Coping with illness

We are looking at starting a Bible study for ppl who stuggle with these issues as well as the caretakers of those that suffer. There are ppl out there that get it but they are shut in and/or isolated. Joni Erickson has kits for ppl to start home fellowships of these type. If there is nothing of this type where you live consider starting one yourself...think of what a blessing you could be to others through this sort of work.

I hear you. Yeah, very good idea. Right now I'm just not managing my necessary tasks so I'm feeling rather done in. I've been better now that I've put my health first but it's going to be a while before I can commit to something such as this. That's why I find this web site helpful. But yeah, I agree; it's totally beneficial. Take care.

I would like to ask for prayer. I'm having a tough time. My doctor moved and I'm having a difficult time keeping my treatment plan in place and finding a new doctor. Right now I have no support and this isn't good. I hope it's God's will to help me work out some good support and a way to finance it. Feeling rather worried and discouraged. Thanks.

I understand the crash and burn felling...I am following you on this trail close behind.

Thanks to the fact that our country is broke both morally and financially I may not be driving my special needs kids next school year...driving a big bus is getting to be almost impossible. At 50 with a broken body, I don't have a clue what will become of I and my wife.

Bottom line...life is ugly at best and much worse for most. I am afraid all I am good for at this point is to look towards Heaven and point for others..."look up for your redemption is nigh". The sooner the better.

I hear you. I don't have the wear with all to even point right now. Don't get me wrong I believe. It's just one of those times when I feel completely at a loss. Want to do my part to make things better for myself and others and just don't know what that is. Reminds me of the lady that noted that life can be like a plane in peril. We need to get the oxygen mask on ourselves before we can help others. My response to her was that, some times it's a struggle just to get the mask on. Difficult to set boundaries and simply meet our own needs. The fight and struggle just to survive. Sounds rather down but this is where I'm at. I will continue to pray for you and your family. Thanks for the reminder that others understand and have some of the same struggles. Take care.

By the way, I thought I should tell you that I have a lady from the government (health care) has been trying to help me out. It's been really good just to talk to her about some of the things going on. As well, I phoned a hospital department the other day and they were supportive and kind. The end of the conversation, I found out I was speaking to a different department than I thought. A real blessing in disguise because the department I meant to phone was unhelpful but 'mistakingly' contacting the other department I found some potentially good help. Funny how God works. Still all up in the air but I saw this experience as a piece of God's plan and encouraging. My pain / health has been worse but my 'spirits' have improved some.

I have a request. My 3 grown children are not walking with the Lord...more important than my own issues is that they would follow Him.

I'll definitely be praying for you all. Issues like this are tough with loved ones. Don't have children but have nieces / nephews / family / friends who struggle. Can be heart wrenching. Hope you and your family find peace and comfort during your difficult times. Don't mind praying any time you have a request.

I'm happy to say that because of God's plan and the people He's brought into my life these last few days I feel encouraged, comforted and strengthened. I hear you. I've not been working for a while but yeah, we can push ourselves unrealistically and then pay the price. One of the misnomers I've come across is that having Chronic Fatigue etc. means we're unmotivated and this is so very much not the case. Some times I think we can be too hard on ourselves. I'm glad you are pacing yourself. I know it helps me over all to get more done because then I'm not stuck being completely out of commission for days. Hope you feel better soon.

I've decided to post this message because it addresses some misnomers concerning certain illnesses and clarifies my beliefs regarding them. I have been ill for many years, over a decade and one doctor thinks I've been suffering the majority of my life. I've been misdiagnosed and undiagnosed for many years. My main diagnoses are Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Myofascial Pain and Firbromyalgia. Not unheard of to have a combo among these three. I'm diagnosed with all three and as extensive. Among many symptoms I have pain in my entire body 24 hours a day every minute day and night. I can't take many pill; I get bad side effects and I won't take addictive meds. I have to rely on physio. food, massage, vitamins, hot water, medicated cream (so I avoid ingesting it to avoid side effects), etc. Because everything takes so much effort to deal with, the pain, chores, etc. any stress and heavy emotional processing junk can take extraordinary amounts of energy to deal with as does extra physical exertion and this takes it's toll on my immune system and body and I then become sicker getting other illnesses like infections, etc. and it takes progressively longer to recover the worse it gets. There's a fair few people who think these are psychological illnesses but they are not. Those of us with these illnesses just can't expend a lot of energy whether it be physical or emotional.

Have you checked into the diets developed by Ellen G. White of the Seventh Day Adventists. I'm not of that denomination but I've heard of some very good results from her dietary plan to lessen medical conditions. She was very sick in her youth but gained strength and health through eating the right foods as an adult and lived to about 90.
It's worth a look.
