Let's try this. Everyone put your mind on the International Space Station and look down at Earth. Imagine all the religions and calendar systems being wiped clean and you are left with a blank page Earth with 192 nations waiting for directions. Now put the New Jerusalem calendar and holiday system and public education system and King James Bible Holy Book on Earth as the lone societal foundation platform for the 192 United Nations to use for societal management.
You now have a cleansed Earth with all of the nations on the same page.
There is already a large mess of slums and wars and famine in the global society right?
Imagine world leaders of all Christian churches and the Vatican and the 192 nations of the UN joining together as one in a unified global society working together to fix the issues.
We would have the New Jerusalem Kingdom of God/Jesus on Earth.
That is what Christians pray for.
Eh- we Orthodox aren't going to start calculating Pascha (what you call Easter) on the New Calendar anytime soon- much less a reformed Gregorian Calendar. However, if you're looking for dates to celebrate on the calendar to unify Christians- might I suggest the ones the Church already celebrates instead of reinventing the wheel?
Examples:
September 8, the Nativity of the Theotokos
September 14, the Exaltation of the Cross
November 21, the Presentation of the Theotokos
December 25, the Nativity of Christ/Christmas
January 6, the Baptism of Christ -- Theophany, also called Epiphany
February 2, the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple
March 25, the Annunciation
The Sunday before Pascha (Easter)-- the Entry into Jerusalem or Flowery/Willow/Palm Sunday
Forty Days after Pascha (Easter) -- the Ascension of Christ
Fifty Days after Pascha (Easter) -- Pentecost
August 6, the Transfiguration
August 15, the Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Theotokos
Russ Ewert- your teachings are not those of the Church! Don't try to pretend otherwise. People who claim their pet thing/doctrine/idea is directly from the Spirit of God come a dime a dozen. We only have you telling us your idea is from God. You have no authority and neither did you establish that you have any such thing. The Church already has a calendar and we use it.
New Jerusalem is the city of God that will come down from Heaven as described in the Apocalypse of John. We also believe that the Church is an icon of New Jerusalem. We participate in the Kingdom of Heaven every time we celebrate Divine Liturgy.
I plan on having the calendar and New Jerusalem option available for when the Gregorian system tires of doing it their way. They need to get tired of the wars and poverty and slums and things like that.
