I wasn't asking if God was physical (divinity of Jesus questions aside). I was asking what God looks like or what you think God looks like.
We are answering the question. In order to "look like" something, God would have to be either physical or energy. After all, we know what light looks like. Since God is not physical, God either 1) doesn't look like anything or 2) God can look like anything He wants to. God has the power to assume the likeness of anything in the physical universe. Thus we have the Burning Bush in Exodus.

So, God does not "look like" anything. Sometimes people have found it convenient to portray God as an elderly white man with a beard. However, that is not to say that God really looks like that. Shoot, I have stick models I used to show what molecules "look like", but that doesn't mean the molecules really look like that. It's just a representation for convenience.

We do have some fascinating visions; Ezekiel 1, and Rev give us some awesome pictures. The picture painted by Moses' Tabernacle has meaning in every detail. I'd say if we're going to "see" anything, it won't be with our physical eyes unless He gives us a visual representation like these - but one day we will (with the eyes of Faith, IMHO) see Him as He is!

This is the latest description we have of Him.

Revelation 1:12-16
Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.

So god is nothing???

This is an inherent problem with your theology here. Stop and think about that for a minute: Your god looks like nothing. How does it even exist then?

I know what you mean with the old man in the sky figure. Oh man, so many christians show God to be an elderly dude in the sky with big muscles and a beard! If that's not man made I don't know what is!!!! LOL

But to say God looks like "nothing" is a big problem. Since when did spiritual mean "looks like nothing"? People have had spiritual visions and they still look like things. If something looks like nothing, then it's nothing.

That's out of left field. I don't know where you're getting that from!!!
Really? What is the alternative? Should we understand God how it is presented on television, as a person? Or is there a particular physical form he should be imagined to be, if not like a human?

He also looks like the wind blowing leaves, He looks like the sun shining. He smells like pine needles and dirt. He looks like a star in the sky. A lot of Christians might poo poo the idea that we look to His actual creation to get an idea of who God is and that that idea of what He looks like taken from His own creation is the best image of what we can possibly understand He may look like...but I don't care what most Christians think anymore.

What about you, Becky, what does God look like to you?

I would like to know what God looks like, or what you think God looks like. Thanks!

You might find this book a valuable resource.

God in the Mirror: Reflections on the Physiology of Faith

It may be available at the local public library or, if they don't have it in their stacks, inquire as to whether or not they participate in an "Inter-Library Loan" program. A program wherein collaborating libraries agree to share their collections with one another, via patron request.
This bookworm is so well traveled thanks to Inter-Library loan. ;) ^_^

Blessings abide you,

If God isn't physical then it is impossible for God to look like anything.

Let's talk about the creator of automobile, did he have to become a car to know what was good or bad about man using the car ?
Can we conclude that the creator is uncreated?
Do you believe that there is oxygen around us ? If you say yes it is because you have evidence that it is around us because you breath it. But have you ever seen it?

God in His Essence is ineffable, invisible, incomprehensible. Thus God doesn't look like anything. God is God.

That of course is a visionary description of the glorified God-Man, our Lord Jesus Christ. Not a description of what God in His essence looks like, or what our Lord physically in His humanity looks like.

Looks like nothing and is nothing is very different.

If I asked you to explain what red looks like to a blind person, you'd probably find yourself unable to do so.

Now imagine someone trying to explain to you what ultraviolet looks like, you'd have no comprehension of it since human beings can't see ultraviolet.

Imagine trying to describe three dimensional existence to a two dimensional creature, how would you describe depth to such a being?

Imagine a twelve dimensional being trying to describe its existence to you. Can you even comprehend what sorts of words it'd use to describe this existence?

How would you describe a twelve dimensional being?

Now how much more is it impossible for us to describe That which is beyond description, comprehension and explanation?
