It would really be a challenge if you weren't allowed to pick neutrals and had to have one lime green item. With neutrals it's basically easy to do- matching wise.

It's like you're in my head. I have a green and black shirt that is sooo comfy and I really want to put it in the mix. Not sure yet.

I think I could do this easily enough. Black skirt, two pairs of black trousers, three tops. Vary by using different scarves.

Mix and match. Job done. That is pretty much what I do anyway; more than six items, but along the same lines.

:)

Nice, after trying to pick my six it became a bit of a wardrobe reality check.

As far as neutrals I just realized I only own one grey camisole, one pair of black pants, one pair of grey pants, one pair of tan. Everything else is obscenely bright colors or prints.

How do I not own a plain white shirt? ^_^

Edit: Oh and of course my black dress for dressy occasions.

I think the trick is to keep to plain colours for the main clothes, and use prints or patterns only in accessories. That saves a LOT on clothes.

And I would cheat and regard camisoles as underwear, which they are for me as I never wear them without something on top, and have 6 additional items.

How do I not own a plain white shirt? ^_^

Dresses are great, but in 6 items I would stick to separates; far more flexible. Make one a black top, put it with the black skirt add a glitzy belt or scarf, and you have a lbd.

One black skirt, two pairs black trousers, plain black top, plain white top, one coloured top; any colour. Ten shawls/scarves from simple to very formal; not sure of the maths on this, but easily enough variation for a month. No problem.

:)

I could happily wear a black tshirt (or tank top in summer) and jeans/jean shorts for the rest of my life, and nothing else. Maybe a colored tshirt thrown in now and then. I have absolutely zero interest in fashion, I love basic and comfy.

I should apply this to my wardrobe.

I'm pretty basic but I don't know if I'm that basic. I also don't think I could get away with that in the office. ^_^

If I could do the 6 Items for one month I think the next thing I'd try is the 333 challenge.

33 Items including accessories for 3 months.

"What: 33 items including clothing, accessories, jewelry, outerwear and shoes.
What not: these items are not counted as part of the 33 items – wedding ring, underwear, sleep, in-home lounge wear, and workout clothing (you can only wear your workout clothing to workout)
How: over the next two months, outline your 33 items, by the 1st of October, box up the remainder of your fashion statement, seal it with tape and put it out of sight.
What else: consider that you are creating a wardrobe that you can live, work and play in for three months. If you purchase items for project 333, stick with the one in, two out approach. Consider the essentials and stick to 33." - From Minimalist Fashion Project 333 Begins | Be More with Less

I buy plain long sleeve v neck tshirts, and wear lace edged camisoles underneath, so they show through the v. Pretty enough, and no danger of inadvertantly giving glimpses you prefer not to show. Then a wrap on top to dress it up for lunch or dinner. Or church, of course.

The good thing about wearing black is that when people get used to seeing you in it, they don't notice if you have one pair of black trousers or ten. I think I probably have about seven, because that way I never have to stress about what to wear.

I used to wear jeans, but I stopped doing that when I started going to Mass every day. There isn't a dress code, but I decided they were not quite smart enough.

I think my wardrobe is about 33 items already. :)

Indeed, I'm lucky to work in a casual setting! Wearing black capris and a "paint splash" tshirt with sandals today :) Huzzah!

I do this by accident. Haha. I don't own many clothes.

Same here, lol. I might think something looks beautiful on someone else, but when it comes to actually wearing stuff, I just wanna be comfortable and not even think about what I'm wearing. I have a set of denim capris, a set of black cotton capris, and assorted tshirts (all same brand & style, just different colors) and that's my wardrobe for work and home :)

That does make it so much easier, though I do realize that with the right basics I can really cut back my wardrobe if I try.
