I'm confused about Jesus raising people from the dead and them going to heaven. When Jesus died did he just sleep like we will be doing?

What?! Is this some sort of joke?I think He was in abraham's bosom preaching to those in prison. Got a lot of sighed reliefs that the old covenant was replaced with the new. Went to hell to show the devil who was, is, and will be in command. Got the keys to hell and death, declared the sting of death swallowed up in victory. Pondered about going back to see His disciples and get them ready to be filled with the Holy Ghost, fiyah, and power, so that they could be the apostles and start the long string of making a spectacle out of the devil and trample upon serpents and scorpions and all the works of the enemy. Hallelujah, what a beautiful and glorious plan.
Thank you, Jesus.
He did nothing because He was dead. There are is no knowledge, love or praise in the grave, only silence.
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun.
One subtext is that entertaining Jesus not "sleeping at death" can lead down the slippery slope of humans not sleeping at death. Oh the horrors. This is an SDA prized possession. We insist that Grandpa is not looking down on us and scowling because we are drinking martinis and dancing at the nightclub (I wanted to get three no-nos in one outing.)ummm really? Jesus, who is God.. God who is immortal, cannot die nor be killed, yet you suggest that he was dead? How about we don't know because we don't have enough info.... If Jesus whom most believe was God, then he could not have been "dead."

I don't have a facade of intelligence because intelligence is not an individual trait. It is the species that is intelligent. I have no idea what you mean by rectitude. No joke, foolish looking greek guy. You do not full me with your facade of intelligence and rectitude.

If you look at much of Christianity, and Adventism specifically, there is a consistent symbolism around helplessness and deferral of action/accountability because it's "out of our hands."
Good, why don't you pretend to be dead. You do not grasp the notion of what Jesus did in those three days when His body was not found in the tomb. Do you understand that you misused a scripture for our Lord Jesus Christ, claiming that He has no more reward, the memory is Him is forgotten. Even at the time He was in the tomb many were thinking of Him. Pharisees were plotting behind the scenes and Jesus' followers were anticipating His return. Your problem it seems at this point is that you do not see Jesus as the very special God that He is. But, He will open your understanding of scriptures. I know that you think you know, but be realistic.
Bless you brothah, your friendly neighborhood, born-again, child of the Most High God.
If Jesus wasn't dead then He didn't die for our sins.
This statement conflates two issues. If Jesus wasn't dead then He didn't die for our sins.
Yes -- that's one part of the OP's topic, and since many things are being said, it's also important to clarify what is not being said.People are trying to understand Jesus death, burial, and resurrection.
