You don't get it (though I suspect you do, but are pretending to be "innocent" as you say). Homo sapiens ia nothing more than the scientific designation for our species. It is a name and nothing more. But, you can continue to pretend differently. Maybe you can start by explaining how you are a "real man."
The name is misleading and anti-Biblical -- in my opinion.

I imagine its the same reasoning that leads him to think that the designation we use for Pluto is also a crushing argument against astronomy.
The designation you guys use for Pluto came from a rigged vote from behind closed doors.

IOW -- it was scientific.

Is that what AVET is ranting about when he mentions Pluto?!?!

He thinks the changing of the class of Pluto away from a planet is some sort of negative mark against astronomy?!?

What. The. Fsck.

I just get tired of Internet scientists telling me what is and what isn't, when they themselves are told what to think.

Had I come on here in 2004 telling these guys Pluto is not a planet, they would have ostracized me; probably with the same words they ostracize creationists.

Yes? And we have since revised the definition of "planet". So?

From behind closed doors via a rigged vote.

And there are three states that disagree -- not to mention the scientists who voted, "nay".

So go ahead and accept the revision if you want, but what makes science any better than the "crooks" we say are in the White House?

It is just a definition. It doesn't change what Pluto is physically.

Words in the English language have definitions that change over time. Does that mean you count that as a negative against the English language?

You're not being logical there.

Then why vote at all?

If that's all it is is rhetoric, what's the big deal?

And if that's all it is is air through the vocal chords, I take it you won't mind if I go ahead and consider Pluto our 9th planet?

If fact -- you'll even support my right to think that too, won't you?

(Or have I been ostracized?)

Who knows? A bunch of PhD's who sit in observatories and stare at objects in the sky for a living thought it was a good idea. Doesn't effect anyone but them, really.

Well, I don't sit and stare at the sun like astronomers and hippies on LSD do.
