The reason Amendment One to the North Carolina Constitution passed overwhelmingly on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 is because people know the truth. That is what led North Carolinians to affirm that "marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State." Any news source that led their report on the overwhelming victory for marriage in North Carolina with headlines such as "Gay Marriage defeated" or "Marriage Equality Dealt a Setback" is promoting the propaganda of the Homosexual Equivalency movement.

I congratulate the state of North Carolina for holding this initiative in a separate election rather than putting it on the November ballot in order to influence the Presidential election.

I hope that other states considering ballot referendums on any issues--liberal or conservative-- will be encouraged to do the same.

This from the state that specifically allows the bullying of kids because they're perceived as being gay by their peers and said peers have a "moral" objection.

No it doesn't. You should have read the article. All it does is acknowledge the truth and Natural Law--marriage is between one man and one woman for the possibility of children, our future citizens, and the sole reason that the state has any concern in the marriage debate. North Carolina *already* has a law forbidding same-sex marriages. This is a North Carolina Constitutional Amendment that forbids the redefinition of what marriage is and the definition that the state protects.

Fear tactics have no place in this. They simply aren't true.

How do you consider putting the intitiative on the same ballot as other proposed laws that the people must vote on (thereby saving the state money for an additional election) "influencing the Presidential election". Seems to me that this *does* influence the Presidential election, even though this was months in advance of the Presidential election.

Oh please don't feign ignorance of Republican strategery.

Hold on. They already had this as a law and voted on it again?

No, theres 's no hatred of gays in the deep South.

Here's a realistic worst case scenario...and it would probably play out this way on places like the deep South and Arizona:

Stand-your-ground laws used to defend murdering gays (the murderer got a-scared thinking that the homasexial was going to infect him with the gayness). Christians respond by saying, "their blood is in their own heads.". The Church, as usual, stands silent (she tends to, in practice, disregard CCC 2358 while emphasizing the harshest lines from 2357 & 2359).

BTW, I'm speaking to a culture of hate. Hate cares not for Natural law except as a means to an end.

To clarify, I'm taking a very long view on this through history. Since Bacon's Rebellion, the powers that be in the deep South have always used the old divide and conquer strategy to keep the peasants fighting amongst themselves.

For the past three centuries, it was the black people, then Jews and Catholics and the latest in that mix of hate, the homasexials.

It's about divide, conquer and rule.

By simply making sure that the definition of marriage (impossibly old) is not redefined, is not showing hate to same-sex people. It's simply recognizing reality. Marriage is between one man and one woman and is open to children. Marriage is the foundation of the family. The family are the first teachers, responsible for future taxpaying citizens. And *that* is the only reason the government has any business "sticking it's nose" in marriage.

This was simply North Carolina making certain that legislatures cannot try to change reality (by redefining the word "marriage") It doesn't effect a person who has the homosexual orientation. (It's not making him illegal in the state or telling him that he is a second class citizen, or forcing him to go into one of the programs that help the person.) If two people of the same sex want to "get it on" with each other, they will and do (it seems that there are some that actually *have*--and have no problem, it's not like we have the morals of years ago.) It's just not marriage in any sense of the word.

It also forbids civil union or any rights thereto.

This is about keeping homos in their "place."

Read the article Michie linked to. For your convenience it's:

Marriage Wins! Overwhelming Victory for the Truth in North Carolina Vote - U.s. - Catholic Online

Don't forget to read the second page where it states that they already have a law. They were just making certain that there could not be a *redefinition* like there already has been imposed in a few states. (Yes, *imposed*, because when people have a chance to vote themselves--and not just the legislators trying to get elected or listening to lobbyists--they vote with Natural Law to keep the definition.) It's not about made up "rights". Never was. Never will be. It's simply about reality.

No, it's about sticking it to an "out" group. Typical fare for the deep South. I'm sure a law that does make it a capital offense to be gay would poll very well in any of the formerly Confederate or would-be Confederate states, especially if the executions are public and gruesome.

That this law passed is akin to dogs barking, the sun fusing hydrogen into helium and the speed of light remaining constant.

Since you seem to refuse to read the article or have missed this, perhaps a quote from the article (already noted) is needed:

Tuesday, May 8, 2012, the people of North Carolina spoke clearly. They defended Marriage. Rachel Lee, a spokeswoman for "Vote for Marriage NC" was correct in her assessment: "This amendment is very simple and straightforward -- it preserves marriage between one man and one woman in our state constitution. It will in no way impact on domestic violence protections, child custody or end of life desires. So these claims brought on by the other side are simply false - and they're really meant to distract and confuse voters away from the real issue at hand."

Again, the state already had a law, this is just a NC Constitiutional Amendment to prevent the redefinition of marriage. The state now joins the 30 who already have the protection.

It in no way effects what is true.

Or it's about, you know, people standing up for what they believe in.

Oh, I don't doubt that people believe what they believe. It's illogical to claim otherwise.

Part of the cultural zeitgeist in the deep South is that certain people have their place. Homasexials are getting all uppity, so they gotta be put in their place.

Catholic morality is NOT part of the equation here. This is the SOUTH. Catholicism is one of the out groups there too.
