women...isn't it? And...from my recollection it was Obama interrupting her more than Romney.

When Romney did step on her toes he was trying to set straight the lies just uttered by Obama...and she did a good job of saying, "you'll have time to address that later." But...that time never arrived. Romney was justified in what he did to her and President Obama.

Concerning the interruption of Obama...it was to force him to answer what he was trying his best to avoid...truth!

Correct ... time never did arrive. As usual, Obama got considerably more time to speak than Romney. It was amost 44 minutes for Obama and under 41 minutes for Romney.

Romney made better use of his time than Obama though. Truth is funny that way.

3 minutes means considerable? The way I see it Rmoney had 3 less minutes of lies.

I was told the women want let out of the binder!
