To love Him, we must know Him for ourselves. We have this reverence, this awe of Him, for Him. We have "the fear of the Lord" which means we go with what He says and thinks over others' opinions (including our own). We obey His commandments but not out of a sense of duty. We do such things as pray without ceasing, and lavish thanksgiving, praise and worship to Him. This means we're in communication with Him and He's ever present on our minds. We renew our minds. One way we do that is by reading His Word and applying it to our lives. In His presence, there is joy. I encourage you to get before Him alone and spend time in private worship in your prayer closet (Matt 6:6). Tell Him how much you love Him. Primarily, you’re just spending time meditating (doesn’t mean emptying your mind, it means focusing) on Yahweh and His Word such as Psa 145 about who He is - who He is to you. You might want to play some music thats just about Him. Or get a list of His titles, names and attributes. Locate a list that has Scripture listed so they can be checked out.

Then think about 2-3 of those at a time.

Also, it means to love our neighbors as ourselves. A guy said the other day, I've never meet anyone I didn't like. Oh, what a great way to be.

Thank you for your words. I don't love God with all my heart, mind and soul and it bothers me sometimes. I depend on Gods grace to save me because i don't love Him as he says i should love Him. I don't always obey His commandments but i try. I'm not a humble person but i try to be. I don't always put God first and i know its wrong. I don't always love my neighbor or my enemy but God loves me anyways. I fear the lord and pray to Him but i'm don't love Him as i should. All i can do is Hope and trust In Jesus and try to love God, my neighbor and my enemy, and try to keep His commandments.

Does God ask any more of me than this?

You know, you are really the only person that can answer this question.

First, we're all in a process - if we allow it. Most believers I talk with and even some on of these forums, I find Yahweh is working with them on something. By you stating that you don't love God with all your heart, mind and soul and it bothers me sometimes shows me that He is urging you to make a change.

To be honest with you, I kept feeling like I didn't love Yahweh with all my soul, spirit, and body. The first few times I tried to worship Him without anyone else or without any music, I was like I didn't really know Him. It really bothered me. I spent days searching the internet reading articles about worship. The majority of them didn't contain the information I needed.

But finally I found a series written that was an eye opener for me. I learned that worship is getting our minds off ourselves and just focusing on Him. The author suggested getting a list of His names, titles, and attributes and focusing on those a few at a time and reading Scriptures such as I listed previously. That we were created to worship Yahweh. How important it is to take time frequently to devote time just to tell Him how much I loved Him and who He is while waiting for His presence with my mind focused on Him.

Distractions came but I learned to make a list of things that needed to be done and continued to stay in my prayer closet. I can't explain it but it changes believers.

I know what you mean, God is leading me to be humble and loving. Its not so easy to stay focussed on this task. When someone offends me it gets harder to love and remain humble. I then feel convicted for not loving or being humble, so i pray for Gods help. I know my sins are forgiven and i'm free from the law but i still feel the need to follow this law, i feel like its Gods will to follow it even though i am free from it and cannot perfectly follow it. I fail to follow this law and the failure gives me a deep desire to be humble and to love and forgive others as god does for me, because i know i'm not good, i can't obey Gods commandments perfectly.

Will post the worship urls a little later.

I know, it's hard not to be offended. But we're not as easily offended now as we were earlier, right?

No one's perfect but as believers, we're forgiven plus we are Yahweh's sons or Yahweh's daughters!

Here's some notes from a conference by Patricia King: “We all know that the Father loves His son. You know, He loves Jesus so perfectly. As the Lord loves Him - that’s how much He loves you. You might think He can’t because I can’t be perfect like Jesus. God doesn’t love Jesus because He’s perfect, He loves Jesus because Jesus is His son and that’s why God loves Jesus. He loves you the same way. He loves you the same way He loves Jesus because you are His child. The Father Himself loves you.” [FONT=&quot]

There are so many different religious views sometimes all it takes is one word and we reject the information. Steffenfield requested the info and hopefully you will take what you need from the articles. I decided to risk it - if it helps one believer, it's worth any negative comments.

Kinda long, but here it goes …. I went through a dry spell with Christianity. I read, prayed, went to church and did everything that I thought I should do. I had to re-learn being a Christian from a more passive point of view. I think it was very important to learn first to be a proactive Christian (“Faith without works is dead”), but then I needed to learn the positive passive aspects (“Be still and know that I am God)”. So to understand fully how He first loved me and why that was important, I really started thinking about myself as a child and how my family loved me and cared, truly cared, about the big and small things that would make me happy and be strong and healthy. Then I looked at other parents and how much love they showed their children and I really thought about this and would be still and think about God loving me this way. The child has to first receive the love to learn to give it. And then I began to see how this great Love for us was demonstrated by God sending His very own Son to sacrifice himself to bring us home to Him, His prodigal sons and daughters. And I also thought about how I would feel to deeply love and yearn for a child that had rejected me, and the lengths to which I would go to win him/her back and keep the child from danger. Thinking deeply from the perspective of a parent, then a child, then a sibling on unconditional love. How that love feels and how I see others experience it. I had to first put myself in this frame of mind to begin to really get it personally. To allow His Love for me to penetrate my mind. I could grasp the concept intellectually, but not personally.

And then I would remember these feelings when praying. Remember that a greater love than even these memories and feelings is what our Father has for us. And my heart would start breaking. I then expounded on the idea of love looking at newlyweds, as we are the bride of Christ. And what I felt when I looked into the eyes my sweetheart – the protectiveness, respect, kindness, forgiveness. And thought about this innocent love that Jesus has for His church. And my heart broke some more.

And then I read the Book of Martyrs and how these saints died as little Christian soldiers giving up their lives to make sure that the message of Jesus endured. And these were some horrible, horrible deaths that these people joyfully and heroically endured. In and of themselves these saints would never have been able to do this but for the Love of God being expressed for us through them.

And then I considered the beauty of the flowers (if you can check out a series of videos called “Animals that Defy Evolution”). I considered our interconnectedness and how the universe itself seems to be set up to support life on Earth. I thought about how the Lord cares to put a roof over my head and food in my belly. And I started making a daily gratitude list. And then the world slowly started to become absolutely awesome. It went from b/w to techni-color for me once I really grasped the incredible, fragile, fierce, and wondrous beauty of this world created by our Father. Our actual Father created this world. Amazing. And then how even at our absolute worst, knowing the condition of each and every heart, the Lord Jesus Christ died for us anyway. That was the most beautiful realization of all for me. Slowly crept up on me. I couldn’t really work for it, I had to let Him reveal it to me through loving interactions. Then I started to see Christ in the form of the Holy Spirit in others. Awesome again. And then I started to really feel the Holy Spirit within myself, which makes possible loving Him completely.

Dear 11822. God can see our hearts, He knows all we think and wish. In the Bible He tells us: " If you love me you will follow my Commandments." What does God want from us? to love God with all our being and love our neighbour as ourselves. God wants our love, freely given and sincerely meant. That is straightforward, and easy to remember. But sadly not easy to do. We are used to being selfish and follow our wills and whims. God wants us to change, to become loving and caring, to be able to curb our anger and let love and kindness take over. We have Jesus who will help and guide us, we have the Holy Spirit who will give us His Love to share with others, and we have much time to become as God wants us to be. We will stumble and fail often, but Jesus taught us to pray: " Father forgive us our trespasses/sins, as we will forgive those who trespass/sin against us." It can be done, 11822, slowly but surly, let us keep on trying. God will see our efforts, and He will approve and bless us. Let Love become our sword to fight all adversity and become children/sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. We will never know until we try. Show God that we love Him with all our hearts, souls and minds, by trying sincerely to become as God wants us to be, and love our neighbour: " all we know or meet." God is Love, and Jesus taught us to " ask and ye will receive." I say this with love, greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ. P.S. Love is very catching, let us show the world that we are God`s representatives in this imperfect world, let love lead us on and on.

 I love that!

My thoughts are that our love can't be as perfect as God's love because we ourselves are not perfect. But what God asks of us is to do the best that we can, and only we know what our best is. As to how we love God with all we have, it made me think of a conversation I had yesterday at church: It's about action. God made us to move, so we should use our minds and bodies to try to follow in Christ's footsteps.

Thank you for those words. Love is catching, i guess the more we practice the love of Christ in our own lives and talk about it with others of like mind, the more we become like Christ ourselves and have the love He has. I'm guessing this is how God changes our heart?

How do I love God with with all my heart, soul, and mind?

When we love God with all our heart, soul and mind, there isn't room left to love anything else. If we love nothing or no one else but God only then His love fills our heart and we can love everyone from God's perspective.

When i compare myself to the original Christians who sold everything they own and dedicated everything to God, i see that again i fall short of Gods Glory. Its better to see my failure and praise Jesus for saving me then to think i'm Good when i'm not. At least i know i don't love God with all my heart soul and mind. I know this and so i can ask Gods forgiveness and He will forgive me because of My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Maybe God is not done with me, maybe he will change my heart and give me the desire to sell all that i own, but if and until that happens, Gods wonderful Grace covers me.

Sounds like the thought is not complete...

Romans 5:5 .....because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Through the iterative process of infilling of the Holy Spirit and removing all other strange loves our hearts can be completely filled with the love of God.

As long as you are honest about your relationship with God (as your posts clearly show you are) God will not fail to lead you closer and closer to Him, but it will be on His timetable and not ours.

There are very good reasons that God does not make us saints overnight!
