The Mother of Harlots

In Revelation 17:5 we are told the woman that sat upon the scarlet colored beast had a name written on her forehead; " MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF ALL HARLOTS, AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." Many try to confine this MOTHER OF HARLOTS to the present tense, and even some try put her in a literal place like the United States. If the United States were the Mother, or the origin of the harlots, then who would be her daughters?

Makes no sense to me, but let us see what the scriptures tells us about this Mother of the harlots. We know a Harlot is one who leaves her first love for another, thereby playing the Harlot. So who was the Lords first love? And who were the first people God had made a covenant with? If you answered Israel you would be correct.

In Jeremiah chapter 3 the Lord pleads with Israel to return to him, even though she has played the Harlot with many lovers, and has greatly polluted the land with her abominations. In Ezekiel 23:2 we see she is known as the Mother of 2 daughters that have also played the harlot, and committed whoredoms throughout the land. So by scripture we see Israel is the origin, or Mother of the harlots.

These 2 daughters of 1 mother are called Aholah, which means his tabernacle, and the other is Aholibah, which means my tabernacle. These 2 tabernacles would be defiled, and were spoken of in Daniel 11:45; but are not to be taken as a literal place. These 2 defiled tabernacles would be planted by the evil one between the 2 seas.

Aholah is Samaria to the North, and Aholibah is Jerusalem to the south. These 2 represent the divided kingdom of Israel to the north, and Judah to the south. This divided kingdom is shown over and over in scripture, and was given to symbolize a much bigger divided kingdom. This division of this wordly kingdom was shown to us in the 2 legs of the image shown to Nebuchanezzar in Daniel 2:33.

This much larger worldly kingdom would be parted when Jesus came and passed judgment upon this Great mountain. In Zechariah 14:4 we see this great mountain would be divided into 2 parts; half to the north, and half to the south. By doing this the Lord would make a great valley that would run between the 2 mountains, just as Jesus would make ( a way) for his children to passover. Just as Jesus said; " I am the way."

So just as Moses parted the Red sea by the power of God, Jesus also parted the sea of people for his true children to pass through. But in between these 2 seas of people, and in between this parted mountain, the evil one would persue after and try to overcome the children of Israel, just like Pharoah and his army did in the exodus.

The first generation was of the Jews to the North, but the second generation was of the Gentiles to the south. But (the way) would be made known by Jesus to( the east), and the latter day( remnant of Israel) to (the west.) That is why the Lord left a ( remnant) of the western wall standing in Jerusalem to this day.

But what was the Lord showing in the Mother of Harlots? If we go to Leviticus 24:11 we see it is the Israelitish woman's son that blaspemed and cursed the name of the Lord. But before anybody jumps to any conclusions about this sign lets look at what the Lord is showing in this sign. Notice the Israelitish woman had a husband that was from Egypt. This tells us that this evil son was of a worldly father.

The Lord was showing us how his first love Israel would turn away from Him, and defile herself with the ways of the world. The Lord would entrust his Word to them, but they would turn away from the Truth, and defile themselves with the beliefs and traditions of the nations around them.

Think about this, what is the origin of the 3 main beliefs in this world today? Judaism, Christian, and Muslim faiths are all based upon the single God of Abraham. But like Israel, they have all gone astray and have corrupted themselves by man-made beliefs, and worldly doctrine, and traditions. So though Israel was to represent the origin, or the Mother of the Truth, it is the man-made beliefs that entered in to that Truth, which has also corrupted that very Truth. Just as the transgression away from the Truth, is also the origin of the lie, or the Mother of all the Harlots.

This corrupted version of the Truth is the Mother that has played the Harlot along with her daughters; which are of all peoples, nations, and tongues, not just Israel. That is why the beast she rides on sits on many waters.

This Babylon is not just a Nation, but it is a spiritual corruption that has consumed all Nations, and all people, and all tongues. It is this whole evil world system we see before us this day. That is why the Lord said; "come out of her my people, and be not a partaker of her sins."

James 4:4; " You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that friendship of the world is enmity with God?" Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

The way the Lord has shown me is that he usually shows things first in the natural, and on a small scale first in order to reveal them in a much larger and spiritual manner. Though Israel was considered in scripture as the mother of the harlot daughters, I believe she was to represent false religion as a whole in the last days.

When the gospel of Jesus Christ was sent to world and recieved by the Nations they also became like a woman betrothed to her husband. But when the Nations turned away from following after the Truth in the Word of God they also became like Israel who had forsaken her first love.

That is why she sits on many waters, or peoples, nations and tongues.

The book of Revelation is full of symbolism. Though she is refered to as Babylon, the city that killed the prophets was Jerusalem.

Matthew23:37;" O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that kills the prophets, and stones them which are sent unto you, how often I would have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wing, and you would not!"

In Luke 11:50 Jesus told the lawyers of Jerusalem that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation."

Then in verse 51 Jesus tells them it shall be required of this generation.

In the literal sense Jerusalem of old fits the bill. But I believe in the spiritual sense the great city in Revelation is more of a political, and religous order that is set up in all nations.

The prophecies given in Revelation were set into motion some 1,978 years ago, many parts have already been fulfilled, but there are many yet to be fulfilled. Most all of the symbolisms given in the book of Revelation can be found all throughtout the scriptures, and it is necessary to use the whole text to discern their meanings by way of the Holy Spirit.

I found the best way to study Revelation is piece by piece. Take one verse at a time and break it down word for word. Compare a single word or verse to other parts of scripture, and draw your conclusions from that.

Don't come to the study of Revelation with any preconcieved notions, or ideas based on man made doctrine, that will only throw you off. Just simply ask the Lord to show you the meanings of the symbolisms, and then believe in what you asked for.

No man can teach you understanding in the scriptures, only God can. If you will just put your faith and trust in his Word and Spirit, then you will be given all the understanding you need.

Not because I desire to throw more bricks in your oven, but you did not clearly explain how that the city that would emerge in the last days can become the mother of all whoredoms and abominations dating backward, or how it is possible for her children to in fact proceed her in time, but that this mother would also not have any children to come after her.

It may seem strange to you, but to me it is just as easily pointed out in Scriptures, so we may conclude that Mystery Babylon is the crowning achievement in hypocrisy against the Lord, the ultimate of her kind, so being able to wrap up the whole definition which is written and immutable: and they shall become the end of what her predecessors/children were aimed to accomplish, and what they were naturally serving/giving their strength/pressing unto.

So, by design, the historical figures of the past, whose children have been for a while now, and to this day, been furthering to establish and build the city, which will enable them to spread their Nicolaitan's way the most, while they usurp and boast the Lord's namesake to their own greedy gains, as they have always had that intention to bear dominion and rule over kings, as they mingle holy flesh and seek after the things of this world, as the heathen do, that they might do like as the nations whom they go a whoring after: even those who have already come and have gone, are but children of their mother, who will be disclosed in this last time, along with all the blood-guilt, of all time, shored up.

I'm Sorry, I thought I made it clear in my post that the widespread (spiritual corruption) ruling in (the world) today would make up that Great City.

The literal (Mother of harlots) in scripture was Israel.

The literal center of her religion was based in (the city) of (Jerusalem.)

The literal people of( Babylon) would come and destroy that literal city, and put her people in bondage.

All of these signs are given concerning the Harlot, the great city, and the name Babylon.

In the days of Jeremiah, before the Chaldees came, and the Babylonians came to destroy the city of Jerusalem, the people were warned by God to (come out of the city) in order to live.

This was the same warning given by Jesus to the Jews living in Jerusalem before the abomination of desolation was set up in 70 a.d. He told the people when they saw the city compassed about with armies, they were to flee out of the midst of her, and flee to the mountains.

This is the same message given in the book of Revelation concerning Gods people. They are told to come out of her, and be not a partaker of her sins.

In the days of Jeremiah and Daniel the city was literal, in the days of Jesus the city was literal, but here in the last days I believe the Harlot, the great city, and Babylon hold a (much broader spiritual meaning,) not to be taken as a literal place.

We know this because the woman that rides on the back of this wordly beast sits on many waters, which is shown as (many peoples, nations, and tongues.) So this last Harlot, this last great city, and this last spiritually defiled, and corrupt kingdom of Babylon is global, world wide, and made up of all NATIONS.

This spiritual point is proven in Revelation 11:8;"And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the (great city), which (spiritually) is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."

We know by scripture that Jesus was crucified in the city of Jerusalem, not Sodom,, or Egypt. But notice we are told in that verse the (great city) was (spiritual) not literal. So one must ask what is it the meaning of Sodom and Egypt.

The common thread between Egypt and Sodom was they were places that oppressed, enslaved, corrupted, and vexed in Spirit the children of God. Just as that spiritually corrupt, and lavish kingdom of Babylon also enslaved and corrupted the children of Israel.

All these things are given to us so that we might see, and understand the greater spiritual picture here in the last days.
