I think what Self Improvement might be getting at is that sometimes some Christians in these situations start throwing around the excluded middle fallacy in this situation. Between the extremes of Well you must be saying ALL Christians are like this huh! vs People that do that are not True Christians™!

The truth tends to be in the middle.
