Would God send me to Hell because I get stoned and drunk ?

This is a question that is probably asked a number of times but I just need to ask it in a different way...

I love Jesus, I try to follow His word in my daily life but at the moment I'm having trouble...
I sometimes on ocassions with my friends drink beer and get smoke marijuana.
I never though smoking mariguana would be a sin knowing it doesn't do much damage besides effects the brain which I still do well in school and my life is fine. (not meant to be a debate thread on weed, so don't start!)

With beer, I drink with my friends because it's fun and I grew up watching my parents drink (not get drunk, they just would have a couple beers) I thought it was fine, I get drunk but I don't get so drunk that I almost choke on my vomit.

Knowing we all sin, would God send me to Hell because of these acts?
I know my body is my temple and I should treat it with respect but everything effects the body like sugars, salt, you name it, the list goes on!

Please help me with this, and please don't start a debate for weed and don't bash it and treat it like I killed somebody. I'm not in the mood.

The times like these are the times where I want to leave Christianity... Knowing that things like smoking 'weed' or drinking are things that I enjoy doing and I don't do them a lot and do them responsibly and they don't seem to hurt my self a lot or even hurt people at all. Why can't stuff like theft, and murder, be the major sins.

I mean the Bible states that bluttony is a sin... So fat people go to Hell? Come on...

Well my friend the thing is its not right to keep doing soo. Your body shouldnt be olny you temple but the temple of the holy spirit. Your not close enough to god yet that is the reason you continue these acts. Im not sure but it doesnt seem like you have truly given you life completly to god. It may seem like these things are fun but I assure you once you are filled with the holy spirit these things wont seem so appealing. God has better plans for you and can show you a diffrent side of life its up to you if you want to accept his calling. It may seem hard but all you need is the will to change and serve god to whatever he calls you to do. To truly be a servant of god and walk with him daily. Trust me man Before recieving the holy spirit I partied like crazy had sex did drugs way more then drink and smoke and thought I was saved because of my belief in jesus. But god pulled me out of that when I truly wanted to come to him and it began a realtionship with him which the high god can give you will far surpass that of drugs. There are soo many hipocritical christians who think all you have to do to be saved is say a one time prayed and your good but salvation is an everyday process. I would have never stopped using had god not given me the increase to do soo. He showed me a more beatiful side of life, It my seem boring to live a life without sin but god wants to give you the maxime pleasure not the lowly one night pleasure of doing drugs or sleeping with a girl. Im 19 man but I know the truth and its not that god wont forgive you for doing drugs but you cant be a man of god and a drug addict. Repentance is turning away from sin and wanting to make a change not saying youll never screw up but if you want to change god can help you. Its an epic battle agianst you flesh and without the spirit the flesh will always win. When you recive the spirit the flesh becomes inactive making it alot easier to not continue sinning youll still sin but if you feed the spirit with reading your word and constant prayed your spirit will beat the crap outa your flesh and your flesh wont have the authority to control you life. It might seem like right now there no way you could stop using but trust me once god starts giving you reavaltion youll be like what am I doing.
In truth and love brother give me a call I dont mind talking Ive just been there and done that Ive done soo many drugs been with soo many girls and have learned that sin is fun for a season but the love of god is what will make you feel content and like your life has true purpose

Music is what gives my life purpose... I don't like the feeling of little rules that seem ridiculous to send somebody to hell for breaking.

Like so...:

Marrying before sex, or cant have sex or child if not married
Can't smoke weed, tobacco
Can't use over-eat
Can't swear
Basically having FUN, I'm not saying tobacco isn't bad, because somebody can abuse it. Same with alcohol.

I approve of such like: Hate, violence, loving your enemies. Basically the GOOD and very meaning full commands that if somebody breaks it is horrible.

I don't know, something just bugs me... This probably means I'm not Christian... Which I wan't to be because I love God. I just don't see the rules or 'sins' people claim are very Godly.

you have alot of growing up and maturing to do...in the Lord and in your life if you dont see the benefit of following "even the little rules" that God has for your life...drunkness is a sin..and drug use was actually considered a form of witchcraft in biblical times since that is all who were using it warlocks and witches to received demonic revelations and hallucinations and to open themselves up more to demonic possession....

God tells you to follow the rules of your government so maybe you should start there!! Meaning that you shouldnt smoke weed because it is illegal and that you shoudnt drink if you arent of legal drinking age 21! That would be a good start for you and how about trying to be an example for Christ...who has heard of a "high christian"

God's rules have benefits for you...waiting to have se before you are married helps you from getting hurt from all of the following....stds/aids, unplanned pregnancy, having too poor to raise a kid so you struggle or contemplate an abortion or just the guilt and damage that meaningless sex brings outside of marriage. Over eating is actually very hard to do if you eat til you are JUST FULL. And everyone that is overweight isnt that way due to over eating.

God looks at your heart and your lifestyle. Once saved is not always saved..God will judge you for what you do and the intentions of your heart....everyone who accepts Christ as Lord will not be saved if they do not do the will of the Father..that doesnt mean you slipping up or trying to lead a life for God..but that means people who choose to engage sinful lifestyles like drug use...sleeping around etc...God lists in Corinthians who is damned to hell because of their lifestyle choices..let me know if you want those scriptures.

Grace is a crazy thing and makes no sense. It is like someone throwwing a lifeline to a person how has jumped off a bridge and not been killed by the impact. God makes no sense in offering it, unless you belive that God loves humans.

Yes , it may take some time for our behavior to catch up with our aspirations... but as long as we say one thing , yet do the contrary other , we are being duplicitous and / or hypocritical ... which cannot rightly be attributed to the nature of Christ .

The choice is yours, either live by God's Laws or be punished either by health problems or simply wages of sin is death. Now if you want to mistreat your body, go right ahead, that is your choice. You choose the path to live, God wants volunteers not slaves and if you feel God is asking too much of you that hinders your version of "fun" then rebel against God and be a stranger to God in the end. To be a True Christian means to Live a True Christian Life in that you will be an example for others to look at and follow. Now, I surely wouldn't want my kids to be looking up to you if you get drunk, get stoned and just want to live a free willy life. In fact, I will teach my kids to hate ALL evil, for God hates ALL evil. I and every True Christian must HATE ALL evil on this world and stay away from it, correct others who do it and never accept it. That is your choice. Your life. Good luck on that.

What it means - is that you , like most of us , are Christ-like in some ways , and not so much in others .

Which is why we're counseled to seek to grow up into the full measure of the man -Christ .

It's probably not fruitful to dwell on the biblical things which cause conflict within , better to focus on what can presently be seen as agreeable and grow from there - and in 5-10 years , likely a lot of what now seems foolish , may indeed prove wise .

Peace and Good Will in Christ .

I know, but I just can't accept that God would send me to Hell just for drinking and having a little fun once in awhile. I know it is "against his law" but it's just something I can't see God doing, reading the gospels of Jesus He just doesn't seem like the type.

Reading your posts on this site, you seem the best on this site. I'm hoping you can help me out with this a lot.

Don't think that Christians are treating drugs and alcohol as the major sins. They seem that way to you because you're doing them, you're not getting the stamp of approval on these activities that you want. If instead of drugs and alcohol you had this same topic about lying to people, you would be acting the exact same way.

When you abuse substances, you poison your body, which does not belong to you if you are a Christian. God legally owns all of a Christian's body, soul, mind, finances, possessions, etc. It's not yours to abuse.

Furthermore, these rules you're complaining about are all about responsibility. It is irresponsible to get drunk or stoned and therefore put yourself and/or other people in danger. It is irresponsible to have sex outside of marriage, because the nature of the sex act is that of binding spouses together in a special way, and in making babies. It is irresponsible to have any kind of sex outside of the commitment of marriage. The thing to do is put your man pants on, and realize there are greater things at stake than your own pleasure. Things like people's lives as they drive home, which can be smashed in an instant by a drunk or stoned driver. Things like a young woman's heart and future, which can be trampled by fornication (with or without the aid of drugs/alcohol). Things like the welfare of a baby, which is made when sperm meets egg, and needs two loving parents who will be there to provide for and protect him or her. Being a man means using proper restraint.

I never said that it is okay to have sex for your pleasure. I was referring to, if somebody doesn't want to marry someone, like doesn't like the idea of marriage but wants to have a family with him/her he goes to Hell? Or, gets divorced and then marrys somebody else and has sex again, God sends him/her to Hell? That just doesn't seem right to me...

I just get really stressed when Christians treat marijuana like Heroin or some type of deadly drug, or getting drunk on occasions just to have fun is like steeling.

I just don't feel that is right. I have these feelings and I can't change them. I know you guys think that drinking 24/7 is what I mean, I'm talking about just for parties or whatever.

Driving stoned doesn't kill anyone... If it does, your not smoking weed. And people that drive drunk, are morons that need to be put in jail for life.

If you want to have a family with someone, you need to stick together. That's marriage in a nutshell, so it doesn't make sense to be for that, but against the idea of marriage.

Marriage is a sacred union, and a lifelong commitment. Kids don't deserve any less than that. Moreover, God expects us to honor it. Spouses are people, and people are to be treated differently than goods that you would buy at a store. But this culture of no-fault divorce and remarriage reduces the person that the leaving spouse wants to get rid of to merely a thing to be returned.

You think I'm going to be happy just pretending I don't like getting stoned because I have a fear of if I don't stop smoking weed I will burn when I die for all eternity...

But that's common-law marriage. Rings are just external evidence of marriage (and they convey very important information to single people out there).

Neither I, nor Scripture has ever said that. And I hope no Christian has ever told you that. Fun is not sin. There's lots of fun to be had that isn't sinful.

Why is getting drunk on occasions bad?
Because getting drunk is a sin against God, it harms your body, and it can potentially harm other people greatly.

I wasn't making a comparison. I was just telling you how sin works. All sin is bad enough, regardless of what is worse or not.

There's more peace rather than less if people stay sober and follow what the Bible says pertaining to marriage, sex, and family. When people flout that, we get crime and broken homes. I know which is more peaceful and constructive.

Now you're trying to justify your own opinions and putting what you think is right above what God says is right. You want to get stoned so you will stop at nothing to justify yourself.

You think it is wonderful that got would put me into the lake of fire for all eternity? If so, you are worshiping a terrible God. You should be ashamed.

There's more peace rather than less if people stay sober and follow what the Bible says pertaining to marriage, sex, and family. When people flout that, we get crime and broken homes. I know which is more peaceful and constructive.

Yup... Stoners are so destructive.. :doh: Oh and having sex when your not married but you truly love the person, oh that's horrible!
