And so much more. As with all religions, different sects adhere to different parts of the text which often contradict other parts.

Do you adhere to Romans 13?

Sorry, I can't remember what's in Romans 13.

Aside from all the hate and butchery that Muhammed preached, what scares me the most about Islam is that it is also a political movement. You can say that about it because Muhammed was a ruler and his followers were soldiers. The ultimate goal of Islam is to make Allah's law (sharia) the law of the entire Earth.

What also bothers me about Islam (and I guess this should bother us Christians, if we are indeed Christian) is that it denies the divinity of Christ. Jesus said the only way to the father is through him. That means all of those poor Muslim souls are lost, and we should be concerned about them. I would never want to be subject to an Islamic world government that would force me to believe otherwise.

Well, I have some good news for you then. It is impossible for a government to force you to believe anything.

OK, I just looked up Romans 13. My interpretation is that we pay taxes and be good citizens because the civil authorities are doing work that needs to get done, like building roads and utilities. It was probably written to ease fears of the Roman leaders.

Yeah, I pay taxes.

Just a suggestion out of observation. You may wish to re-read what you wrote and then go read the Bible, because much of what you hate about Islam can be found in the Bible.

The Islamic government could force me to pay a Jizya (humiliatin tax) if I didn't take part in communal prayers or say the right things.

Or they could just kill me.

The violence in the bible has an historical context. The words of Muhammed are the eternal commandments of Allah.:amen:

The radicals tend to take over Muslim societies. Just look at Iran. Even in Turkey, where there is "freedom of religion", 99 percent of the population is Muslim.

I'm sorry folks, but we really do need to be afraid. If Islam conquers the Earth, it'll be back to the catacombs for all of us.

Except for those centuries when protestants and jews fled to the Ottoman empire to escape persecution in Europe. Since the Ottoman's gave them protected status as people of the book.

I had to research the history of the empire back in College. They had an interesting legal system. They basically divided there system up into a series of courts called "Millets".

I dispute between two Jewish people would be settle in the Jewish Millet that adhered to Mosaic tradition. There was a Christian and Muslim Millet to. If you were one of the People of the Book you could ask for your case to be tried in the Muslim Millet (which was popular among women, as the it generally afforded her more rights than the other two.).

And the Christians could burn you at the stake for being a heretic. So what?

Isn't that what Christianity is trying to do in it's own special way?

I wonder if the Ottomans made them pay the Jizya. If they didn't, they weren't being good Muslims.

Is there some Scripture that says Christians can't be Christian and pay this tax?
