Jesus is the Aleph and the Tav.

The most common word in the Hebrew Bible is the word Et which is spelled Aleph , Tav. the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The word Et is used over 7,000 times in the Hebrew Bible.

Et is a grammatical marker and has no translation into the English. It is in the hebrew text but never seen in the English. It is a direct object marker. It is the root word for sign (marker).

In this verse , the word et is the root word for the word sign.

Exo 4:8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

Et means a marker which marks the direct object of the sentence. All of this might seem mundane. A simple lesson in Hebrew grammer.

But it's pictograhic meaning is interesting. The original Hebrew letters were all pictures. Aleph is the picture of an Ox signifying strength. A strong leader.

From the hebrew for christians website.

The Letter Aleph

The letter Aleph is the “father” of the Aleph-Bet, whose original pictograph represents an ox, strength, and leader. It’s numerical value is one (and also 1,000) and it is a silent letter. Aleph therefore is preeminent in its order and alludes to the ineffable mysteries of the oneness of God. Indeed, the word aluph (derived from the very name of this letter) means “Master” or “Lord.”

Beit, the second letter of the alphabet , is a picture of the floor plan of a tent. Hence it's meaning house. Put together aleph and beit and you get the word for father. Where we get abba from. Pictographically father means strong leader of the house. ( as a side note here. It is difficult to get wrong doctrine when you know the original meaning of the word. Father's are supposed to be strong leaders of their house)

Another example. The hebrew word for son is ben. Take beit plus the hebrew letter Nuun. the hebrew letter nuun is the picture of a seed. So ben is seed of the house.

Another example. Aleph and lamed makes up the hebrew word El. It means God. Pictographically Aleph is strong leader and lamed is a shepherd's staff. Or strong leader shepherd. Which seems redundant. But it means leader of the shepherds, like king of kings. Shepherd of shepherds.

Which brings me back to et. Aleph , we know by now is strong leader or strength. But what is Tav ? The letter tav comes from a picture of a marker in the form of two sticks. In other words a cross. So strong marker. Et means strong marker. Strong marker of what ? Grammatically it marks the direct object of the verb. In other words, it answers the question of where the action is directed towards. I submit to you that the action of the Bible is all directed towards Jesus. The marker of that has the picture of a cross in it.

In this following verse , the word " token " is the same root word et. It is three letters , in this case. Aleph vav tav. The Hebrew word OHT. The meaning is marker or sign.

Gen 9:11 And I will establish My covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of the flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.'
Gen 9:12 And God said: 'This is the token of the covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

But look at it pictographically. The letter vav is a tent peg or a nail. it is also the Hebrew word for " and " because it connects two things together. It is strong leader nailed to a cross. The very Hebrew word for marker is a picture of G-d nailed to a cross.

It makes me laugh. because somewhere in some yeshiva , there are rabbi's looking over the scriptures and doing word studies. they are wondering about this word et and it's root word oht. Trying to determine the hidden meaning. Because they know in everyday words , there are pictures which instruct us about the meaning. So there they are looking at the Hebrew letters which are a picture strong leader nailed to a cross. This is the word that G-d choose to use as a token or sign of his covenant of mercy after the flood.

This word Oht is used many more times. It is used when G-d spoke to Moses about a sign to show to Israel. It is used as the word for sign concerning the passover. It is used in the "shema" , the great commandment where Israel is told to bind the words of The Lord upon their hands , between their eyes and on their doorposts as a "sign" (oht).

It is also the word used for the marker that G-d placed upon Cain. A mark of mercy lest Cain be slain because of his sin.

Gen 4:15 And the LORD said unto him: 'Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.' And the LORD set a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him.

One last thing to say. Aleph and tav is like saying the Alpha and the Omega. the first and the last. the beginning and the end. Jesus says that he is the Alpha and Omega.

Rev 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, the First and the Last.

So here is a Hebrew word that is the first and the last letter of the alphabet. It means marker and it is the picture of a strong guide or leader pointing to the cross.

Actually, I believe 'et' is a particle. It would roughly translate as 'this.'

With regard to pictographs, Paleo-Hebrew is actually nearly identical to Phonecian. The 'square' script we are all familiar with appeared about the 3rd century BC and would not have been used by Moses or any other OT writer.

Actually Et would be defined as a preposition.

A preposition links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in a sentence. The word or phrase that the preposition introduces is called the object of the preposition.

The word preposition literally means a setting before. From the Latin " praepositus " meaning putting before.

Genesis 1:1 Bereshyt elohim bara et ha shamayim ve et ha eretz.

In the beginning G-d created the heavens and the earth. the et does not appear in the English.

As you pointed out , the square script is a much later type of Hebrew which is actually probably Aramaic technically speaking. The modern Hebrew looks different than the ancient Hebrew.

The Phonecian that you mentioned gets you part way there. But the actual ancient Hebrew pictographs pre-date those as well.

The Phonecian is similar because they are more closely related in time and culture. It is the reason why when the biblical characters Abraham and Sarah traveled to places like Egypt , they could still communicate

Here is a link with a chart of the ancient pictographs.

Is this Gemmatria?

Christ is mentioned in the third verse of the Bible. And God SAID, let there be light.

I would look at it as a more general method of interpretation. Finding deeper meanings in the Hebrew letters that are a part of the original text.

Gemmatria is finding meaning in the numerical values of Hebrew letters and words. I am not doing that in this thread but I would say that is a similar concept in the sense that there are deeper meanings in the text than just the plain reading of it.

And Christ is all over the Bible. Probably in every verse.

There can be a danger
in thinking we can find 'hidden'
truths,
... there probably are some,
but the devil in the past has
led many to seeking, finding certain things,
and being 'subjective' things,
they can be twisted into many ideas
that are contrary to the plain Scriptural
truths...

at least, this has happened often before...

the problem can come,
if we think that these 'hidden' messages
are the real message,
as though God would tell
the simple seeker not the truth,
with the plain obvious teachings of the Word,
but the 'wise' seeker of the hidden
would get a 'different' message...

In Judaism, for many centuries some
have gone into these kind of studies,
and it is in Christianity now too....

they look for the
'esoteric'

see the definition below...

Esoteric -
Hidden, not readily apparent.
Example, when the Bible uses acrostics, codes,
hidden numbers or words
to allude to a thing not before obvious,

in escoteric teaching,
they assume a true meaning is concealed
behind a veil of the obvious...

and the obvious is forgotten
in preference for the hidden...

the devil said to Eve,
'did God really say... mean?"

and I believe what God
obviously said, should be paramount...

yes, God said what He said ...
and meant what He meant...
He did not hide the 'real' truth...
as the devil inferred to Eve...

and I believe, the Bible is the 'revealed'
truth...
no hidden message will change those obvious meanings.

and any hidden revelations
had better agree with the obvious one...

so did God conceal the truth???

I don't belileve so...

the last book of the Bible is
called 'Revelation'
from the Greek word
apocalupsis

means 'unveiling'...
and
that book 'unveils the prophetic
promises fully,
pulling symbolism from the former prophets and unveiling
the chronological fulfillment
of their literal truths...

in Judaism,
the study for hidden truths,
and the replacing of them
for the plain, already revealed revelation of the word
is called

A kabbalah...

definition
 Kabbalah -
also cabalah, qabalah, cabala;
From the Hebrew root qibal (to receive),

kabbalah, the feminine,
alluding more to the passive act of receiving or that which is received.

Many (Gershom Scholem etc.)
use the term to refer
to the Jewish mysticism
from the the middle ages,
13th century Europe,
with Moses de Leon,
and the Safed school.

It is also used in a more encompassing practice to refer to everything
that falls under the category
of Jewish mysticism
and teachings of the Egyptian schools
and ancient esoteric theology.

one form of Kabbalah is called notarikon

definition
Notarikon
- system of acrostics where the first letters of each word in a phrase
and forms a single word,
or forms a phrase by making a complete word out of each letter.

The Kabbalists used notarikon.

I believe that the Bible is
God's UNVEILING....
trying to make the truth as plain
and simple, as obvious as He can...

There are hidden messages in the stars...
there are hidden messages in typology...
there are likely hidden messages
in the words too....
but
none of those messages ever 'correct'
or 'change' the simple and obvious
teachings of the Bible...

in past examples, we can see
where 'new' ideas were replacing
the obvious teachings of the Word of God...

so, we must be very careful
