This is a new low, even for The Huffington Post. In some sense there isn’t anything shocking about what Larry Doyle writes. It’s the same old, tired lies we hear about the Church all the time from vicious anti-catholics. What’s different is the double-standard the Huffington Post applies: a standard which allows their writers to publish literally anything offens...

You have to remember that Huffington Post is a Liberal publication. Very pro-gay and very anti-religion. I post there regularly and have first-hand experience of Huffpo's editorial policies. I should stress that there's nothing wrong with Huffpo being pro-gay and anti-religion if that's what the readership wants. But I do have to wonder why they bother with a Religion Section at all.

I'm getting sick and tired of this "he used to be a Nazi" kaka they like to fling around.

How about scrutinizing those who used to be affiliated with the Communist Party in Eastern Europe, the NKVD, the UB, the bastards that continued to persecute innocent individuals by sending them to the gulags, murdering them, stealing from them, etc.?

Why do those Reds get a pass? Because their ideology wasn't tied down to a God or higher power somehow lessens the brutality?

Buffoonery!

EDIT: And let's not forget what these liberals - the hypocrites - actually advocate.

Only Catholics and may be some Catholic lites.

But regardless, then what's the problem? It was a satire and by your own admittance, accurate.

well it is the HP, so yes, it is expected.

and actually very few Christians outright reject the Real Presence, Orthodox, Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans, etc. all believe in the Real Presence to one extent or another. And even Calvinists have a belief in a Spiritual Presence. It is only those who subscribe to Zwingli's theology that see the Eucharist as completely symbolic.

I think you should read more non-Catholic books there my friend. Most Christians do not believe the bread "turns in to flesh" and the grape juice "turns in to blood" I understand that Catholic lites do too.

Peace.

Santorum has also remained silent on his religious organization's various reigns of terror, in which good protestants and others were tortured and killed in imaginatively grisly ways. Even more chilling is a possible connection between the Roman Catholic Church pedophile program and NAMBLA, which I discovered after conducting some research on the internet.

Ordinarily I would be loathe to discuss all this, feeling that issues of faith and religion should be kept out of politics. But it's far too late for that, and I have an obligation to expose this phony theology that threatens to supplant Christianity as our official national religion.

His satire reads more like he's a man on a mission.

It's Sacramental wine.

well considering the fragmentation of Protestantism, perhaps most sects don't, but most Christians, by the numbers do, Orthodox, Catholics, Anglicans, and Lutherans alone constitute the OVERWHELMING majority of Christianity, and all of them believe in the Real Presence.

BTW, grape juice? I thought only the Baptists used Welch's juice??

I never said it was good, but it is accurate.

Yes, the blessed Eucharist is barbaric and the Catholic Church is nothing more than an extension of NAMBLA./s

As a former member of same sect (an Irish-Catholic, the worst kind), I have read the texts, participated in the rites, and even seen behind the curtain, as it were, as a one-time altar boy, so help me. I managed to escape, but then, Santorum is in much deeper than I ever was.

Nothing more than a self-loathing, Catholic bigot.

Again, you can't say most Christians follow the Catholic theology, Lutherans and other Catholic Lites don't count. Most Protestants don't believe they are eating and drinking the actual flesh of Jesus and his blood.

Unless you can provide actual statics to back your assumption, I suggest we leave it at that because I would want sources :)

There are roughly:

1.2 billion Catholics
75 million Lutherans
85 million Anglicans
230 million Orthodox

that is roughly 1.6 billion out of a total of about 2.1+/- billion Christians....or a little over 76% of all the worlds Christians whose theology believes in the Real Presence...that's a strong majority.

so that's another 75 million roughly, and I forgot the Oriental Orthodox...mea culpa, which adds an additional 80 million...so that brings the total to 1.7-1.8 billion out of 2.1 billion...so between 80-85% of all Christians recognize the Real Presence. While Transubstantiation is uniquely Catholic, the Real Presence is not.
