Well for starters, that's probably b/c when Jesus said that He was talking about the Second Coming & not the rapture for one.

I love these armchair bible scholars that quote the word so "matter of factly" when a plain reading of the text says otherwise.

(BTW I am not a Campite)

Here's Jack Kelly's take on "No man..." & "Like a thief..."

No One Knows The Day Or The Hour | GraceThruFaith

It seems ironic to me that Jesus would chastise the Pharisees for not knowing the signs of the seasons, (Matt 6:1-3) yet whenever someone tries to do just that (I'm obviously not speaking of Camping) they get mocked.

Personally, seeing as how Crucifixion week happened during the spring feasts, and how the church was born during Pentecost, (Feast of Weeks), I don't see why so many consider it such a faux paus to believe that the rapture may very well happen on the Feast of Trumpets.

The irony of it happening on that day however,(Rosh Hashannah) is that that day IS a day that no man knows the day or hour. That it takes two witnesses to declare the start of it, and that it is the ONLY Jewish feast that happens on a New Moon.

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

1st Thess 5:4-6 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

But please, don't let my posting of scripture stop you from your righteous indignation.

Posting ones opinion= interesting (sometimes)-NOT

Posting scripture= PRICELESS

Thank you for this post.

I am constantly amazed at thread after thread, self proclaimed christians post opinion after opinion, even in the face of clear scripture that says otherwise.

It just goes to show you, even most christians don't let the truth of Gods Word interfere with their personal reasonings and experience.

Peace...

Maybe I am off but I thought everybody was saying (including those evangalists) that May 21st was the last day, which is today, Saturday. ???? .....at 6pm.

That has already passed bec it's New Zealand time. Monday is new to me.

For all those who say we are to keep watch for the "signs" and season of the end times, what signs specifically are you seeing happening?

I am far from a prophetic scholar, but I can take a small swipe at this one.

Primarily the rebirth of the nation of Israel, which officially happened in 1948 by UN charter. This event was prophesied in many places in the Bible by various men of God as a sign of the last days. No nation in recorded history has been dispersed among the nations without a homeland for nearly two millenium and then placed back in their original land with their own nation. Let alone anyone prophesying that it would occur.

Jesus inferred that it was this generation, (the generation that saw the rebirth of the nation of Isreal), that would see the second coming of the Son of man. There is some debate as to how long a biblical generation is, and when the clock starts, from the founding, or from the six day war in 1967 when Isreal annexed the remainder of the land that originally belonged to them, or some date in the future when that annexed land will be incorprated as part of the nation of Israel formally.

Whatever the case, it is fairly certain that we are in the last days.

Haven't you heard, DKB?

Obama has called for a national return for Israel to its pre-1967 borders.

Goodbye, Golan Heights. Goodbye, Western wall. Palestinian snipers will be able to sit atop
the Wailing Wall and pick off little Israeli schoolchildren on their way to class in the morning.

I don't care what anyone else says. I'm going to go ahead
and be an Obama "hater" now. This man sucks.

Wonder what this could mean to America? Bet some here think "nothing."

Anyway, sorry to rant. Didn't mean to derail the thread. Tell you what: I'll start a new one.

Y'all really think it's gonna happen today? I would LOVE for it to...not gonna lie. BUT I have to say just the fact that this day has gained so much publicity as it being "the" day, probably means that it's not.

I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood your question. No, I don't think it is going to happen today. I am not part of that group, in fact no one on these forums is as far as I know.

I agree with you however, the simple fact that it is being proclamed so loudly methinks makes it unlikely. But it would be nice, wouldn't it?

Peace...

Yes I for one believe this is a sign we should take note of. There are many 'signs' and we are admonished to know them and some others have been mentioned here already. However I still maintain no one can ever know the EXACT date of the return of Jesus. The Rapture was never even taught much as far as I know until the 1800's however as the Word says we will not be overtaken because we are to watch and wait. A better billboard would be JESUS could return to day are you ready to meet God. It could be 5 minutes from now and that is the truth. If we set a date it gives people time to think about it and I don't think that is what the bible teaches. We are in the NOW with God or we are not with HIM at all. gg

II Peter 3:3
"KNOW THIS FIRST,
THAT IN THE LAST DAYS MOCKERS SHALL COME
WITH THEIR MOCKING,
FOLLOWING AFTER THEIR OWN LUSTS
AND SAYING -
‘WHERE IS THE PROMISE OF HIS COMING?’"

The mockers will be more...
now that this day will come and go,
and a no rapture or end of the world will happen
today... they will treat all of us like we
are the fanatics that try to name a day,
and prove ourselves wrong...

The Bible is true,
it is right...
some of mankind step out in lack
of Bible study and make audacious predictions,
and seek notoriety, but end up
shaming the truth...

TWO STAGES TO THE RETURN OF JESUS

Jesus will soon return. His coming will be in two stages.

The first part is called the RAPTURE.
It will occur before the tribulation judgments are sent by God upon the earth.
In the rapture, the Lord Jesus will secretly catch away His saints.

The second stage of the Lord's coming is called the SECOND COMING.
In this part, Jesus will return with the saints from heaven and begin to rule and reign on this earth for a thousand years.

In the RAPTURE He comes FOR His saints.
In the SECOND COMING, He comes WITH His saints.

Just as in the first coming of our Lord to earth, a time period of 33 years was spanned.
In the next coming of our Lord, a time period of 7 years will be spanned.

John 14:3
"If I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again,
and receive you unto Myself,
that where I am, there ye may be also."

II Peter 3:10
"The day of the Lord will come."

Revelation 22:20
"Surely, I come quickly."

Jude 14
"Behold, the Lord cometh..."

Hebrews 10:37
"He that shall come, will come, and will not tarry."

Jesus will soon appear in His body,
and first catch His church away,
seven years later arrive to rule and reign here
on earth for a 1000 years.

That is literal truth...
and the world will mock it more,
because of this false prophecy given about
May 21st...

That man needs a 'loving scolding' from the saints,
for he is bringing shame upon truth,
making it harder to alert sinners to the real
truth of Jesus' soon return....

The world will not end today,
not for a 1007 years at the earliest...
there is a tribulation to come right
after our removal from this earth...
it will be seven years long...

The tribulation is a time of wrath
on an ungodly world,
on an apostate, backslidden church,
and on a backslidden Israel.

We, the true church, are
"NOT APPOINTED UNTO WRATH."
(I Thessalonians 5:9)

And consider - I Thessalonians 1:10
"TO WAIT FOR HIS SON FROM HEAVEN...
WHICH DELIVERED US FROM THE WRATH TO COME."

Scoffers have done their work. They have brought into a great portion of the church--confusion, apathy, and ignorance--about the rapture.
God did not intend for Christians to be confused, apathetic, or ignorant.
He means for us to have knowledge, awareness, and an anxiousness for the rapture.

I Thessalonians 4:15-17
"WE WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN
UNTO THE COMING OF THE LORD SHALL
NOT PRECEDE THEM THAT ARE ASLEEP (dead)-
-FOR THE LORD HIMSELF SHALL DESCEND WITH A SHOUT (Rev. 4:1),
WITH THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL,
AND THE TRUMP OF GOD,
AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST,
AND THEN WE WHICH ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN
SHALL BE CAUGHT UP
(Greek = harpadzo, to catch away out of harm's way) TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS
TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR,
AND SO SHALL WE EVER BE WITH THE LORD."

Luke 21:36
"WATCH YE THEREFORE AND PRAY ALWAYS
THAT YE MAY BE ACCOUNTED WORTHY
TO ESCAPE ALL THESE THINGS
THAT SHALL COME TO PASS
AND TO STAND BEFORE THE SON OF MAN."

I Corinthians 15:51-52
"BEHOLD, I SHOW YOU A MYSTERY,
WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP (die),
BUT WE SHALL ALL BE CHANGED.
IN A MOMENT, IN A TWINKLING OF AN EYE,
AT THE LAST TRUMP-
-FOR THE TRUMP SHALL SOUND
(Rev. 4:1, I Thess. 4:15-17)
AND THE DEAD SHALL BE RAISED INCORRUPTIBLE,
AND WE SHALL BE CHANGED..."

II Thessalonians 2:1
"NOW WE BESEECH YOU BRETHREN,
BY THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
AND BY OUR GATHERING TOGETHER UNTO HIM..."

Yes, there is a RAPTURE...
1007 years later, the earth will
pass away, and we will have a new
earth on which to live...

so... why should I worry for myself...?
why are Christians scared???

Too many 'saints' are satisfied with a
'bit of knowledge'...
and have such a little bit of knowledge
that every 'wind of doctrine' greatly scares them...

People can give their favorite players current
batting average,
name the capitals of all the states,
and yet,
know practically nothing about prophetic teaching
in the Word...

What do you think. Should I send in my rent?
Sunday night will be the start of Lyer 26 [Monday 30] It will be the 34 day of counting the Omer. When everyone is still here you might want to move with G-d timeing in counting the Omer. http://www.christianforums.com/t7359841/

Today is day thirty-four of the Omer
Day 34 -- Bonding in Humility
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Humility should not be a lonely experience. It ought to result in deep bonding and commitment. There is no stronger bond than one that comes out of humility. Does my humility separate me from others or bring us closer? Does my humility produce results? Long term results? Does it create an everlasting foundation upon which I and others can rely and build.

Exercise for the day: Use your humility to build something lasting.

Acts 2:1 When the day of Shavuot-{Pentecost Lev23:15-22) came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. {Exodus 19:16-19)

I do believe the entire Harold Camping prediction was a rapture for only a select very few saved, and among those excluded are those who attend a church which explains most of us still hanging around.

The next step is 5 months of tribulation on the earth, then it gets destroyed on 10/21/11.

Time to up that life insurance policy.

I was at work last night in the library when the cleaner came in. He had heard about this prophecy and was very upset, saying things like 'stupid christians', swearing etc.

The thought occurred to me. All these false dates that are produced, people in the world are listening.

How many will be turned off listening to the gospel because they think Christians are loonies?

At the least, they'll consider it validation of what they already think.

It was a non-christian prediction concerning a christian event, but very few non-believers would ever know the difference. Just one more deception bringing mockery upon Jesus Himself.

So, as a result, christians are now being mocked and persecuted unfairly for this as well, but what else is new.

I just don't have it in me to join in the mocking about this.
Unbelievers hearts are hardned even more. It dilutes the true message and hope that, yes, Jesus will return in due time to judge the living and the dead.

These unbiblical proclamations have negative consequences.

Yeah someone I know even posted a very mocking you tube vid on "FB" put out by some athiest group. Can't find it now but it was full of venom and prejudice. She is not a believer but her daughter and sil are so I think she must have deleted it which is a good thing.
