Yoga is about breathing and stretching exercises. How on Earth can that be a foot soldier of Satan?

Honestly, it sounds like God isn't very powerful, since all I hear on this board is how Satan controls absolutely everything.

Yoga is cheating atheists and many others. You can not do high level yoga without going spiritual. You can stretch yourself on a floor mat. But that is only lesson 1, and you do not have to call it yoga.

Satan does control everything on the earth except one which is called the Salvation. God allows this to happen because His love to human.

Yes.

We know [positively] that we are of God, and the whole world [around us] is under the power of the evil one.

False. I have a good friend who is a yoga instructor and is not in any way, shape, or form an adherent of Sanatana Dharma or "spiritual" in how you clearly define it.

Incorrect. I'll take the words of a person certified to teach it over yours'.

Manicheanism is far more widespread than I initially thought. A real pity.

Maybe you can explain why Google doesn't recognize it with an "n"?

Maybe you can explain why, when you make the correction in Google, the first offering is this ...
Manichaeism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

... and while you're at it, could you explain why you gave me a dictionary and a "wiki-nary" (what nonsense!!) when I asked you if you know what it is. I know what it is. I'm not sure you do.

(In fairness, I'm playing with you. There is a secondary spelling with the "n" but it is secondary.)

Google isn't a dictionary.

And if you read the article yourself, it clearly says my spelling is an alternative.

I doubt your words in the strongest of senses, given my actual education on the subject.

There are no secondary spellings; only alternatives.

I seem to know English better than most too then it seems. :)

Good point - one would think Satan is already in control.

Just a few facts. While we are absolutely not to worship angels (as Michael tells John in the Revelation), angels have a definite place in God's plan, and they do have a purpose in revealing themselves to mankind.

http://www.reformedreflections.ca/studies/6-reality-of-angels.pdf
"The Bible does not record any activity of angels on behalf of man until after his fall into sin. The first appearance is the cherubim. Immediately after the fall God began His rescue operation, His gracious intervention in the life of man and the world. The cherubim are servants in God's wonderful plan of salvation. We must remember that angels exist for God and His glory. They are His messengers. It is difficult to imagine what cherubim are like. The four- winged cherubim are perhaps of slightly lesser rank than the seraphim. They are the guardians of the throne of God. (Ps.99:1) They already appear in Genesis. After the banishment of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden God placed on its east side a cherubim with "a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life." (Gen. 3:24) The cherubim had to protect man, the sinner, against himself. At the gate of paradise they represent God's law, which Adam and Eve had disobeyed. In Exodus two cherubims of hammered gold had to be put on the ark of the covenant (25:18f. ) In 1 King 6 and 2 Chronicles 3, in the accounts of the building of the temple, the cherubim were carved on the walls. Solomon also ordered a pair of sculptured cherubim for the Most Holy Place. The cherubim in the tabernacle and temple symbolize God's presence (Ps. 80:1) In the tabernacle and temple they reveal the mystery and wonder of God's mercy; the Holy God and sinful man are reconciled through the atoning sacrifices offered, foreshadowing the perfect sacrifice of God's own Son. Tabernacle and Temple are the meeting places of God and the forgiven sinner.

"Michael and Gabriel are the chiefs of the angels. Both are the highest emissaries of God. Their appearances and actions show how frequently heaven interacted with earth. Michael, whose name means "who is like the Lord" is described as "one of the chief princes", "the great prince who has charge of your people, and more briefly "your prince" (Dan.10:13;10:21;12:1) Michael is therefore regarded as the patron-angel of the Jews. The book of Daniel portrays a vivid picture of the war being waged between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of the world, not only on earth but also in the spiritual world (cf. Eph.6:12). Jude 9 records
Micheal's mysterious struggle with the devil, the prince of darkness. Michael is the mighty one who fights for God's people. He rides out with the might of the Lord of host to crush Satan. Revelation 12:7ff describe how Michael and his angels overcame the devil and his demonic hosts and chased them out of heaven. Michael prevails in the battle. What an encouragement for God's people! Evil does not have the final word. The ultimate victory belongs to the Lord! Gabriel means "God's hero" or "mighty one" or "God is great.""

Ask your yoga instructor: what is the ultimate purpose of yoga?

If he said: physical exercise. Then he is still in lesson 1 no matter how much can he stretch himself.

I don't practice yoga. I never said my good friend was my instructor. Please...quote me where?

1. My friend's a she.
2. She's the expert, not you, especially not with that sort of Manichean theology.

Lately, I have heard a few people at my church call certain things of the world "satanic."

I don't know how many of you have hard of Mark Driscoll, the pastor of Mars Hill church in Seattle, but I watched a video of him on YouTube calling yoga "satanic" because of its hindu origins.

My question is: for you, what is the line between something that is secular vs. something that is satanic or demonic?

In my opinion, yoga is not something to be classified as satanic but rather just secular. Secular things can be redeemed by God but Satanic things cannot.

What are your thoughts? Examples would be appreciated too!

Well using Mark Driscoll as an example .

Satanic is when he makes Satan look like a superhero by the way he presents God .

Demonic is theology that wires the brain in a way that is enabling towards demon possession .

It's hard to say if Mark Driscoll is just a jerk or if he's possessed by a devil or not . but either is plausible .

I do "practice" yoga, at my home. I don't call it yoga because it is only stretching, nothing else.

Ask her what else should I do besides stretching. When she starts to say something like: ... concentration ..., then you know what I am talking about.

There's a word for this...

I have; your accusations are baseless and, given the above, hypocritical.

This debate is therefore logically over by self-contradiction and false witness.

OP, my initial post in this thread is what you should go by, as well as those posts which are in equal agreement. We together are telling you the truth.

What did she say? When you maintain a position for an extended period of time (longer and longer through practice), what does your mind do during that period of time?

Practicing yoga makes you go away from God, for whatever reason. It is much more than just a physical exercise.

Stay away from it!!! It can invite Yoga-Demons

yoga—demon possession. Philippians 2:5 says, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" To open your mind in meditation to a series of pagan gods and occult powers is Satanic. This is strictly forbidden in the Bible.

SOURCE: KUNDALINI YOGA

"Yoga is opening the door to Satanic influence. Each pose is tuning the body, glands and psychic nervous system and a dangerous access to spiritual forces of darkness is provided".

5. Yoga is deceiving as:
5.1 It is no religion, all are welcome.
5.2 Little effort is required. Exercises such as "dead pose" are more attractive than strenuous exercises.
5.3 No skill is necessary .

Basing your faith on the text of the bible opens the door for the devil also. As Galatians exposits it disconnects you from fellowship with the Holy Spirit and makes you so anemic .. that by the time the law magnifies sin into death into devil (as is written) . you're powerless to do anything but run .

so in demonizing other forms of spirituality . don't let yourself get cut off from the source of life by replacing God with a book.

I would rather use the word demonic, then satanic, when I think of satanic, I think of a cult. Yoga is of demonic roots, If you take a sour apple, and add lots of sugar, the original apple was still sour, you may have changed the flavor but it was still a sour apple.
Example: have you heard of reiki? its origin is Japan
its a healing exercise, well its witchcraft, lots of christians do partake in it
The fine line of knowing the difference of God versus demons, is discernment, stay close to God, ask Him for increased discernment, HE will actually point things out to you.
When ever you enter into things that are unknown, the Holy Spirit will warn you, if you ask. Ask Jesus to cover you in His blood when entering unknown territories, blessings!
