CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am saddened to hear Christian say that they think it is a myth - especially without an argument to their opinion.

When creating Eve, God took one of Adam's ribs. Eve was made from his side. After dying on the cross, Jesus received a spear-wound on what could have been the exact same spot- his side.
Has anyone noticed that?

If it's a myth - at what point do you start to take the Word of God as true and inerrant? If Adam and Eve didn't exist and Death existed before them - then there is no need for a second Adam (Christ) to save us from death - as death was a punishment for Adam and Eve's sin

At the beginning. You include the myth as part of the true teaching of scripture by recognizing it as a way truth was taught in the culture of the time.
Death for humans was a punishment for Adam and Eve's sin. Nothing bars death for other creatures before then, since they do not sin and are not punished for sin.
Remember, the life of Adam and Eve and all other animals in the garden depended on the existence of non-human death. No animal can live without taking the life of something as its nourishment. That, after all, is why God gave humans and other animals a provision of food. Can you name a food that does not come from something that lives and dies so that it can be food?

13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
Jesus too.
Luke 17:26-30 (NKJV)
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
And Peter.

What i meant was that if the old jewish traditions were reliable enough to base our beliefs on then God wouldn't have needed to introduce christianity because Judaism would have sufficed.The fact is that the is the word of MAN, and although I believe the New Testimate is a good bedrock for christianity the old Testimate should be taken with a handful of salt.Lets consider the fact that Genesis is only in the Bible because a small group of 4th century preists and emperor Constantine felt a familiar creation story could make christianity a little more pagan friendly.

Please lets not mix the real life figure of Jesus with Adam and Eve. <staff edit> I really only brought this up to express the fact that Evolution is compatible with the teachings of Jesus Plus continuing to deny such well know scientific theory is destroying our faith. It isn't any different than arguing that the Earth is flat and at the center of everything!

Wow, do you really believe that?
1. Without the OT you would not understand the NT.
2. Without the OT you would not understand the need for a savior.
3. The book of Genesis was part of the OT way before the 4th century so there goes your conspiracy theory. Example, look up the LXX which was written over 300 years prior to the 4th century and from where Jesus and the NT writters quoted the OT from.
