As a business owner, Ive been thinking lately of developing a list of scriptures that would be good for a businessman (and women) to spend time meditating on.

As a starting point, I thought I'd ask if any here had any scriptures you think would be important for a person that owns and operates their own business to remember and meditate on.

Please let me know if there are any particular scriptures that you'd recommend. Thanks!

Welcome!

The first Scripture verses that come to mind are these:

3Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. (Proverbs 16:3)

and

7Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:7-8)

and

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3)

That last passage from Psalms, especially the third verse, is one of my favorite passages in the whole Bible. Imagine being a tree that's planted beside a river of water, with your roots growing down into the water table. It would be a great place from which to prosper! And such is the promise to the man who delights himself in God and His words.

There are many more, but these were the first that came to mind.

Blessings!

Great, thanks. I'll add these to my list.

I haven't gotten started good yet, but thought it might be helpful to see what scriptures others might suggest to go on a businessman's scripture list.

Might be an interesting list...maybe it should be called

Promises for Today's Businessman...and Woman
(can't leave the ladies out you know)

Keep em coming if anybody has any others to add...

LOL I was going to put Proverbs 16:3 also, so I'll put a different Bible version "Ask the LORD to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out."

Proverbs 3:6 "Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way."

Psalm 127:1 "Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Proverbs 3:9-10 "Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."

Proverbs 22:29 "Do you see those who are skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank."

1 Corinthians 6-7 "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase."

Matthew 25:23 "His lord said to him 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord."

James 5:4 "Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Saboath."

Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 All the blessings of obedience.

Hope this helps. Must leave it here - duty to my family calls....

God bless

PS There is a book called 'Anointed For Business' by Ed Silvoso. I have it on my shelf. I haven't read it yet - have only flicked through it, but it looks interesting. It was published in 2006. He mentions that Jesus wore a 'seamless tunic' which is the equivalent in this day and age to an Armani Designer Suit LOL.

Apparently there is another book by Laurie Beth Jones called Jesus, CEO. God bless...

Good point. I'd like to gather some references to this from established Jewish history writers that talk about what the well off people wore in that day.

Another thought comes to mind...Jesus was buried in a rich man's tomb, so maybe He was hanging around a few rich folks.

We know several of His disciples were businessmen that apparently were doing well financially. I think all this points to Jesus not being against people having money...I just think He was opposed to rich people mis-using their money to treat others badly (like that rich man & Lazurus deal)

Thanks for the scriptures, and keep 'em coming if anybody thinks of any more that would be good to meditate on.
