I knew that someone would post something like this. It depends on what types of carbs you eat. It also depends on hereditary, sleep, exercise, etc.
Well, I can assure you that sugar (carbs, especially from fruit and bread) is never a good thing for your body as seen here:
The 76 Dangers of Sugar to Your Health
As a woman, I often think of this when I feel like wanting some dessert:
Sugar and vegetable oils (corn, soy, safflower, soybean) are responsible for the nutritional deficiency of America's food. Fat, especially from Omega 3's and olive/coconut/palm oil, are not converted to trans fat when heated. A skinny person can be internally "injured" from the years of junk food and trans fat.
- "Sugar can make your skin age by changing the structure of collagen.[66] "
Whole grains and fruit are good for you! (IMO)
I try to eat my foods as "whole" (not refined/processed) as reasonably possible...I basically eat a lot of whole grains, veggies and fruit and some lean meat (lots of fish) and low-fat dairy. I buy organic meat and milk and free-range eggs (after owning chickens I'll never buy caged chicken products again! Poor chickies!), and when it comes to produce I aim for local and organic depending on what it is (some are more worth the organic label than others). I eat a square of dark chocolate every day (yum) and have treats occasionally. I feel like I'm finally settling into a food balance that is working for me...not just a phase like I usually go through.
Currently I'm being a lazy bum so I need to get back into an exercise routine, but I work full-time in an apartment building and don't take the elevator so I do a lot of running up and down the stairs during work which must be better than nothing!
