Then you tell me, AV:

I create a rock ex nihilo today, and it radiometrically dates as 10,000 years old, then hand it to you with no information about its origins, nor any intention of telling you.

Using any method you like, scientific or otherwise, can you tell me how long it has existed?

6016 years.

How did you come up with that date??

So then, by extension, the earth [only] appears to be 4.57 billion years old?

The earth appears to be very old. Upon close inspection, it is 4.5 byo. Now, you can claim it appears to be 4.5 byo, but please do not say the earth [only] appears to be 4.5 byo. "Only" implies a lack of rigor that is disingenuous. Of course, the "appearance" question once again leads to "Trickster" god problem.

None of that is found in the rock. Try again.
Try reading the question I was addressing; viz. "How long has it existed"?

Since the earth is 4.57 billion years old, but has only been in existence for some 6000 years, the same goes for the earth as well -- (not to mention the universe, which is 13.7 billion years old, but has only been in existence for some 6000 years).

(You do realize that the earth is [existentially] older than the rest of the universe, don't you?)

If a rock came into existence ex nihilo and radiodated as 10,000 years old:

1. Explain why that would not be an example of embedded age.

2. How old would the rock be:

  • physically
  • existentially
Nothing comes into existence that way.

But... if it did that would make your deity a liar. A deceiver.

Yes, AV -- you are a YEC; no matter how desperately you try and fail to equivocate your way out of it.
Something that has been in existence for 6,000 years, but looks and acts like it has been in existence for 4.57 billion years, is 6,000 years old. Appearance does not trump reality. You are a YEC, AV -- embrace it; don't be ashamed of it.

No. Lets assume Jesus only did one miracle. JUST one.
He caused a man born without eyes to see.
ASSUMING just this one miracle.

His new eyes are how old? If I know the guy, I say they are new eyes.
Anyone else says he had them his whole life.

His eyes are not "new" or "old".
God Trumps both appearances and reality.

Anyone else makes an incorrect conclusion based on incomplete information, and are deceived by appearances.

You know the truth -- you simply choose to ignore it for obvious reasons.

His eyes are not "new" or "old".

He had no eyes yesterday; he has eyes today.

Ergo, his eyes are new.

God Trumps both appearances and reality.

AV is not God -- for that matter, neither are you.

I must say, I am getting so sick of reminding fundies of this simple yet humbling fact.

Everything in the body is suppose to regenerate itself over a 7 year period of time. It's funny how all those new cells take on the external appearance of old cells. The problem with cancer is getting the old diseased cells to die so they can be replaced with new healthy cells. That is why the treatment is to kill off the old cells to allow the body to make new cells.

1. Because the rock was created ex nihilo 10,000 years ago.

2. 10,000 years and 10,000 years, respectively.

This was easy!

You telling us that this passage is describing a treatment for cancer?

Let's make it harder then.

Suppose this rock comes into existence tomorrow, with the same embedded age?

Is your answer the same?
