(in relation to the analogy) go to college, dedicate your time, money, and energy into something without any guarantee of outcome.
You assume that somehow, by paying a tax and taking a class or two, it will magically transform someone into a good parent, or at least up the odds.

This line of thinking is obviously coming from someone who does not have kids.

Also Who's going to administer & develop the "Written Test" and do you want them being in charge of your reproduction?

And as asked in an earlier post by another user, but never answered, what Physical Test?

Nope, I just think it would be a deterrent for those who have ulterior motives for becoming a parent. That is all.

Do I have to have kids in order to understand why I would want to have them?

The state; and they're not "in charge" of my reproducing any more than the DMV is in charge of me driving a car.

Physical test would ensure that both parents are able to physically support the care for a child. I'm not talking about if both parents are in a wheelchair they are disqualified. I am saying that both parents aren't def, blind, and mute. If both parents are 600 lbs and bed ridden how could they possibly care for a baby?

Psychological history would be apparent as well, as you don't want an unresponsive paranoid schizophrenic raising a child.

These are things that CPS is already screening for passively. The gf has a cousin who is blind and her husband is also blind. They just had a baby and CPS evaluated their ability to care for a child. It was deemed satisfactory and I concur.

Ah so Who can do it, where they can do it, when they can do it, how they can do it. And you're ok with that?

Oh I know a few Deaf parents that are raising health normal children.
I also know a few blind parents (both) that are raising normal health children.

If both parents are 600 lbs and bed ridden how could they possibly care for a baby?
So what's the maximum allowable weight (remember this is the Government, it's all got to be spelled out) ?

Psychological history would be apparent as well, as you don't want an unresponsive paranoid schizophrenic raising a child.
Any other conditions we should disallow, will the government be allowed to modify this list in the future when they think of other things that are for the Child's best interest?

They can do "it" 5 ways from Sunday...doesn't matter, sex isn't the topic here as much as giving birth is...or the act of. The idea is that in order to birth a child, you need a permit...if you get pregnant, you've still got 9 months to get one. :)

Do you know any that are def, blind, and mute?

If a 600 lb person can be active enough to care for a child...not problem...that's why it's called a test ;)

Any conditions in which it's probable that life threatening harm would befall the child.

See case examples: Child Protective Services: A Guide for Caseworkers: Chapter Five: Intake

Prevent? None. Deter? Several:

I knew a woman who was poverty stricken, so in order to get more money from the government, she had a 3rd child even though she was not caring for the two she had. I'm sure there's a term for it...but I just called it being a deadbeat mom.

"I need to save my marriage/relationship, and having a child will fix that."

"I want to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] my parents off."

Why is it a terrible idea though? Thought about it today and it was like a light bulb came on in my head ^_^

The government is going to charge me to have children? They have no right. They are going to make me go through a class to train me THEIR way of parenting? They have no right. If I wanted to have my life invaded to this degree I would move to China, Iran or North Korea. The United States has already gone far enough with invading our lives and this would just be more invasion by ungodly leadership.

Just an idea, by why not leave the blessings of children to God. He knows who they're going to, their situations, when to leave them, when to take them.... Who is ANYONE to tell Him how to distribute His blessings?

It's like this, God healed me from infertility issues and gave me a set of beautiful twin boys. That was HIS decision.

Money can not buy God's blessings...

And by vast majority you mean your white, middle class friends?

How about this: Deter unplanned parenthood. There's the biggie for me anyway.

All three of my biological children were unplanned. Should I get rid of them?

Better question, should you have had them? Are you a fit parent? Is your wife? Have you put your child into a washer or dryer and turned it on?
Do you realize you are parroting the writings of Margaret Sanger, who founded Planned Parenthood? Only difference, she favored killing the child after his/her birth if it was "obvious" the child would suffer under the child-rearing skills of the parents. And by the way, what guarantees do you have that you and "the gf" will be good parents? With this attitude of yours, I might favor forbidding you to have kids.

You're avoiding the question. Based upon your standards, what should we do with our kids?

Nothing...I don't even see how the question is applicable to the OP...unless your wife is currently pregnant of course.

God willing...because we care and understand that loving parents don't put their children in washing machines.

The gf works in a a school where there are a lot of bad parents (abusive, uncaring, neglectful)...then I saw this video on youtube of a dad "teasing" a toddler by putting her in a laundry mat washing machine and turning it on with the mother standing by.

Christ said that where your heart is there also will be your treasure. If people didn't care enough about children to do things listed above, then they shouldn't be allowed to have them to begin with, for this demonstrates that they would be unfit at raising children to begin with.

I don't claim any political affiliation. Just think it'd be a good idea to weed out those who are having children to satisfy ulterior motives.

it's playing God. I think Hilter tried it one time already. why not just give all unwed girls chastity belts, stop it before it happens, or why pick on the girls. design some belt for the guys. then you could give them a marriage test to pass before you take off their chastity belts, that is only after the wedding of course, you are looking at the wrong source dude, you are saying it is education or lack there of, that is causing the problems. But it is evilness that is the problem. are you saying that all the people on the videos you watch were unlearned poor people and you and the educated would never be capable of doing that kind of evil act to a Child. a know a prompt educated business man in this area, that kept His daughter locked in a closet most of her life, he would probably been able to pass your parenting classes and the test, really bad idea!
