The X-axis ain't linear ... or logarithmic ... LOLThat's not the X-axis.
Still like it though. It still conveys meaning.

Never trust a graph without a defined y-axis.
I would say, never trust a graph which suggests that WW1 was the pinnacle of British achievement.
I very humbly request your majesty's pardon. I meant no offense. In any case, I am quite sympathetic to the profound losses the British Empire suffered during its decline.I would say, never trust a graph which suggests that WW1 was the pinnacle of British achievement.
Should you need your former colony's help yet again in another future war with the continent, please be sure to call upon us, yet again.
Please provide all examples of the volatile WoC saga
War on Christmiss* Compilation Thread
There you go with a prime example.
Personally, I am interested in seeing how many churches will cancel Sunday services this year like they did the last time Christmas fell on Sunday (I believe that was 2005). It was the same year that they were urging people to boycott Walmart for switching to "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". I just thought it was so ironic that so many of their churches cancelled services that day because after all it was Christmas, and people should be with their families. I kept thinking that they accused others of taking Christ out of Christmas, but they cancelled services so that people could be with their families (and that attendance tends to be very low on Christmas). Supposedly, "Jesus is the reason for the season" as long as they aren't expected to be in church that day to worship the one who is the "reason for the season"--we wouldn't that to interrupt our celebration of His birth. So, I am going to be very interested to see what happens this year.
Do you often make things up?
The only article I was able to find about it was that one church in Georgia canceled Sunday services because they had already held four services on Christmas, the day before. The article said that it takes about 2000 volunteers to pull off a Sunday service because the crowds are so large - 23,000 over 3 campuses.
Let's recap: Christmas did not fall on a Sunday. Christmas services were not canceled. Sunday services were canceled because there had already been four services the day before. The Sunday service was canceled so 2000 volunteers could be with their families, not so the parishioners could be with theirs.
That wasn't even a good try.
Ah, the NY Times, that bastion of fairness and accuracy. If I could post links I would post a link to my story, which was in the Christian Post, on the same subject, and it explains WHY the decisions were made.
As usual, the only people who care about this are people who don't go to church anyway.
And, as even the NY Times pointed out, if you can't get into your megachurch you can always attend one of the liturgical churches.

You Brits certainly do take offense easily, it seems.A chip on your shoulder after more than three hundred years?
Really?
You gotta love the Brits. Just like the French, they're always there when they need usYou Brits certainly do take offense easily, it seems.
Even my humble apology is rebuffed ...
Oh well ... in the spirit of goodwill, the offer still stands ...

Just what the world needs; more racism.
If this is how you speak of your allies, Lord help those you don't like.
Can I remind everyone that the subject of this thread is those who want to wage war on Christmas. It is NOT Brit OR French bashing.
Yes, I've heard it said that the US and Britain are two countries divided by a common language.Either you have a non standard semantic construct for 'humble' and 'apology' or else US Standard English is even further from British Standard English than I imagined.
It's a wonder any communication is possible.
Interesting point, Catherineanne. I would hope that honest discussion was possilbe, at least. Humor is often a problem when different languages are spoken. I suppose it's easy to forget that American and Brits have quite different outlooks.Tell me, what do you think any German person here would say if I made a snide comment referring to WWI and WWII to them? Do you think that would be conducive to good relations?
