Let's try this. Everyone put your mind on the International Space Station and look down at Earth. Imagine all the religions and calendar systems being wiped clean and you are left with a blank page Earth with 192 nations waiting for directions. Now put the New Jerusalem calendar and holiday system and public education system and King James Bible Holy Book on Earth as the lone societal foundation platform for the 192 United Nations to use for societal management.

You now have a cleansed Earth with all of the nations on the same page.

This whole thing sounds like communism to me (which is more or less stated in revelations during the reign of the anti-christ when all nations become one to be ruled over by one person(the anti-christ)), you even said that the church has to conform to this way as well, so your saying its your way or no way at all?

Jesus never conformed to the ways of the world and he even said himself to not conform, jesus broke the mould and went against the flow. So what if every churches calendar is a little off, if some people choose to celebrate the same thing twice in a year then by all rights they can go ahead and do that or if they just choose to celebrate it when its comes around on the calendar well then theres no problem there either if it puts their minds on God then thats what counts, Jesus said do this in remembrance of me, its the fact that events are acknowledged and done in Gods name thats important not that its celebrated on the exact day the event took place.

To God time is eternal and of no real importance to him, our loyalty to Him and our peace with each other as a body united in one with christ is whats important to Him, churches calendars are different because it keeps the peace with each other, dont go trying to disturb the peace by trying to squeeze christians and followers of God into a mould that suits you.
God is the potter and we are His clay, He shapes us all individually to suit his own purpose in building His kingdom of heaven on earth through us and its our individuality that defines us and keeps us free from conformists and communism.

Sorry if that seems like a long winded speech but I felt like something like that had to be said

Chriss316 don't be so fearful. Jesus is supposed to be ruling over all of the nations. That doesn't make Jesus the antichrist does it? The global New Jerusalem society is what would happen if Jesus ruled the hearts of all the people. You should want it to happen. Don't be fearful.

There is already a large mess of slums and wars and famine in the global society right?

Imagine world leaders of all Christian churches and the Vatican and the 192 nations of the UN joining together as one in a unified global society working together to fix the issues.

We would have the New Jerusalem Kingdom of God/Jesus on Earth.

That is what Christians pray for.

Not so! As a Christian what I pray for is the day when the Lord returns and this old present earth and it's system of things passes away and there is a new heaven and a new earth where there is no more sin or death or pain or weeping, and the New Jerusalem which God has created will come down out of heaven from God. The New Jerusalem is the New Covenant Jerusalem and it already exists. But only those born of the spirit can see the Kingdom of God and His Holy City and walk in it's light.

That's the Gospel.

Eh- we Orthodox aren't going to start calculating Pascha (what you call Easter) on the New Calendar anytime soon- much less a reformed Gregorian Calendar. However, if you're looking for dates to celebrate on the calendar to unify Christians- might I suggest the ones the Church already celebrates instead of reinventing the wheel?

Examples:
September 8, the Nativity of the Theotokos
September 14, the Exaltation of the Cross
November 21, the Presentation of the Theotokos
December 25, the Nativity of Christ/Christmas
January 6, the Baptism of Christ -- Theophany, also called Epiphany
February 2, the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple
March 25, the Annunciation
The Sunday before Pascha (Easter)-- the Entry into Jerusalem or Flowery/Willow/Palm Sunday
Forty Days after Pascha (Easter) -- the Ascension of Christ
Fifty Days after Pascha (Easter) -- Pentecost
August 6, the Transfiguration
August 15, the Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Theotokos

As an evangelical Protestant I have been studying New Testament history for over 30 years with the express purpose of casting aside any and all traditions and determining to the best of my ability the truth about the dates on which Christendom celebrates the events in the life of Jesus. And after 30 years of unbiased and dedicated study I have found that the weight of the historical and archaeological data does in fact support the dates you listed and which have been obeserved by Christendom since the beginning of the faith.

Russ Ewert- your teachings are not those of the Church! Don't try to pretend otherwise. People who claim their pet thing/doctrine/idea is directly from the Spirit of God come a dime a dozen. We only have you telling us your idea is from God. You have no authority and neither did you establish that you have any such thing. The Church already has a calendar and we use it.

New Jerusalem is the city of God that will come down from Heaven as described in the Apocalypse of John. We also believe that the Church is an icon of New Jerusalem. We participate in the Kingdom of Heaven every time we celebrate Divine Liturgy.

I am in complete agreement with everything you said up to the last sentence, and there we may have a difference of opinion.

You said "we participate in the Kingdom of Heaven every time we celebrate the liturgy."

Does that mean that when we are not celebrating the liturgy we are not participating in the Kingdom of Heaven?

Jesus said we must be "born again," or "born of the spirit" in order to even see the Kingdom of God. Which is understandable since the Kingdom of God is a heavenly, spiritual kingdom, invisible and unknowable to the physical senses. This spiritual rebirth experience is also referred to as being "regenerated," or being raised from spiritual death to spiritual life. Only those who have been raised to life in the spirit can experience the spiritual Kingdom of Heaven, in the same way that only those who are alive physically can experience the physical world.

With that understanding you can perhaps see why I believe that when one is born again, or regenerated, we become a citizen of God's Heavenly Kingdom and walk continually in it's light, not just when we take part in the liturgy.

I plan on having the calendar and New Jerusalem option available for when the Gregorian system tires of doing it their way. They need to get tired of the wars and poverty and slums and things like that.

The Gregorian calendar is not the cause of sin, and a new calendar is not the remedy for sin. The blood of Jesus is the remedy for sin, but the vast majority of the earth's population will not avail themsleves of that remedy because they love their sins.

But some will, and for the sake of those few who are yet to be saved the Lord is patient and longsuffering, not willing to bring the world to an end and destroy the wicked and put an end to sin until the last soul that is willing is brought into His Kingdom.

Then the end will come. But it will not be brought about by a calendar, or by the efforts of man, but by the return of Jesus.

Besides, the dates celebrated on the Gregorian calendar correspond to the dates on the Jewish (Biblical) calendar. Passover on the Jewish calendar was not on March 21 which is the vernal equinox, Passover was on the 14th day after the new moon of the vernal equinox.
