Wal-Mart vs. The Morons (NOT A JOKE)

This is spot-on.
PLEASE, READ THIS TO THE END. IT IS VERY INTERESTING!!!
Wal-Mart vs. The Morons

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of
every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's
Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears
+ Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest
private employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway
combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought
bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the
world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906
are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will
occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately
6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the
ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys
who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans… Democrats,
Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature

It is now official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:

a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have
had 237 years to get it right and it is broke.

b... Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 77
years to get it right and it is broke.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 74 years
to get it right and it is broke.

d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 48 years to
get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each
year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have
had 47 years to get it right and they are broke.

f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 42 years
to get it right and it is broke.

g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our
dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees
with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than
ever before. You had 35 years to get it right and it is an
abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved
down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED
WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe
it will end up in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected'
(they never read anything) and their staff will clue them in
on how Americans feel.
AND
I know what's wrong. We have lost our minds to "Political
Correctness" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the
people that run this country!!!!!!
We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans,
Homeless etc.,???????????
In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile ,
Japan and Turkey..And now Pakistan ........previous home of
bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid
nor do they get any breaks…

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter,
children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed'
meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they
give to other countries. Sad isn't it?

Wal-Mart did all of that by paying people peanuts, forcing people to work off the clock, discriminating against women, illegal union busting, and exercising such ruthless cost-cutting and strong-arming tactics that their suppliers were forced to send manufacturing jobs overseas and put Americans out of work. Their operations in Mexico were built on bribery and corruption. The net effect of WM on its communities has been to suppress wages and kill jobs.

It is a fallacy promoted by the right that government ought to be run like a business. It should not - in fact, it's closer in purpose to a non-profit. The goal of a business is to make profit; the goal of government is to provide services. You don't provide services by forcing jobs overseas or paying your employees as little as possible and funneling all of your profits to the top.

You quoted it, but I guess you missed the bit about forcing employees to work off the clock, discrimination against women, and driving American jobs overseas.

A retail store is a little different than a government. While there are similarities in terms of how to streamline costs and organize resources, I can see where some of those skills could carry over...I would definitely prefer a person with solid business experience running our country over a person with no business experience.

...but, retail stores have a luxury that the US government currently does not, they can set fixed prices on the goods and services they provide which allows for easier budgeting, the government can't.

For example, wal-mart sells frozen pizza's for $5. If you don't pay the $5, you don't get the pizza...end of story. (Stealing exlcuded)

Under the current US government model, they'd have to charge each person a different amount for that pizza based on their individual economic situation.

A CEO would get charged $150 for the pizza
A McDonalds employee would get charged $0.75
For a person who didn't want to work, they'd have to give them the pizza for free

Also, this is just flat-out incorrect:

g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 35 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

No, we don't import more oil than ever before. Our total amount of crude oil imports is about where it was in 1999 (Source), and as a percentage of how much we use, our imports are hitting a 20 year low (Source).

This is a GOP utopian society right here - no wonder they would rather WalMart run the country.

Screw the sick, poor, and less fortunate!! Profits and becoming rich are all that matter. Jesus even said so Himself.

Interesting comparison of Walmart and the gov't. Perhaps the point of the post is that so many are beyond weary of the gov't and its failings. The question becomes which is bankrupt, and which is thriving?

Walmart should not be out-shining our gov't but it is.

Can you tell us Walmart's foreign policy?

Do you realize the Walmart is simply a corporation being run by people. What you really want is the Walmart executives to run the government.

If those executives are so good why don't you and others who believe America should be run by Walmart recruit these executives to run for public office?

Actually that might be a good idea. Could we do any worse than what we have now?

and about Walmart's foreign policy? It probably would not start wars.

Why, yes we can. Voting in Rmoney would be one example, voting in Walmart executives would be another.

Pretty simplistic and naive foreign policy, wouldn't you say?

It doesn't matter. That point isn't as relevant as you seem to think it is. From a purely technical POV, I respect some things about WM and their ability to mine data and squeeze every drop of efficiency out of their chain. That takes brains. But employing it in the manner they have takes a fair amount of ruthlessness and disregard for people. Their numbers wouldn't be nearly so rosy if they'd stayed within the law and tried to take care of their employees and their suppliers. Overall, WM got to its position by hurting people.
