I speak often about how hard it is to have faith in a society that teaches that there is none. Below is a perfect example. Why, I ask, is it wrong for me as a Christian to tell you that I respectfully disagree with your sinful attitude, but it is perfectly fine to attach something like this to a telephone pole, and then it just SITS THERE?
Why is it okay for atheists to publicly mock Christianity, but it is not okay for Christians to say, with respect, that drugs are wrong, homosexuality is a sin, and little girls shouldn't have sex? Why?

You're allowed to say those things. Just like I'm allowed to disagree with you.

Why shouldn't I be able to say what I think about Christianity? Do you propose banning speech that is critical of Christianity?

Perhaps you'd be happier living in a theocracy?

No. I propose banning hateful speech altogether. You can disagree with my views, that is your prerogative. But I do not belong to a cult, and aside being inaccurate, it is a derogatory statement. I understand there are Christians who have been hateful in their sentiments, but I am not one of them, and I do not know of anyone who is, or I would have explained to them about love and God's command for us to teach with love, and if they didn't listen, I would have left them alone.

That does not apply to MY Christianity. None of those things you said apply to me. Not ALL Christians act this way, just as not all atheists mock Christians. The problem with this world is that the most evil people in it, both supposed Christians and non-Christians, are also the most outspoken. I have told atheists who talk about how judgmental Christians are to give them Bible verses that speak AGAINST being judgmental.
I agree with everything you said, except "you" because those things do not apply to true faith in God.
God is good, so good He allows us to do what makes us feel good even if He doesn't like it. We as Christians fall short of His goodness every day, and it is just as heartbreaking as what I posted when Christians act like high and mighty saints!
I deserve nothing better than you, my friend, nothing at all. I am no better a person because I became a Christian, and the only triumph in ANY Christian's faith is when they truly repent and realize their low status and how much Grace God has to even be willing to let them LIVE, let alone save them.
This world has become so ugly that even most Christians do not know what the "right" thing to do is anymore.
But not ALL Christians are that way. Any Christian who has TRULY experienced God understands that salvation means grace, it means humility, it means living and letting others live as they please.
I pray that one day you find the faith that I have, because there is much joy in it. But I was once just like you, angry at God, and angry at all the self-righteous idiots who professed that they were better than me because of "their God." It took me a long time to come to faith because of those types of people and their untrue faith. I understand how you feel, because I WAS you. I don't blame you for feeling like Christians are a bunch of mocking, slandering bullies who try to force their faith on you.

But none of these reasons give anyone the right to mock another's faith or lack thereof. I have understandable reasons why I believe, and you have understandable reasons why you do not. I pray your heart changes, and the light shines through so that you can one day understand what God REALLY wants from us, but I mock not. There is no love in mocking.

Nobody is stopping you from voicing your disagreements or letting other people know what you consider to be sinful.

And while I don't know the story behind that pole, my best guess is that the reason it sits there is because nobody cared enough to take it down? You would probably get the same result if you posted up a similar picture that says 'Homosexuality is a sin'

Why is it okay for atheists to publicly mock Christianity, but it is not okay for Christians to say, with respect, that drugs are wrong, homosexuality is a sin, and little girls shouldn't have sex?
In the united states, Christians have the right to oppose homosexuality, inter-racial marriage, or any other issues they would like, much like how atheists are allowed to mock the Christians that do.

Because both of our rights to free speech are protected by both the constitution and the current legal codes of the united states.

the solution isn't in the state, but in a re-energized civil society. Cohorts of pious men under arms enforcing moral norms. Like Hezbollah.

...really? You want a militant Christian moral police enforcing dogma? That's not America, that's a third-world dictatorship.

My issue wasn't the fact that it was placed, but the message it carried. It was derogatory, and also inaccurate. It was personal to me because it was directed at my lifestyle. And what really bothered me was that it SAT there ALL day, and I was the first Christian to go "Hey, that's awful, that should be taken down" and actually DO something about it! You are missing a key point, and that is what really bothered me was that everyone else just left it. The other CHRISTIANS, you know, those self-righteous fools, LEFT IT! Hey, it only took one person to put it up there, so what right? But it took a whole LOT of believers to see it and just go on by.
You can take it personal if you want, but the real problem with this was the lackadaisacal attitude of Christians who should have done something before me.

Perhaps you might now know why gay people get offended when you claim their life is an abomination.

I don't see this sign as mocking. Inaccurate? Most likely. But not mocking. This person probably truly does believe that faith is a cult. In fact, many cults USE faith as a tool to keep its members in line. But the poster is wrong that all faiths are a cult. But the poster doesn't mock. It's not making fun of anyone. It's just trying to convey a message.

Thats the entire world up to about 1960ish. Localities use to have much less of your vaunted tolerance.

Ah yes, tolerance, the bane of the civilized man. I sure miss the good ol' days of thought police and witch hunts!

You must try harder to troll, friend.

Yes you are right. It wasn't mocking, I meant that in reference to the way people act.
