Hello everyone!

My name is Pastor Brian. I have been in ministry for over seven years with lots of involvement in urban ministry, missions throughout the world, preaching, and work with young people all throughout the US.

My wife and I are looking for a new adventure in ministry... Christian art, specifically Tattoos!

Regardless of the way you feel about tattoos I believe that they have the ability to be a great tool in showing people Christ. My body is covered in Christ centered tattoos that show people my love for the Lord. I have had many many opportunities to share the love God has for people because I can't hide it when I take my shirt off! :) :)

I'm looking to start up a tattoo shop. I'm passionate about Jesus, passionate about tattoos, and know this could be an excellent outreach for Christian artists of all kinds!

I'd love to find Christian artists of all kinds (but especially tattoo artists that would like to open a shop with me) that are interested in a vision like this... Drawing people to God through art!

Hit me up on here or feel free to email me...

I'm sorry Pastor Brian. I take issue with people marking up or cutting their bodies. I don't think God approves. Despite the fact that I know you would have tons of people to witness to as there has been a marked increase in the number of tattoo parlors, I'm left with Leviticus 19:28.

Jerushabelle,

I want to thank you for your post. I want to preface this post by saying that I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A DEBATE but I am rather looking for Christian brothers and sisters who want to take part in something God is doing. I need friends not foes. Don't major on the minors and remember that Legalism, misappropriation of the biblical text and squabbles between Christians are the very things that I am trying to avoid by creating this ministry. I'm ministering to the people that others have turned away from Christ.

The fundamentals of the faith are what is paramount when discussing any Christian topic and proper biblical hermeneutics are MANDATORY when reciting the scripture. The key priciple being taking scipture in its context. Leviticus 19:28 in its context has to be understood in light of the Israelites association with the Cannanite and Egyptian pagan religous practice of tattooing the name of false gods on the names of hand and other spots which would lend to identification with false gods.

Again, lets show people what we argree on and not what we disagree on. The whole world knows what we disagree on so lets do them one better by showing grace and love which is motivated by our Lord and Savior...

Still looking for comments from Christian artists!!!!

Love in Christ

Brother, I share the love of Christ with you and am always concerned with the witness we place before the world as many here will probably irritatingly confirm. "I'm ministering to people that others have turned away from Christ." I know that your ministry is vital and I praise God for it. Ministering to those you have a burden for does not have to include disobedience to God. God did not preface "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." with "In light of your association with the Canaanite and Egyptian pagan practices, do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tatoo marks on yourselves." He prefaced it with "Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy." As uncomfortable as I am writing this since you're a Pastor, I am required for my own soul's sake to do so via Ezekiel 3:18-19. Having done so, I will go my way and not cause you further distress. Shalom Brother!

Firstly, I am surprised and shocked that a "Pastor" would advocate and encourage and recommend and promote people getting tattoo's when it's directly forbidden by God!

Secondly, I do however, acknowledge and congratulate you on your passion to witness for Jesus.

BUT...... it is your will, not God's will, that you open a tattoo shop!

1 Sam 16:7 teaches us that God looks at the heart, and men look at the external. You have conformed to the world's way of thought and not God's way of thought.

Isaiah 55:8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.

Start to think like God... and stop thinking like the world.

And in conclusion I will leave you with a thought to ponder...if Jesus came to Earth in 2010 and walked the Earth, do you believe Jesus would open up a tattoo shop and encourage people to get tattoos for EXTERNAL expression?

You know what...?

Good for you for ministering to people that traditional Christians can't reach. We were told to make disciples of all people and showing people love, not condemning them, is certainly the best way. Best of luck to you!

If I told you not to touch a hot pan so you will not be hurt, would you find that condemning?
If I told you don't go that close to the edge of a cliff because the ground is not stable,
would you find that condemning also?
To warn someone of a breech of God's Law is not condemnation, it's love.
Condemnation sounds like, "You are going to burn in Hell."
I did not read that in any of the posts.
Do you consider God condemning also?
They are, after all, God's Laws.

The Old Testament law commanded, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28).

The fact that there was a command against tattoos should raise some questions and concerns...and you have to ask yourself WHY DID GOD FORBID TATTOOS!!!

You are free to teach contrary to God if you want.

I am by no means teaching anything. It would be foolish of me to think that I am more spiritually mature than anyone at this table. However, if you look 8 verses higher you'll see "Do not wear clothing woven of two different kinds of materials" is such a decree equally applicable in our way of life today?

If it is, than nearly every Christian alive is an unwitting lawbreaker, however if such a decree were issued because of context like the OP has stated that would explain a good bit about what was said.

I actually never wear any clothing woven of two different kinds of materials. All my shirts are natural cotton for example and my jeans too. My suit is 100% wool. I never wear any synthetic man made crap.. all my clothing are natural that feel great and breathe well in summer.

Be careful brother...you are being deeply conditioned to conform to the world way of thought. Remember..God never changes, neither does his teachings! The biggest trap for Christians living in the 21st century is they they conform to the world and stray from the Scripture teachings.

CONFORMITY IS DANGEROUS TO CHRISTIANS!

That's why God asks you to live a HOLY LIFE...holy means to be SEPARATE from the world!

Don't become complacent when it comes to God and his teachings....this applies in 2010... NO TATTOOS...and God teaches it for a reason, and if you don't fully understand that reason, then you need to study God's Word more and get to know God more.

I agree with what you say, my point is that God may have decreed that because of the situation the Hebrew people found themselves in.

A smart, diligent, clever, wise Christian will have an active awareness of how Satan tries to get Christians to CONFORM! Conformity to the world is one of Satan's biggest strengths to try to mislead Christians into becoming complacent and in union with how the world (unbelievers) think and behave.

No wonder God encouraged His people TO BE HOLY, so that we won't conform with the world (unbelievers).

Pastor Brian,

God bless you for your heart and ministry. I pray that your vision becomes reality and that many lost souls are rescued and made to know Christ. Father, you use foolish things to confound those who think they are wise. Use this man and fulfill his vision. In Jesus' name, amen.

God cannot use a person who willfully and blatantly ignores God's teachings, and who rather do things their way before God's ways.

Giving and receving tattoos and any markings on skin is clearly forbidden by God and that has never changed! Those people who willfully ignore God on this area are deciving themselves when they think they are serving the Lord. They are doing this FOR THEMSELVES, and using the Lord as an excuse to justify their want to run a tattoo shop!

It's their will be done...and not God's will be done.

Matthew 7:20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

If the OP is truly honest with themselves...they will admit that this idea of a tattoo shop is something THEY WANT TO DO for themselves and is not solely based on serving God.

No that is not the reason. The reason is found in 1Sam 16:7 which says God looks at the heart and people look at external appearances.

God does not want people to get body art, eye catching jewelery, fancy makeup etc, because it draws a human's eyes and focus away from people's hearts.

History has proven this...look at the world today..it's so corrupted with people beauty, fancy hairstyles, makeup, plastic surgery, clothing etc..all these famous actors and singers wear all the "bling" and fancy tattos, and groovy looks etc...and poor children are being conditioned to focus on their body image....we even have 5 year old anorexia cases now due to this worldly conformity to external appearances.

Brother.... let the light come on in your mind.... WAKEN YOUR AWARENESS to what's really going on!

God warned people in the Old Testament about these tattoos, external appearances etc, but humanity has ignored it, and in 2010, we have proof with the corruption found in human image and looks....so evil that many people even reject wanting to associate with certain people because of their looks, or lack off looks.

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

CHA-YEAH, brother!

I'm not much of a tattoo artist, so I can't help you out in that regard but I totally get where you're coming from.

I do street-ministry myself and I've found that tattoos, piercings, and an off-style can really open the door for conversation with many people.

I live in NM and we have a shop here that is 90% Christian. They play Christian music and you can debate theology with them while you're getting inked XD - it's good for further spiritual enlightenment AND it takes your mind off the more painful tatts.
