  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Impreccable proof for the Biblical Flood

One description of the ark makes it a cube

I think you're confusing the Genesis flood account with the Epic of Gilgamesh's flood story. In the latter, the Noah figure has 2 days to build a 55 m x 55 m x 55 m cube, that was made of either wood or reeds (!) and was completely enclosed with no windows. Oh and the boat was manoeuvred through heavy storms for 7 days using ... wait for it ... punting polls that would have had to have been at least 60 m long. ^_^

I don't even know what you said here.

Sorry about that. I can no longer type as fast as I think and my typing suffers for it. I said "Yeah, cause it's so hard to see your lack of respect for science AV. "

They don't know what I believe -- I'm everything but what's in my profile.

Yes, amazingly when you call yourself a square but have a circumference of PI most people will realize you are a circle no mater how loud you protest.

They just automatically assume what I say is wrong.

I've seen them disagree with me, even when what I'm saying is in agreement with what they're saying.

Yes, people take issue when you claim science is all cool and groovy then say science sucks and it is at fault for everything from people believing the earth is flat to the space shuttle disaster. Odd that people would take exception to that
I don't know -- how many? how many of my pro-science posts are on there?

You mean the pro science posts where you proclaim science to be wonderful until the evidence we have shows your belief to be incorrect whereupon you demand science give way to your personal dictates? No clue, maybe you should go count them. You like counting right?

No, I mean the pro-science posts that show you to be wrong in accusing me of having a lack of respect for science.

I wish people were Gilgamesh literalists instead of Biblical literalists...because let's be honest, the Epic of Gilgamesh is much cooler than the Bible. It has far more awesome scenes (killing big monsters and whatnot), and has a far more transcendent story with themes that are relevant to all people. I'm not quite sure what the theme of the Bible is other than "you suck because you're a sinner, now repent."

You respect and take advantage of the progress made using the scientific method until it plows through and destroys some concept from the bible.

You want to reap all the benefits of scientific inquiry and exploration, but whenever you're proven wrong, it can 'take a hike'.
Personally I find that more insulting than simply denying science all together and living like the Amish. At least they are consistent.

I know what I do, thank you.

I don't need your assessment of what I do.

And you might want to change that word I highlighted to "Truth"; otherwise you won't get a proper understanding of how I think.

That post is from my mind. Only in your mind should the world be 'Truths'.

We should call up the widows of the astronauts and see how they feel about you using the death of their loved ones as a weapon. You're no better than 9/11 truthers.

What you need to understand that just as some people celebrated on 9/11 some people also celebrated when the shuttle blew up.

You can tell by the joy they show when they bring it up.

Must have missed those in the flood of posts where you try to tell scientists what they are allowed to explore.

Fascinating! They always taught us in Sunday school that the proportions of the Ark outlined in Genesis were so perfect, modern architects use the same proportions in designing ocean liners.

Not quite. If you look up Johan's Ark you can see it is too wide across the bows, and not quite sleek enough to stand up to a serious swell. I would not like to be caught in the north sea in a boat like that, let alone in the middle of a planet-wide flood.

I am not sure if this is because of his interpretation - the Arks is always pictured more or less like that - but I do know enough about ships to know that you would have a tough time anywhere outside a canal if it started to blow.

The majority of people who believe in god don't believe in a god named Jesus...
Source please?

My source says 81% believe in a God named Jesus Christ: http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/poll-americans-believe-christ/2010/04/04/id/354704

(81 percent) believe that Jesus was the son of God who came to Earth and died for our sins.
you sure you want to play the majority game?
Mr. Poe wants to play the majority game.

The majority of people think secular spontaneous evolution is a fairy-tale so yes: http://www.gallup.com/poll/145286/Four-Americans-Believe-Strict-Creationism.aspx

16%, up slightly from years past, believe humans developed over millions of years, without God's involvement.

My source says 81% believe in a God named Jesus Christ: Poll: 78% of Americans Believe Christ Resurrected

Mr. Poe wants to play the majority game.

The majority of people think secular spontaneous evolution is a fairy-tale so yes: Four in 10 Americans Believe in Strict Creationism

How about we extend our view from just America to the entire world?
