After teaching English in Quito, Ecuador for over a year I returned home to Nova Scotia determined to become more socially and politically active.

I have the feeling that there must be something constructive and specific that socially and politically active Christians and Muslims aught to be able to be able to do at this time that can improve as well as even save some lives over the coming weeks, months and years?????!!!!

Am I squeezing far too much meaning out of this statement by King Solomon to believe that indeed, money can indeed be used to answer virtually any problem or question or issue on this earth??????

Am I also taking this statement recorded by Moshe/Moses too seriously that yes, human productive capability during a time of a common language is essentially beyond limit?????

I need advice from a moderator at this forum to find out if it is possible to use ChristianForums to attempt to get together a specific organization that does something big....to address the issue of Christians who are fleeing Islamic Nations as the "Arab Spring" expands?

I live in the Canadian federal riding held by our Minister of Defence, Peter Mackay!

I was watching CPAC last winter as part of the Halifax International Security Forum was covered.

I heard Mr. Mackay state publicly that he would personally love to be able to do far more to assist the Arab Spring movement to be peaceful, and orderly, even in nations such as Syria, but he admitted that the situation in Syria was astonishingly complex and quite different from what had occurred in Libya!

I think you missed the point of the story....

Actually, I do notice that side to the story, which yes, is the primary point, but the Word of God is a sword with how many sides?

Two sides!

The Word of God is not a one sided sword....it has at the minimum two sides! What would be sharper than a two edged sword....a three or four edged sword!!!!!

Yes, the primary meaning in this verse is negative and we humans are so astonishingly destructive that yes, at that time God was forced to confound our languages because we would have developed nuclear weapons 4000 years ago if He had not scattered us in many directions.

The positive side to this scripture, is in many ways less relevant yes, but it is not entirely irrelevant! Human productivity is astonishingly great if we have a unified language and will discuss specific proposals even for astonishingly complex questions openly and honestly with people from various backgrounds!

LoAmmi......I am a rather egotistical, pedantic, cranky, red neck from the back woods of Nova Scotia who thinks of himself as one of the best people in the world at written debate in forums such as this one!

One hidden level of meaning in this verse is that it is virtually impossible for a Christian to understand Jewish jargon!

Here is an article by Rabbi Jacob Immanuel Schochet that I personally think is brilliant and accurate and astonishingly insightful.....I think that his article should to any Christian almost immediately remind us of the baptism of the one who we regard as our Moshiach/Messiah....when his first cousin John/Yohannan ben Zechariah baptized him!!!!!!

But generally, this article is profoundly offensive to most Christians and I personally cannot quite understand why because it seems to me that the differences between the Christian thought process and the Orthodox or Chassidic thought process.....is far too dependent on technical jargon/language???????!!!!!!

We are actually some of the dumbest, poorest and most ignorant people that you will ever meet but from the time that we begin to read and study the words of a certain Jewish Rabbi our lives tend to go up and up and up and up and up!!!!!

I heard about a Christian meeting in which the person speaking asked how many people had grandparents who had been called and had given their lives over to G-d???? I believe he/she asked them to stand?!?! A few well dressed obviously prosperous members of the congregation stood to their feet.

Again they asked who had parents who had given their lives to G-d? A higher number of reasonably well dressed people stood to their feet.

Again the speaker asked who in the room was the first member of their families to be called into a relationship with G-d???? The people who stood were obviously less wealthy, obviously less educated.....obviously less successful than either of the two other groups.....they may have been one or two exceptions to that general rule but not too many?!?!

The mission of messiah in the article? To bring Jews to keeping Torah for one. Not to die for the sins of the world. That is never in a Jewish article about messiah. We don't believe that is a task for the messiah at all. That is offensive to Christians.

People benefit from studying the teachings of most religions. I find very little unique in Jesus' teachings. Much of it is reflected in my own religion. However, people find meaning in the New Testament and that's great.

They're killing people of every religion in Syria. Lots of Muslim friends' families have fled, and several of my friends have family members that were killed over the past couple months. It's not about being Muslim or Christian or anything else in Syria. What's happening there is just sick.

So true.....but surely since I am a Christian living in a somewhat "Christian nation".....who has already ran for public office as an independent three times....you can understand why I feel a special responsibility to at least try to give my Member of Parliament, Mr. Peter Mackay, something specific that he might just be able to work with??????


At this moment I generally speaking like the idea of getting set up to run again for the office of Municipal Councillor because the next election will be held October 20, 2012 and I would need to have my nomination papers in order before September 11!

In my three campaigns I got a total of 31 votes so in a sense I could call myself "Canada's Worst Politician?!"

If possible, I like the idea of running in the area of Port Bickerton, Guysborough County, partly because I have some friends there, and frankly I am so addicted to writing in these discussion boards that I actually don't have all that many close friends!!!!

I used nuclear weapons as only one example of many possible choices...but it is one that the majority of people who participate on this discussion forum could understand and relate to!

I could just as easily have used the idea of airplanes and flying to the moon... or the mass production of widgets and atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions....but since nuclear weapons can at this time be used to destroy all life on earth....and because we still marvel at the technology that King Solomon must have had to get some of the heaviest foundation stones into the Jerusalem Temple then it seems obvious that if G-d had not confounded the languages a knowledge explosion would have occurred after the building of the city of Babel.....which could have led to many of the problems of 2012 being faced thousands of years ago....so it seems rather obvious that the languages were confused and the grandchildren of Noah divided over the face of the earth in order to prevent many of the difficulties that we now face from occurring a long time ago!

This is very helpful and I will try to contact them to see if they might just be interested in helping out with a proposed series of documentary, reality and semi-reality films centred around my attempting to convince Sir Richard Branson to invest somewhere around ten million dollars in printing up $28 billion, George Malloy Dollars!

George Malloy is my mothers father who raised me because my dad, Robert Tate was kind of a mess! For two years now I have been praying and thinking and scratching my head trying to figure out why in the world people who speak Hebrew would bother with a minuscule place in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, Canada that the vast majority of people are leaving at this time because frankly, our economy is TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

Combat Climate Change by Turning Deserts Green!: Anti-Armageddon Paradigm Shift Monetary Policy Theory The Introduction.

It is my firm belief that the number one technological device to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases has already been invented. It is the tree.

What is desperately needed at this time is not necessarily a new mechanical device but instead a paradigm shift in economic theory regarding monetary policy. We require a readily understandable explanation on how leaders in business and government can direct not only millions, but actually trillions of dollars of investment into combating global warming.

One of the most effective practical methods that could be put into place in the least amount of time would be dozens of the largest possible desalinization plants all along the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Huge quantities of fresh water could be dripped onto the Sinai and Sahara deserts and voila, well chosen species of newly planted fast growing trees could soon change the color of these relatively desolate areas, significantly reduce atmospheric CO2, positively affect local weather patterns and at the same time significantly counterbalance the increases in worldwide ocean levels as the polar ice caps melt. This will buy us some extra time and thus expand the “very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change.”

So who is going to finance the construction of all these massive installations not to mention the planting of all those seedling trees?

I believe that it is possible for you to do this yourself Mr. Branson. You have already created a Virgin currency unit/coupon which has astonishing long term potential. My wife Maria Jose just returned from a two week trip to the British VIRGIN Islands. It is theoretically possible to link your Virgin coupon with the national currency of a small nation and you could soon be playing around in macro-economics. Considering the volume of business being done through your Virgin Group I would submit that you already are.

They're killing people of every religion in Syria. Lots of Muslim friends' families have fled, and several of my friends have family members that were killed over the past couple months. It's not about being Muslim or Christian or anything else in Syria. What's happening there is just sick.

Sounds like the OP's concern and desire to help could take 2 forms: go Rambo, or donate a jeep (or other personnel carrier to get outta there)
