How do we know that a person is anointed, today?

Many 'churches' call members within their congregation, prophets or apostles. We find in N/T scripture, that ministers are 'teachers' (below the apostles or prophets). Bishops, Deacons, are simply 'teachers', that are given church 'hierarchy' positions.

What 'proof' is required (supported by scripture), that lets someone know, that another person is in fact 'anointed by God', as a prophet or apostle?

Numbers 12:6, refers only to a prophet. The O/T scripture seems to tell us to 'test' the prophecies of a prophet. Is there any need for further prophecies beyond the N/T?

The "baptism of fire/Holy Spirit" that was promised to the believers at Pentecost. When we are saved we are infilled with the Holy Spirit, when we are subsequently "baptized" by the Holy Spirit that's the anointing to preach the gospel with power and passion.

We have to remember, that there is a difference between a 'teacher' and an anointed prophet or apostle. The prophets/apostles, received The Word, 'first hand' from God, and not man. Teachers receive The Word, from men. The scriptures tell us, that those who received The Word from God directly, in order to teach others, were called 'gods'. In the case of Jesus Christ, He was God/The Word, Himself.

I've experienced this, but as living proof I can testify that I am absolutely not qualified to carry any title or perform the work of a ministry.

Something that is very strange, is the way in which God chooses someone to 'anoint'. It appears, that in fact, He chooses 'the least' [in man's eyes] and makes them 'the greatest' [in His own eyes]. We see this in the case of Moses, Joseph, David, disciples, prophets and apostles, etc. I believe that this is so that no man can become 'high-headed', and believe that his works have gotten him anointed. Christ did not choose any 'clergy' as His original disciples.

Bah. Well, if that were true in my case then I'm sure God would have done something by now. As it is, I'm content to share with people on a one-on-one basis. And it's not like churches are springing up under my feet or anything, so I really don't think I'm "equipped" for that sort of ministry.

I'm not sure what you are telling me, in the above quote. We have to be careful, that we do not fall into 'the blind leading the blind'. This also applies to the 'ministry'. It is written, that we will return to the days of Noah. The ministry is not exempt from this, nor were the scribes and Pharisees in the time of Christ.

We are given the instructions to seek wisdom from God (seek, ask, knock, etc.). Never rely on another human being's 'understanding'. The risk is too high.

Oh for sure. I'm just not convinced that baptism in the Spirit is the sign of position or office in the church. I really don't know how someone can know what his office or title should be, unless God intervened somehow and confirmed it, preferrably with witnesses.

All I know is that with the Spirit come certain gifts, and mine is strange for certain. I don't think I've even seen it described in the NT, but that doesn't stop me from just walking the walk and doing what I'm led to do.

When a person is chosen by God for a specific purpose, that person will definitely know this. The person will never be 'forced' to accept the challenge. Even Isaiah was given a choice to accept or not.

If you think that you have a problem, try what I experienced;

In 2003, I had two visions, followed by a dream (all in riddles). Prior to these, I was spoken to in God's own voice, when I was troubled, and went to Him in very intense prayer.

In the first vision, I 're-lived' my carnal birth. In the second vision, I was in the presence of God. I was not allowed to see The Father or The Holy Ghost, but I was made aware of their presence. Christ appeared, standing on the right hand of 'someone' that I didn't know, but both Christ and this other person, were 'identical', in every way. It took six and a half years of reading the Bible, praying, internet research, and communicating with many ministers, before all of the meanings to the riddles in the dream, were explained to me. (Read Numbers 12:6 and John 14:21-23.)

I just don't get how pastors can throw the term anointed around so loosely as if they can use gods anointing however and whenever they see fit..gods anointing is the empowering ability to let the holy spirit work on ones behalf, but the problem with this is that sometimes our all to deceptive flesh (ego) can intervene and obstruct gods message for believers..the real question is what characteristics can we directly discern to distinguish gods anointing from mans ego..after all, history has proved how power corrupts as a result our democratic government has set up political safeguards to insure that this doesn't happen..sadly, today from the pulpit, there aren't any intellectual mechanisms we can use to differentiate when a pastor, preacher, teacher, is slipping out of the anointing and into the flesh, which asserts itself with just as much power of articulation..

That is interesting. My experiences began about a year later than yours (roughly 2004). I also have seen the dreams and visions - even prophetic dreams that were fulfilled in my own sight.

But, the thing is, as far as prophecy goes, I've never had a prophecy for another person. It just seemed to serve as a confirmation to me for the reality of God's presence, and in my estimation that's all it was because before it began to happen I was seeking hard after God and prayed that He would show me the truth.

There is one vision that I do recall though: that of an old man wearing a cloak and turning through the pages of some collection of old manuscripts, and I heard a voice saying "this is what you are." But that's kind of ambiguous if you know what I mean; it still remains so much of a mystery.

Anyways, I think it's great that you were able to figure it out for yourself. And I hope that at least eventually I'll find the answers as well.

You are correct. I listened to a lot of sermons, after my experiences in 2003. I actually became fed up with ministers telling me that Christ is my saviour, every Sunday. I knew this from attending church and reading the Bible, when I was younger than 10 years of age. We are told by scripture, to cease 'sucking milk', and start maturing into a Christian, that God can use to glorify His name. This means, that we may even be 'thrown out of our own church', after He teaches us things, that the ministers do not believe. The ministers believe that 'they know everything', and somehow, by attending a bible college, they are better equipped to teach God's Word, than those who God, Himself has chosen to give some special wisdom to. Even the scriptures tell us, that prophets know only 'in part'. The ministers are 'below the prophets', but they have become 'high-headed'. We are told to discuss amongst ourselves, what each of us has experienced as an individual with our relationship with God, so that all may learn. The ministers love to hear their own voice, only.

Thorwald, you are an inspired man.

I was just thinking about how, after my explosive conversion, I figured: ok, this is what Christianity is, it's time to go join a church. So I joined a non-denominational church and it ended up as a sad experience for me. At the time, I thought that there was something wrong with me and that the Lord didn't want me with his congregation. I have been walking independantly for years with this assumption.

Your vision contains part of what I also experienced in my dream. The old manuscripts, are the 'true' written scriptures, that are very old. This is 'all' of the original word given unto us. Your turning of the pages, represents you praying & searching for answers (wisdom/understanding). You have delighted God, by seeking His help (knock, ask, seek), rather than relying on another human being's help.

The 'Word' in my dream, was represented by many 'tarnished' brass 'medallions' (containing Hebrew writings that I could not interpret), along with various old 'treasures' (God's promises in the scriptures). These were all contained in a very old building (KJV Bible), with some of the 'WORD' flowing out through one wall, between studs (lost Word).

I would like to know more about your vision(s). If you are fortunate enough to receive more dreams/visions, write them down immediately when you can. I was awakened after my dream, and using my thoughts, told to write the dream down.

I've seen what Paul saw (2 Cr 3:18), what Moses saw on Mt. Sinai, and what Christ promised us (John 11:40).

But isn't this normal for true believers?

Very few have experienced what we have. Believe me. Until I read your postings, I thought that I was the only one. I have been asked to leave one 'church', banned from several 'Christian' forums, been told by ministers that it was 'satan' trying to make me a false prophet, etc., etc.

It was interesting and very educational. Every time that I attended a different church, I came away with the knowledge, that the ministers had no clue as to the real 'depth of understanding' that is hidden in the scriptures. In the dream that I had, God told me that 'there was something 'broken'. I volunteered to 'fix' that which was broken. Little did I realize, what I had just volunteered for. He told me, that 'anything' that I wanted to know concerning the scriptures (including the lost Word), I had but to ask Him in prayer, and I would receive it.

As I was reading the N/T scriptures, the scriptures contained 'new' verses, that disappeared later, after I read them. Some are as follows;

1. The Father is always praying for you (Holy Ghost making intercession?).
2. Fear comes from dishonesty (self-explanatory).
3. You need no man to give you an understanding of The Word of God (God will give this to you, if you ask Him.).

I have been given a great deal of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. I prayed daily for about 10 years, two or three times per day, for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and experience, before receiving my first vision. I knew that there was 'something wrong' with what I was being taught in church. Little did I know, that there was in fact,...a lot wrong.

The KJV Bible, is 'the only' Bible, recognized by God. Woe be unto those that created/teach/believe in/use any other book, and call it God's Word. God is very angry....to the same degree as He was with Aaron's two sons.

Well this has been a great experience. I thank you deeply for sharing your gift, because, well you have provided an answer for a question that has been a burden on me for quite some time.

There is something feel that I need to share with you though, and don't take my word for it (as if I need to tell you that).

When you say that God is angry, I get this feeling as well. But it seems to be anger toward the "church" and what it is doing with His gift to the world. What I believe that I have been led to see is that God does not hate humanity! Of course, he opposes the evil that is in this world but he wants to save us.

There is a serious flaw in our theology that is driving people away from the Truth. In hermeneutics, theologians have been interpreting scripture with scripture. It seems wise, but not when the revelation which was given to us is interpreted through the old works. By doing this we have been seeing the image of Christ through a tainted lense, where we should be looking at the old things through the lense of Christ. The truth is, Moses was set aside for misrepresenting the Lord, Levi was prophesied to be cruel, and Christ showed us His nature by saying "Neither do I condemn thee", and "be not afraid."

When the paradigm is shifted, we can see that God forgives us for our imperfections because of the depths of His grace and transformative power that we are promised. And it becomes clear that our enemy is not our imperfections and lack of holiness, but the spirit of malice and cruelty.

Our churches have failed to believe the words of Christ, and have fallen into the fear of that which God is not. In doing so, they attribute the nature of God to be much like our enemy's, and thus God rages.

If it is true, I pray the Lord confirm it.

No, no I didn't mean it was a sign for a position in the church. But all of us who are born-again should be in full-time ministry. And that doesn't need to be in a church building. We can witness our Christ and what he has done for us anywhere.
