A discovery by a Harvard researcher may shed light on a controversial aspect of the life of Jesus Christ.
Harvard Divinity School professor Karen L. King says she has found an ancient papyrus fragment from the fourth century that, when translated, appears to indicate that Jesus was married.

Won't this be a treat. Now we all get to hear about how Christianity is false until this entire thing blows over.

They have been saying that for many years. Christ was not married, they distorted His words.

I think he probably was married and I base this on the fact that Rabbis are married.
Jesus was called Rabbi. This is my opinion. I don't see anything wrong with him being married. Think about this, when Adam and Eve were placed on the earth they were told to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. Jesus came in the body of a man, he is a man, thats how he understands us so well.

I agree. Based on the gospels of Thomas and Mary do not help its case, and it is not old enough. As the article says, many older and more reliable sources do not agree. Also, not enough parchment to really get a feel for the context of what is written.

The problem that happens when the media gets involved in things of this nature is that it ends up becoming overly sensationalized.

"What does this mean for Christianity?!?!?!" Well nothing. Actually. Curious pieces of parchment hundreds of years after Jesus are a dime a dozen.

Whether Jesus was married or not? In and of itself, it doesn't. It has no bearing on the historic Christian faith and our confession concerning the Lord Jesus.

On the other hand, there's simply no reason to imagine that He was married.

I am not trying to high-jack, my subject is yours to an extent talking about the same link.

Please be open minded and not easily offended. I find that to believe in Christ is to also believe in the truth, even if it rubs shoulders against a deeply believed & rooted theology. Why were thousands of books and scrolls destroyed by the forming Catholic Church at the beginning? I bet you that this fragment came from such a book.

There has been the Antichrists here on Earth since the days of the Disciples of Jesus:

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (1 John 4:3)

Read my blog if you will. I don't blame you if you don't, but I believe that Jesus Christ is not distracted from being true by being more like us (truly in the flesh as married). Sex is holy in a pure holy marriage. Babies certainly are not coming as unholy to a holy marriage either. When we see Jesus like this we see ourselves in him and his pathway is very believable in reaching our Father and His Kingdom.

Destroy imperfect theology, but Christianity?, no. Christianity is based on truth. I haven't any problem with the truth of truth, do you or would you?

About the bolded portion? Maybe those were all burned because they contained references to giant purple dragons? OR a better question would be: "if all those documents were destroyed why do we have so many of them left?" Been here:

As has been said, this has been alleged for centuries. Exactly why a scrap of New-Testament fan fiction is treated as worth anyone's time, much less a threat to the religion, by anybody is still beyond me.

Nor was it written in ancient Hewbrew or Greek but in coptic Egyptian. I say NEXT! More gnostic mumbo jumbo.

Never ceases to amaze me how someone finds a single document hundreds of years after the event and believes it to be true but disbelieves the Bible which is well documented and written within 20-50 years of the events (and while the eye witnesses were still around).

Shows how desperate some people are to discredit the truth rather than submit to it.
