Hello,

I haven't posted in this forum before, that I can remember as i am catholic so have mainly stayed in OBOB.

I hope you don't mind me asking this here, I have posted this in OBOB but since it isn't political or scandalous it didn't recieve much response.

Anyway, to the question.

I have reached a point in my prayer life where I am struggling. I guess I feel that I shouldn't be praying for the things that I am praying for, what right do I have when there are so many people who have greater needs than me.

I am happily married, have two beautiful children, I enjoy my work, we have a warm home, food on the table and there are people out there who don't even have a place to live or food to eat.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?
I'm just not sure what to do.

I really hope that I am not intruding by coming here to ask this question.

please don't feel like you're intruding ... feel right at home :) I have been in that place off and on ... I try more and more not to pray for myself other than things like please redirect my thoughts or things like that ... I pray for my children and grandchildren to be kept safe from harm and those who would harm them ... but for things like a house or whatever I tell the Lord my heart's desire and then leave it alone and just stand on it ... I pray for things like for Him to carry me when I don't have the energy, etc. or to help me be kind to others by filling me with love, joy, etc ... I don't think it's necessarily what you pray for but the intent of your heart more so ... is it just pure greed (I somehow think that's not it with you :)) do you see what I mean ... our God is big enough to fill all the prayers ... small big and all ... I hope this helps ... God bless ... btw ... there have been times in the beginning of those feelings that it made me not want to pray because I felt guilty ... please don't let that happen ... there's no guilt involved ... it's most likely the Lord getting your attention about something ... He's soft and easy like that ... don't you just love Him! :)

When I read that, I felt tears. I think you have just hit the nail on the head.

Thanyou so much!

I will take that to Him in prayer and wait to see where He leads.

Instead of praying FOR something, ask God, "What can I do for You today, Lord? You've given so much, I have so much thanks to Your mercy. How can I further Your Kingdom today?"

Prayer is a conversation. Occasionally I have to remind myself that in order to hear God, I have to shut up and listen. (Not a strong point for me, I assure you!!)

In order to receive your material blessings, first pray for God to give you more of himself. When you have matured in HIM, your material blessings will come.

It wasn't material blessings I ask for, just things like strength to get through tough situations.

and that's exactly what we're to do ... there are times I know I don't have the physical ability to do what I need for the day ... those are the times I ask for Him to carry me on His ... and He does ... I've learned to trust Him completely through prayer like that ... there are things in my life that bring me much sorrow ... I've learned to be happy through those things and not worry so much because I know now I can trust the Lord ... He will NOT let us down ...
