But you've already decided that what they preach is wrong. So why keep following them?
It's your prerogative, and you can obviously do whatever you want, but I think it's remarkably foolish and an incredible waste of time and energy to follow around someone you've already determined you disagree with.
So when do you stop following them?
Ok. That was way off my point I was making. Thanks for playing.
Faulty said:If you want to know if someone is a false teacher or not, I fully recommend following them around for a while, hearing and reading what they teach, until you understand their core and motives and techniques, and always question what your teachers say in that whenever they cite a scripture to make a point, stop, read that passage in context of the scripture it's placed in, and then determine if that passage lines up to the way the teacher is handling the verse.
Read this to see why I feel that my long-held reservations about Rick Warren were well-founded: Chrislam Starts to Spread in America.
Rick Warren signed a document published by Yale agreeing among other things that we need to "acknowledge" that Yahweh and Allah are the same being. You can see this document and the signatories at A Common Word - Rick Warren was not my only surprise.
Gen 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
I'm new to Christian Forums. I have to google "calvanist" and "Rick Warren" to follow the thread. Let God judge each person. Let's not throw stones. Seriously, in the way you judge another, you shall be judged, to quote Jesus.
