They did this last year and it was pointless, except for making the drug companies a ton of money.

Which they should for providing a efficatious product to the public. Police and firemen make money too. Unlike those snake oil perveyers who charitably give their "product: away... oh, wait.

Sanitation plays a huge role. But it can only go so far. We are in an evolutionary arms race with viruses, so it's important to artificially boost our immune systems with vaccines.

And thats why 30 years ago flu vaccines where hardly recommended to anyone but seniors, never recommended to children and/or healthy people, until now. Thats because we're now less evolved and if we dont get the flu vaccine that virus will over take us??...nonsense. Its recommened to everyone simply because drug companies want to make more money selling their product.
I wont be getting this shot and a flu virus wont over take me because I practice good health and live in santitary conditions.

But there will be many who get this shot and still die of the flu because they're in bad health.

When you're in good health you don't need a vaccine. When you're in poor health the vaccine might kill you. Health should be #1. Vaccines don't equal good health, they equal good profits for drug companies.

OH the CONSPIRACY!

Good thing we have scientifically illiterate people "following the money"!

Since a sensationalist news report is about the best you have at this point, I'm going to declare Victory for Science on this one.

No conspiracy.
Science does show us that this vaccine is dangerous and worthless.
I won't be getting it and i doubt you will get it.

Now rock, you have to admit that we do have a conflict of interest regarding giving everyone and our kids a vaccination shot.

No conspiracy.

Oh please, you play the conspiracy card every time you post a new subject. It's all about "Big Pharma" making money and that's why blah blah. Of course you never respond to people calling you out about the snake oil salesmen seeking a profit for their "product" because it conflicts with your narrative.

Science does show us that this vaccine is dangerous and worthless.

Where? Planet Jenny McCarthy? whale.to? Homeopatheotopia?

I won't be getting it and i doubt you will get it.

Good for you, but you're not the problem per se. It's the tens to, well, dozens of people you infect, not with your flu virus, but your conspiracy mongering and snake oil hucksterism. The effect on those people, their co-workers, their children and the people they make contact with will be the problem.

I find it interesting how most the people coming on this forum and telling others to get this dangerous swine flu vaccine didn't even get it themselves.
Its kind of like some doctors who want to inject babies and pregnant women with it yet they won't inject their kids with it.
Seems very hypocritical to me.

(Thats why its important to do your own research and make your own decisions).

The Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday recommended that the use of the Pandemrix vaccine is suspended. The recommendation is a precautionary measure.
A possible connection between the swine flu vaccine and narcolepsy is currently being investigated. The THL has stopped the use of Pandemrix until the narcolepsy cases have been studied thoroughly.
Over the past year, neurologists in both Finland and Sweden have noted an increase in child narcolepsy cases, and suspect that this could be a harmful side effect of the swine flu vaccine.
In total, around 2.5 million Finns have received the Pandemrix vaccine, according to THL. Medical reports suggest that over 750 of those who have been vaccinated have experienced harmful effects.

I got both the H1N1 nasal spray vaccine and the regular seasonal flu last year. I'm planning on getting the seasonal flu vaccine this year (hoping my university gives it to us for free! Haven't gotten an email about it yet)

In other news, I've been doing some reading on cervical cancer and I think that it is very exciting that we've had such great success with the HPV vaccine. Science is wonderful!

Between cases of paralysis and death, I've heard quite the opposite.

Association =/= causation. There is no causal link between what you are referring to and the vaccine. There is no evidence that the HPV vaccine causes death.

Did you know cervical cancer used to be the leading cause of cancer-related death in women? Due to screening, it has gone down to 8th, but the screening is still only 80% effective. HPV is a nasty virus, and vaccinating against it is a milestone because it is our first vaccination against a cancer-causing agent.

And did you know that limiting your sexual partners, particularly to one life partner, also limits your risk. And did you know that the "HPV vaccine" is only good for certain types of HPV and not for some of the most prevalent.

Sorry, but cervical cancer is actually the least of my cancer risks given my medical history and life choices. In my entire life, I've known ONE woman who had it and it was caught in the beginning stages.

Gardasil protects against HPV 6, 11, 16, and 18, the four strains that cause the most severe disease. They account for 70% of HPV-caused cervical cancers, and 90% of HPV-caused genital warts.

Obviously limiting sexual partners keeps you safer from STIs. But some people don't have that choice (the ones married to a spouse who cheats). And if you're implying that we shouldn't vaccinate girls for HPV as an incentive to stay abstinent, I just don't know what to say to you.

Sorry, but cervical cancer is actually the least of my cancer risks given my medical history and life choices.

Well that's great for you, isn't it.

In my entire life, I've known ONE woman who had it and it was caught in the beginning stages.

Early screening has done wonders for cervical cancer. But 13,000 people get cervical cancer every year. Like I said, pap smears can have a 10-20% false negative rate, so having a vaccine to help us fight against HPV strains that cause cervical cancer is very advantageous.

I think everyone else should get vaccinated for everything so I won't have to worry about it.

Quite worrying or get help (not that i agree with all the below advice but at least it addresses the issue of your fear of germs):

How to Cope With Germaphobia

By an eHow Contributor

Germaphobia, also known as mysophobia, is an irrational fear that overestimates the risk of being exposed to dangerous germs. Many people of all ages suffer from various levels of germaphobia. These steps assist sufferers and their loved ones with coping and finding help with this mental disorder.
